Hi there! Just one thing. You forgot to mention that for the Japan map the players can use only 20 out of the their 45 own trains. So the map heavily rely on the bullet trains. Our own trains pretty much just side extensions along the bullet train route. But this is still one of the best expansions! The low train numbers needs a bit more strategy and with 3+ players there is always a small war going for the side routes, due there is not much double routes either. Very nice video! Please keep up the good work! 😉
ArduinnaW : Yes, that is correct. I have map packs 1-5, and they all add map boards, new cards, sometimes extra cardboard tokens, etc., but you need to have one of the main games (standard U.S. game, Europe edition, etc.) so you have the train tokens.
I like that they make these map collections for the base game, but I bought My First Journey (MFJ) for my kids, which is amazing for kids, and I wish they did map packs for it. They currently have two versions of MFJ, but it would be nice if I could just buy a new map, as the components are the same between versions and I think it is good for my kids geography.
In my experience with my kid, after playing first journey for a few months she was ready to upgrade to the regular version just fine. She was 5-6 years old. So instead of new maps for first journey, your kids might be fine with transitioning to the main game
:D "I apologize for mispronouncing those"... You're the Dice Tower, it's what you do! It's your shtick! We have come to expect this. And yes, you did botch it terribly: ua-cam.com/video/6CNLUmd2I04/v-deo.html
You didn't explain that the bullet trains count for all players! You refer to it in the Final Thoughts with "you might be helping other players", but the mechanic is not explained. One person builds a track, but once it's built all players can use them to connect cities and finish tickets. It's a back-and-forth to see who builds which bullet train and when, trying to stay ahead on the cooperation track (or not). It's that mechanic that makes this map pack, and the Japan map in particular, different and unique from other maps.
I found that the Japan map wasn’t that good at all. Everyone just raced to build bullet trains at the beginning to get the point bonus, and then it was a ticket dive from there. It was also too fast of a game because of only having 20 trains, but if you had more trains then the ticket dive would have gone on forever! This was the worst game of ticket to ride I’ve ever played. We bought the expansion because of this review. Very disappointing.

Just arrived in the post today. We're excited to get this to the table! Thanks for the review!

Your reviews are fabulous, love the channel, keep it up! 🇯🇵🇮🇹♥️
I wish they will add these two maps to the Steam version!
for real man
Great vid, but it still drives me nuts that the camera doesn't autofocus on stuff you hold up to it very well
Question🙋♀️ Does this mean it does not bring trains and that is why I need the original one??

Great video
Just played both sides the other day, very challenging.
I could have sworn he had already reviewed this, but I guess it was just talking about it on the podcast and things
Probably the unboxing

We had similar impressions for Japan but Italy is our favorite map
