Greatest metal band of all time. I'm proud of James and Lars for staying true and being kick ass for all these years. Health, divorce, addiction----- overcome. Well done. Turn it up
I haven’t seen them live since September 5, 1998 at the gorge in George, Washington. I hope I get to see them at least one more time before I die or they stop touring 🤞🏻
Metallica playing in E standard in 2023? I haven't followed the band that much lately, but i didn't expect them to be playing in that tuning like they did back in the eighties and early nineties! You know, because of James's voice issues.
I do remember Lars complaining, during the "Load" days, that they didn't like metal and that he hated playing this song. Glad they seem to have learnt to enjoy playing again
If you have Snake Pit passes are you allowed to leave the pit for restroom/food/drink breaks and come back in? Also once you are in is it a free-for-all as far as people trying to get as close to the stage as possible? It seems like a waste to get Snake Pit passes if you are going to get stuck in the middle of the pit.
Being this close, is the sound live different? I’ve known the drums have a clap back delay from the entire arena but curious because I want to exchange for pit 😬
Being that close would be an exceptional experience! Yes, the sound will be compromised ... most of the energy propagates outward over your head, and the bottom end would be heavy, but not likely tight. The cabinets just won't be summing strongly as they do in the far field. Ideally, FOH engineers steer the PA outward, keeping powerful low frequency energy out of the mics and off the stage. Metallica, to there credit, they've always been very good at assuring the very best sound throughout the venue (Big Mick Hughes FOH). Meyer Sound TM Subwoofer Array by Thomas Mundorf, it's genius. Their production of in the round type stages is always forward thinking. As a FOH engineer myself, I think as a concert-goer, being close enough to hear the drum kit cut thru the bass drone and stadium reflections, would be a spectacular experience. Killer, no doubt. Best sound with this stage setup; To take a guess about best seat for sound clarity and power, about 80 feet back, perhaps in the first few rows up in the closest section where the stadium bowl begins. Rock on.
@6:00 The zoom in destroys the audio quality ... that sucks. I know the intention is to "zoom" the mics, but it's just garbage. Elsewhere too, that's just a good example.
theres a slight delay between real drums/vocals and what the PA is putting out. Its weird when youre up that close. Also, Lars does tend to speed up and slow down at weird times lol
