HI Richard, Our door appears to have the same Top Door Rail as in the video at 12:39. But, it stays OPEN. Must push to close. Any help on advise would be appreciated. Great informative Video by the way. Kind Regards, Kevin. UK
Thanks for the reply. The door has never been serviced. It was installed about 10 years ago. I spoke to the installer and noticed it stayed open. I explained that it needs to close itself as we live in a secure dwelling. He stated that the company charge £180.00 to take something OUT of the door to make it close. A rip off so to speak. I have a head for engineering but cant work this one out!! Kind regards, Kevin
@@kevinthegerbil2708 The door closer body, arm in the header and body must be inspected, determined why the door stays open and repair/replace as needed. I do not know why a perfectly functioning door, all of a sudden, how works in the opposite fashion, short of have been removed and replaced incorrectly, Hiring a local expert is an option but I encouage you to start inspecting the installation with the purpose if discovering the issue.
Very odd situation. It has always been this way, the day it was installed. Never mind. I thank you for your time and help anyway. Have a good day. Kind regards, Kevin. @@absupplynet
@@kevinthegerbil2708 AHHH - it has always been this way. SUPER SIMPLE. The closer was installed wrong originally. The placed the door onto the bottom pivot, but then connected the door to the spinlde, at the top, with the door 90 deg out of sequence. Very common infact. Simply disconnect the spindle and reset to proper preload position.
Bottom line is you may not be able to because there are fixed spring closers which are the most common but you may have an adjustable spring closer - that would be reasonably obvious. reply to this message with a photograph of your closer body and I will look into this further: sales@absupply.net
