It’s like we’re entering a loophole. So this kind of movies with unique storytelling and original plots (The Lighthouse, Swiss Army, The Green Knight, a Ghost Story, EEAAO…) feel more necessary now, at least for me!

Given Julio’s contributions as a writer on SNL and his HBO series Los Espookys, he’s such a unique and brilliant and hilarious writer and this film is no different. Love how it’s topical and highly entertaining especially with the addition of the iconic Tilda Swinton who by the looks of it is giving one of her best performances ever. Can’t wait.

A24 movies are like graphic novels/video games but with real people. They're so inspiring and have got me motivated to start working on a screenplay. Can't wait to see this in cinemas.
Living in nyc when I was 18-20 years old, I also struggled quite a bit... Idk why but this trailer makes me feel quite nostalgic and it feels very relatable to what I was going thru at the time... I'm in my late 20's now and life feels so much different ngl

I don't know what was weirder: the ending, or the fact that parents took their teenage daughters to it in my state and called it "Sex education" LMAO (I live in Kentucky) Apparently this was a cultural phenomena that happened across the US - parents taking their teenage daughters to this movie.

Watching this trailer feels like the first time I've ever seen myself on film. Julio Torres' mannerisms remind me so much of my autistic tendencies and the fact that he's gay is just the cherry on top. The chimes of the soundtrack are so whimsical, and the oddness and awkwardness of everything feels so fresh. I can't wait to see this film on August
A24 is the GOAT at this point. This isn’t a movie I would normally have an interest in seeing, but simply due to the fact that A24 gives such unique and talented writer/directors a chance to shine, plus they have some of the most beautiful cinematography in film, I’ll watch anything with their name on it.
Definitely interested. Torres’s directing style reminds me of Michel Gondry. The cast looks perfect-Tilda Swinton and Isabella Rossellini are natural fits for his sense of humor. Also happy to see Laith Nakil (he’s great as Uncle Naseem on Ramy)
They pick movies to distribute and Cannes I think. So they literally can’t (sorta) miss. They actually do have unsuccessful films like Under The Silver Lake for example but people don’t hear of them because they spend no money on advertisement and play at less theaters and will probably not end up on Netflix. They also exclusively produce movies so they don’t really know how they’re gonna turn out sometimes but they’ll always be worth it because they’ve created a brand around making compelling movies so even if the movie isn’t great or not popular it’s rarely if not ever mediocre or uninteresting.
In a world where every MOVIES is a REMAKE, superheroMovies and LIVE ANIMATION FILM 🙄A24 really brings back old style of movies like forrest gump, big fish, benjamin button, the green mile (too many “original classic weird film” to mention) i am glad A24 is doing this style, a freedom to every director out there. I have a theory of why the movie is called Problemista. They're talking about how Alejandro immigrates to pursue his dream, and how that makes 'everything more difficult'. Given he's an artist, and as an immigrant of this kind myself, he probably wasn't completely forced to leave his home, but he wanted to because he had a dream, thus making everything 'more difficult' and being someone that makes an unnecessary problem, a problemist-- or problemista in reference to Spanish. Anyway, can't wait for this movie, it looks fantastic!

i couldn’t believe when i first saw that a salvadoran was starring the movie, and not only that, julio was also writer and director for the movie. and i also couldn’t believe A24 had produced this movie. it’s great that we’re getting the name of the country out there.
Storyline. Alejandro is an aspiring toy designer from El Salvador struggling to bring his unusual ideas to life in NY. As time runs out on his work visa, a job assisting an erratic art-world outcast becomes his only hope to stay in the country.
The moment I heard El Salvador I got very excited. It is so rare to ever see or hear my country be mentioned in any type of media let alone in movies. This is amazing. I can’t wait for this movie!! I’m so happy my country is being recognized !! 🇸🇻🇸🇻🇸🇻🇸🇻🇸🇻
_Problemista_ means "troublemaker" in Spanish. Also, Alejandro looks a lot like a young Anthony Kiedis from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. This looks really good, can't wait.

i couldn’t believe when i first saw that a salvadoran was starring the movie, and not only that, julio was also writer and director for the movie. and i also couldn’t believe A24 had produced this movie. it’s great that we’re getting the name of the country out there.
This looks so interesting and funny, I’m definitely intrigued.
Storyline. Alejandro is an aspiring toy designer from El Salvador struggling to bring his unusual ideas to life in NY. As time runs out on his work visa, a job assisting an erratic art-world outcast becomes his only hope to stay in the country.

Glad to see Julio Torres after Los Espookys was canceled from HBO. If you haven't seen it, give it a shot, it's also weird but lots of fun!
