Ranking ALL 14 of my Credit Cards! (Worst to Best)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 кві 2024
- In this video I rank all 14 of my credit cards in order from "worst" to "best". This was a very hard video to script because I don't actually believe any of my credit cards are bad. I have all of them for a reason and they each offer their own unique perks and benefits. However, some cards do offer more value than others so the rankings are more so based on how much value can each card get me. Enjoy!

Correction: OG freedom does NOT earn 3x on dining so I actually think I’ll swap it with the gold. Gold is now 5 and Freedom 6. Thanks for watching!
Mark, the no fee Hilton or any other card you don't use that has a downgrade and especially a no fee path, use it once every few months and put a small purchase to keep it open. And of course, this especially true if a card if its your oldest credit line. I learned that the hard way.
Agreed 👍
Great video Mark
Thanks Juan!
Great video!
Thank you!
@@markplymale For me, I would put the Gold, Green and then Platinum. I don't live near any airports with Centurion Lounges and would have to force myself to use enough of the credits to come close, equal or eclipse the annual fee of $695. I don't have airports with Clear when it comes to Green and Platinum and LoungeBuddy if I had lounges that take Lounge Buddy, Green would be a different story. I would only go back to Green if the annual fee increase on Gold actually happens since Amex is due to refresh a bunch more of their cards. I do miss the 3x on cruises on Green. Gold and Green and the 2 MR EveryDay and the Preferred cards definitely need an update.
Your videos and presentations are a real touchstone for me. Thank you Mark! 🎾 🪙🎉🎉🎉
Thanks so much that means a lot!!
Great video! What's your strategy to get another CSR/CSP? Waiting for an elevated sign up bonus?
Thank you! Yes exactly that. I’m holding out for 80K on the CSP. Surely it’ll be back at some point this year and I’m eligible so holding out
Great vid, wonder your thoughts on the Amex Green. From what I know, all the other Amex cards gets points if you use their travel portal. The green is the only one that gets you points for even using 3rd party travel sites. Wouldn’t this make it a great Option? I personally dont like using the actual Amex or Chase travel sites as i find better airline prices on other sites.
Great video. Will you be product changing your Marriott Boundless to the Ritz Carlton Card? That is my plan to gain access to Sapphire Lounges here in NY.
Wait does the Ritz card give you access to the chase lounge’s I knew it was priority pass. If so that’s awesome
@@dylanskier yes sapphire lounge access
Blue Business Plus is the first AMX card that made me relax😊
It's a great card to have!
Just put things on cruise control and earn 2x on everything!
I have 15 travel cards (all active) and this is how I rank my 15 cards:
RANKING:
#15 Southwest Performance Biz
#14 JetBlue Plus
#13 Chase Freedom Flex
#12 Chase World of Hyatt
#11 Chase IHG Premier
#10 C1 Venture X
#9 Amex Gold
#8 Chase United Club
#7 Chase Sapphire Reserve
#6 Citi AAdvantage Executive
#5 Amex Hilton Aspire
#4 Amex Delta Reserve Personal
And My Top Three:
#3 Amex Delta Reserve Biz
#2 Amex Marriott Brilliant
#1 Amex Platinum 💕
Great list, question. I see a lot of Amex which i also use the most. I dont see the Amex Green in there as from what i know, the Green gets points from 3rd party airline sights as opposed to just getting airline tickets from the amex travel portal which isn’t always the best option. What would you say ?
@@tespinal8 For airlines tickets I use the specific airline credit card that I have and book directly with airlines. For those occasions that I need to buy an airline ticket and I don’t have the specific airline credit card I use my Amex Platinum to book directly with airline and I get 5X. Remember, with the Amex Platinum you can book directly with airline and get 5X. For all other travel related expenses where non of my Amex provides multipliers then I use my Chase Sapphire Reserve (3X on travel). No, I don’t have the Amex Green card. No need for it in my setup. Cheers 🥂
@@tespinal8Amex green is a good and card. Would be great if it had better trip protection/insurance….and awarded entertainment (lolz, yeah right, Amex)
Tho it’s great if you’re a 2-4 cards ONLY person. And u want clear.
my favorite is my custom card and my freedom cards especially the CFF. i've had my OG freedom since 2006. I use my CSP for traveling
Need to add a CSP when the bonus is higher!
Ive found the world of hyatt annual night way more valuable than the marriot boundless. Good category 4 hotel value with Hyatt is way better than the 35k cutoff for Marriot. 35k hotels are so hard to find now.
Ink business cash is underrated. I don’t understand how people have the CFU and still go for the business ink unlimited….its really the same thing. The ink however has great 5% back categories that everyone already uses! But anyway to each their own right. Great video! Take care!
I have the Ink Business Cash, it was the first business card I got. I love it. I also have the CFU and I went for the business ink unlimited just for the sign up bonus, sign up bonus at the time was 90,000 points! I only use that card to keep catch all business expenses separate.
Replace the Amex gold with C1 Savor One and use it along the Venture X, this combo could be the only 2 credit cards you need in life.
Amex BBP should be higher. If spending on categories that otherwise only get 1x on other cards, that's an extra 50,000 MR points which could be worth $1,000-$2,500 depending on redemption. That ranks it among my top 5 cards (I don't use Cap1 ecosystem).
12:16 as a carrier of the OG Freedom, it only does the 5x rotating, and flat 1x for everything else. This matters when we're in quarters like the current one, where the Flex is getting 7x on dining, where the OG is only getting 5x
My fault. Flex is king then!
@@markplymale My question with the Flex is, if you get the offer where you get 5x on gas and groceries in first year, do you get 9x when those categories come around? imagine getting 9x in 2 quarters and 7x in the dining quarter, pretty op!
Also wait you have all those chase cards and no sapphire? I come to that conclusion because if you did have a sapphire it would definitely be on your list since it is the key to unlock all the Chase value
Yes I’m waiting for the 80K on CSP. Been stacking UR points
Or maybe the Ink Preferred?
@@markplymale Well you're in luck! Today, just announced, there is a new SUB in-branch only. The preferred has an offer of 75k after 4k in 3 mo, then 10k more after 2k in 6 mo. So basically 85k after 6k in 6mo. The reserve will have 75k after 4k in 3 mo
1. Chase sapphire preferred
2. Amex platinum
3. Chase sapphire reserved
I didn't think the OG Free card had the 3% categories
This is correct
My bad! Flex the clear best haha
The OG Freedom does not get 7% on dining as it doesn’t have a 3% dining category. The CFF gets 7%.
Dang you’re right my bad. Freedom still good but flex is king
#1-My Ritz-Carlton gets "wow!" when checking into Sapphire lounges, and a free night ($2,000 cash) at the Maui Ritz-Carlton. My wife and I will be converting our Boundless cards into additional R-C.
Smart guy. Anything under a 85k Marriott property just seems not worth traveling to.
My number 1 would probably be the aspire.
Insane value! Ritz really is a top tier card
Good luck redeeming that 85k cert. 😂
@@newagain9964 i don’t get it…
👍🏻
U don't have any saphirres?😮😮
Not currently! Sitting on a lot of Ur and holding out for 80K CSP
Can’t believe you have the CIU in last place. Thats the only ink card i think thats worth it
Technically it’s 2nd to last 😂 but so you think Ink unlimited is better than ink cash? After the bonus and 0% apr period I see no benefit with Ink unlimited since I already have freedom unlimited. Ink cash has great multipliers
@@markplymalei would disagree.
The ink cash IMO has terrible multipliers FOR ME.
2% on gas?
Theres cards that offer 5x…
The 4 or 5 business categories they offer 5x on, i dedicate to my bilt card so i can hit the 5 purchases per month rule without having to remember to use it.
And 1x on everything else…. (I havent been to a office supply store since maybe 2003)
With the CIU u get 1.5x on everything which i just upgraded my cff and cfu to have 3 csr’s so i no longer have a catch all card so the ciu would be a good addition.
I also cancelled my bbp to add a 2nd aspire so my hyatt card is now my “catch all” card for now
I gotcha! Makes sense. I like ink cash for internet 5X but yeah 2x on gas isn’t crazy or anything
I have the CIU and CIC. I was able to hit CIC SUB much easier because of rebate offers on Visa/Mastercard gift cards at office supply stores, and then you get extra 5x on all that spend, as well as free credit towards SUB. I will update if Chase claws all my points back haha
The Hilton no annual fee card is one of the best on the market so yeah it’s very disappointing that you put it last
Care to elaborate on that? Pretty bold claim for that card
@@markplymale so the multipliers that you get for Gas and groceries considering the no annual fee is amazing, but if you hate Hilton I can understand why you wouldn’t like it
I don’t hate Hilton at all. I have Amex cards that earn MR points and Chase cards that earn UR points. Both of those can transfer to Hilton at a 2:1 ratio. I have no use at all for those multipliers on the Hilton card. I can earn more using other cards and then transferring
@@markplymale I can understand if you don’t buy gas the way that I do that it wouldn’t be valuable for you. I just know that with a card with a no annual fee is a pretty big deal but also I’m not the type of person that has to have a no annual fee card either, but if you’re just looking for like a grocery card, I’m sure you put the gold card to pretty good use
Yeah like I said I don't think that it's a bad card I just think out of all my cards it offers the least amount of value to me. For others it can be a fantastic option especially if you stay with Hilton frequently. I loved the Aspire until they added more credits and raised the fee. I might product change back to it down the road because I do miss diamond status
I agree with top 2 for sure!!!
Amex ex Plat # 1! Give me a break. Plenty of lounge cards are cheaper
Delta Sky clubs? Which ones? Wife and I visit Sky clubs 10+ times a year. It’s more than worth it but I figured some would disagree which is totally fine
@@markplymaleAmex Platinum is easy to use you have nothing to think about and grants you access to all lounges easiest travel card to use!
CSR lounge access is very weak I’m not a fan of priority pass lounges which is why I value the platinum much more
Unless you highly value 1.1cpp Schwab redemptions, you could dump the Amex platinum & add the Delta Reserve. Delta reserve gives you Centurion, Escape lounge & Delta Sky club access. You would also gain a companion pass & other Delta benefits. Keep the VX for Plaza Premium/priority pass lounge access.
Cheaper. Yes but they dont give u the amount and especially the quality of longes as plat. Stay in ur lane 😂
Amex gold #6 below OG freedom? 🤦🏻
Yes correct
My family of 5 grocery bill disagrees with you lol 😂
I use custom cash for first $500 then swap to Gold! Don’t get me wrong I love the gold and this was hard haha
@@markplymale I have not gotten into Citi, not worth the two 5/24 spots for custom and premier.
Great rankings Mark! Surprised to see the Gold below the OG Flex and CFF. Keep up the great work!🫵
Thanks man!
