This is one of those films that’s great for rewatching and picking up more details each time, like with the trophy they didn’t actually win it if you listen to the radio in one scene they talk about two people getting assaulted and the trophy was stolen meaning Vincent beat up the couple that won it to give to Mia since she wanted it

They didn't win the dance contest actually. When Butch is sneaking up to his place, he's walking by a window and you can hear the TV inside. If you listen close, it's a local news station talking about how somebody stole the trophy.
Watch Saturday Night Fever, you've already seen Grease. Both are '70s era movies, where he made his name dancing. Then consider that by the '90s his career was all but dead. The one bright spot was being in the surprise hit comedy Look Who's Talking, and he wasn't the star of that. Then Tarantino puts him in Pulp Fiction and his career is on fire again. Tarantino was smart enough to make sure he danced in this movie. There really is a lot going on in this movie. Lance, the drug dealer, apologizes to Vincent for being out of balloons to package the heroin. You could think that was just random dialogue except Mia finds the baggie in Vincent's jacket and thinks it's cocaine. So not only does she snort a bunch of heroin but it's the high potency heroin that Vincent chose to buy. The movie is filled with bits like that.
'Point Of No Return' - Harvey Keitel played the cleaner is that movie too. Another good movie full of action with Bridgette Fonda. Quentin was the guy with the great coffee.

I really enjoy a lot of Tarantino's work, particularly when he gets together with Robert Rodriguez (From Dusk Till Dawn - Tarantino written and Rodriguez directed, and Tarantino directs a segment in Rodriguez's Sin City). They did a collaborative double feature called Grindhouse that was a back to back showing of Planet Terror and Death Proof with fake 70's style trailers between movies. Best showing I've ever had in a theater. Tarantino's script for Natural Born Killers is quite good too (with Woody Harrelson and Robert Downy Jr, Oliver Stone directs)
Mia was doing cocaine and Vincent was doing heroin. Earlier when he bought the heroin, Stoltz told him he was out of balloons, the usual method of bagging it up, so he had to use a regular baggie instead. When the late Princess Diana visited the USA in 1985 her one request was to dance with John Travolta. President Reagan invited him to the party and he danced with her.
Other Tarantino movies i recommend (including a few that wrote but didn't direct) True Romance (1993) Reservoir Dogs (1993) From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) Jackie Brown (1997) Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2 (2003) & (2004) Death Proof (2007) Inglourious Basterds (2009) Django Unchained (2012) The Hateful Eight (2015)
Great reaction, glad you enjoyed this one. You need to check out more QT movies. They are full of dialog, blood and action. Many, not all QT movies, have a nonlinear time line like this one did. So many good movies in the QT world.
A lot of little details that are easy to miss on a first watch. Such that, the reason Butch runs into Marcellus isnt as big a coincidence as it might appear: he was staking out Butch's apartment with Vincent (because Jules had retired, which we dont learn until later in the movie) and had seemingly popped out for some donuts and stuff for them. This also explains why Vincent didnt react to the noises in the apartment when Butch was there; he probably just assumed it was Marcellus having returned from the shop. The reason Mia thinks the drugs in Vincent's pocket is cocaine rather than heroin, is because when he buys it earlier, Lance says he's out of balloons (usually used for heroin) and asks if it's ok with a baggie instead (usually used for cocaine). The two are usually packed differently like that for this precise reason: so that someone wont accidentally confuse the two, since theyre both just white powder. But Vincent figures he's the only one who's going to be using it anyway, so it's fine in a baggie. And if I remember correctly, there's also a bit on the car radio when Butch is driving to his apartment (I think that's when) where there's a news bulletin of the trophy being stolen at the Jack Rabbit Slims restaurant. So Mia and Vincent didnt win, they just took off with the trophy :p
9:21 - "Can Travolta dance?" I can't count how many comments mention *Saturday Night Fever* in response to this, but not a single mention of *Staying Alive,* the sequel in which he becomes a professional dancer.
When Marcellus got up that morning I wonder if he knew he was going to be double crossed, ran over, punched repeatedly, tied up and ball-gagged, and sodomized by two hillbillies from a pawn shop who keep a sex slave locked in a box?
I'm sure multiple people are going to recommend Tarantino's entire filmography after this.... I've personally always felt that this movie was a bit overrated but Tarantino (the director/writer) is definitely one of the major talents to emerge in the 90s. Django Unchained, The Hateful 8, Inglorious Basterds, Kill Bill vol. 1 and 2, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood are all pretty great. If you enjoy the directorial style and snappy banter of this... you'll enjoy all of those.
I like people watching this. It's interesting, but far from my favourite by Tarantino (I actually believe it' a little bit overrated). Please watch Inglorious Basterds if you want to know Tarantino's true masterpiece!
25:58 Chronologically - The "Prelude To The Gold Watch" Flashback - "Vincent Vega and Marsellus Wallace's Wife" Prelude - "The Bonnie Situation" Episode - "The Diner" Prologue Scene - "The Diner" Epilogue Scene - The Prelude to "The Gold Watch" in Present Day - "Vincent Vega and Marsellus Wallace's Wife" Episode - "The Gold Watch" Episode
Tarantino makes some great movies. They're a bit strange sometimes, they're almost always very violent and bloody but they're well shot, well directed, very entertaining and he does dialogue very well. Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained are two really good ones.
@@AwesomeUSMovies He has actually done some movies. 'In Time' and 'The Social Network' He also lent his voice to the animated film, 'Trolls'. I totally suggest checking out one of his movies!
"Say what again!" is my notification for when my husband texts me. He has a tendency to not listen properly, so Samuel L. Jackson's exasperation expresses my own frustration. You should check out "Saturday Night Fever" if you want to see Travolta really dance.
For the record, Quentin Tarantino has said that it's whatever the audience wants it to be. The prevailing theory is that the briefcase is Marcellus Wallace's soul and that he sold it to the Devil in exchange for his prominence and success as a gangster. The evidence? The scar on the back of his head, which is clearly visible throughout most of the film, is where his soul was taken from. Not only that, the combination on the briefcase was 666 - the number of the devil. (Copied from the Googlewebs) They talked about connecting the diamonds from RDogs and another movie as well but thought that would be too obvious. A fun way to connect the tarantinoverse
Marvin was played by Phil LaMarr who was also a regular in MadTV, one the funniest and most original scetch comedy TV shows ever. His bit on "the gay rapper", is one of the funniest comedy bits I've ever seen. A true talent for sure.
Technically Vincent dies because he was in the bathroom and left his gun on the counter. Nothing to suggest that if Jules hadn’t quit that he would have been in the apartment at that time. He also could have been going to get coffee, just like Marcellus did.
Along with The Shawshank Redemption and Forrest Gump, Pulp Fiction is considered one of the "big three," for lack of a better word, in terms of classic films of '94. All three received multiple Oscar nominations, including Best Picture.
The actor who comes out of the bathroom and shoots and misses Vincent and Jules is Rosanna Arquette's (Jody) Brother/Sister in real life. He was known as Robert Arquette at the time and later changed his name to Alexis after coming out as a trans gender. He/She is also in the movie "The Wedding Singer" as part of Adam Sandlers (Robby) band. She/He sadly died in 2016 at the age of 47.
The movie is told in a non linear fashion so they can tell the story through the perspectives of different characters. Contrary to what many people believe this is not a technique Tarantino invented. It was first used, that I know of, by the masterful Japanese director Akira Kurosawa in his 1950 masterpiece Rashomon telling the story of a rape/murder of a bride and her Samurai husband from four different perspectives. The American film maker Robert Altman used a similar technique in his 1970s classics Nashville and McCabe and Mrs. Miller. Tarantino's movies are often over the top bloody with a lot of revenge tropes thrown on. If you go down this rabbit hole you will also find his movies are all set in the same "universe". Characters in one film are related to characters in another for example. Or items referred or that appeared in one film appear in another. The samurai sword in this movie for example relates to another movie. The same brand of cigarettes, Red Apple, appears in all his movies. The same as Julius' fate is actually revealed in a subsequent movie as well. Vincent Vegas brother is a character in Reservoir Dogs also. Tarantino also likes to use the same actors in multiple films. Uma Thurman appears in three movies and was supposed to be in Inglorious Basterds as well but had other contractual obligations so Tarantino just found another actress who looked a lot like her. If you decide to react to the Kill Bill films I'll explain all the connections between this movie and that one but I don't want to do spoilers.
I remember when pulp fiction came out it was very confusing most of us. Quentin Tarantino was still a very new director and we weren't used to his style. It's definitely a film you want to watch at least three times in order to catch most of everyone's connection to everyone. I could not help but cry laughing when you question if John Travolta could dance. You definitely need to check out Saturday Night fever and the sequel Staying alive shows off his ability. Urban cowboy is absolutely phenomenal. Be prepared for the harshness in the storyline of Saturday Night fever. Keep them coming I'm loving the reactions

9:21 - "Can Travolta dance?"
I can't count how many comments mention *Saturday Night Fever* in response to this, but not a single mention of *Staying Alive,* the sequel in which he becomes a professional dancer.
Great to know, appreciate it
Best C.P.R. song ever.
Such a coincidence! I just watched this movie for the first time last night 😂 great video!!
It's so good!
Please review old dogs with John Travolta and Robin Williams
"I'm gonna get medieval on your ass" is a line me and my friends still use to this day. 🤣
When Marcellus got up that morning I wonder if he knew he was going to be double crossed, ran over, punched repeatedly, tied up and ball-gagged, and sodomized by two hillbillies from a pawn shop who keep a sex slave locked in a box?
It's a great line
Fun fact, Steve Buscemi was the waiter dressed as Buddy Holly.
I've tried again and again. But the film just doesn't get any better. I find this movie so boring. I know I'm one of the few... but whatever.
Marvin aka Phil Lamar is famous voice actor, my favourite being samurai jack.
Glad you liked it. Probably my favorite film, push comes to shove. The car-cleaning scene dialog always has me in stitches too.
Agreed, loved all the banter in this. Wish I could have included lots more.
oh, and, yeah, of course Travolta can dance... better than he lets on in this movie, too.
A $5 milkshake in 1994 would be $10.09 today.
NO!!!!! That's too much!

@@sharpgirl72 I stole the list from somewhere. (It’s a Sith thing.)
Tarantino makes some great movies. They're a bit strange sometimes, they're almost always very violent and bloody but they're well shot, well directed, very entertaining and he does dialogue very well. Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained are two really good ones.
"Grease," "Saturday Night Live," and "Staying Alive" (dancing themed movies) were Travolta's biggest early movies.👍
Added thanks
"Can Travolta Dance?"
Thanks for that, I needed a good laugh.
For the future, if you watch a movie with Justin Timberlake in it, yes he can sing lol
I know Justin Timberlake. Does he do movies?
@@AwesomeUSMovies
He has actually done some movies.
'In Time' and 'The Social Network'
He also lent his voice to the animated film, 'Trolls'. I totally suggest checking out one of his movies!
@@Luciphell and Inside Llewyn Davis.
can Travolta dance ????? you need to see Saturday Night Fever
Added
"Say what again!" is my notification for when my husband texts me. He has a tendency to not listen properly, so Samuel L. Jackson's exasperation expresses my own frustration.
You should check out "Saturday Night Fever" if you want to see Travolta really dance.
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
I'm currently high as a kite Loving your reaction
I bet you are
I know it doesnt quite add up but I like to think briefcase had the diamonds from the movie before this , resevoir dogs
(Copied from the Googlewebs)
They talked about connecting the diamonds from RDogs and another movie as well but thought that would be too obvious. A fun way to connect the tarantinoverse
Loved this viewing with ya, James, looking forward to seeing you experiencing more Tarantino down the line. So many goodies to come for ya :)
Great to hear
This movie made me scared of pawn shops
I bet
Can Travolta dance? I'm dead. The emcee was Ed Sullivan.
Marvin was played by Phil LaMarr who was also a regular in MadTV, one the funniest and most original scetch comedy TV shows ever. His bit on "the gay rapper", is one of the funniest comedy bits I've ever seen. A true talent for sure.
Also one of the best voice actors in the business, known for such characters as Hermes Conrad and Samurai Jack
My Man!
The boxing match was at the same time as Vincent and Mia's date. Then he dies the next day.
Don't watch movies reactions without "Year of Release" included
The M.C. was portraying Ed Sullivan.
Can John Travolta dance? . . . He was the star of Saturday Night Fever & its sequel! He's legendary.
Basically Vincent dies because Jules quit. That's why he's with Marcellus at Butch's apartment (out getting coffee and donuts)
Oh interesting
Technically Vincent dies because he was in the bathroom and left his gun on the counter. Nothing to suggest that if Jules hadn’t quit that he would have been in the apartment at that time. He also could have been going to get coffee, just like Marcellus did.
Back then $5 was a lot for a shake.
Especially without a shot of alcohol.
⛄ 🔪
Hi there
You look almost as old as me (48). How could you possibly be unfamiliar with Pulp Fiction?
Along with The Shawshank Redemption and Forrest Gump, Pulp Fiction is considered one of the "big three," for lack of a better word, in terms of classic films of '94. All three received multiple Oscar nominations, including Best Picture.
You should give "The Boondock Saints" a shot, there are 2 movies that are like 10 years apart one being 90's and one being 2000's
This movie confused the hell out of me years ago… definitely liked KillBill better! ✌🏻☀️
It was a rectangle in 1994 too, I believe Uma Thurman doesn't know shapes.
Funny
