I used the “steal my sunshine” in my sisters hair, it definitely was thick, and it was bright yellow with orange in it. It stains EVERYTHING but it’s also been well over a month and it hasn’t lost any of its vibrancy
Same, I was really impressed with how long the color stayed. It did stain EVERYTHING though: pillowcases, shirts, my skin, towels even a month after putting it in. I had steal my sunshine. Great color payoff, but I wish I didnt stain long after putting it in.

I kinda feel like that’s what they were going for but idk. Make it superrrrrr pigmented and thick so you can use less and mix it with conditioner to get more for your money.

i like using their "pastel" shades as regular colors. all of their stuff is SO SO pigmented that I do their pastel lavender shade to get a normal purple. the pastel purple is also more pinky purple toned (despite the pictures on their website) which is what I prefer (I also mix mine with olaplex which is probably why I don't mind the texture)
I've only used the yellow from this brand (on my whole head and also as the yellow in my current rainbow hair. I wish I could post a picture in a youtube comment lol. I have had way more issues with the brand iroiro, their green bled like crazy on the first wash in freezing cold water when I used it.
The purple does look purple to me though😅 obviously a deeper and darker purple. Maybe they did that so people can create their own colors with one jar. Instead of having to buy 1 dark purple and 1 light purple for example
I’m glad you tried this because I’ve been wanting to for so long but haven’t because of the price tag. I am kinda glad I’ve stayed away because I already have a rough time with Arctic Fox 😂 the end results look awesome though!

If they took your criticism onboard I bet they’d have so many more satisfied customers (plus you’d get to work with Hayley Williams’ brand which would be insane🤭😂)
This is an excellent idea. There has to be consistent texture and the colors need to look in the bowl the same way they will on your hair. Don't know if this company has it's own color bowls and matching application brushes but those would be cool to have IF AISLINN CAN HELP THEM RE-FORMULATE THE TEXTURE ETC. Another thing that is a must is the actual bottle. Having a sticker on the cap for color is a small step but we need the bottle to be more predominantly the color that is actually in it. I think many would be willing to try this company if we knew changes had been made.
Weird, I've been using this brand for at least a year now and I love it (been coloring my hair for 30 yrs). When I do multi color hair with a few different brands, this brand seems to last the longest. The thickness doesn't bother me, less mess, lol.
I’m thinking that maybe the orange is supposed to be hailey’s signature hair color and that’s why it was so red maybe 🤔 but yeah clumpy is not good!! 😅 lol
That orange looked like pure red. I even turned my brightness up to make sure I wasn't seeing things. Despite that, the color did turn out really nice.
I used the neon orange shade all over my hair and my regrowth and it was beautiful and lasted really well and the formula was great and when I was tired of it and stripped it out, it came out so easy! Can't speak for the other shades though but I loved riot
I used riot about 3 months ago and the bit of my hair thats not grown out is still very orange Im about to try another color but i was impressed with the orange
Did you order steal my sunshine off their website or sally beauty? When I bought the yellow off the sally beauty website it came dark and chunky and I thought it must’ve been expired. When I bought it from the gooddyeyoung website the consistency was WAY different. So much better.
You're the queen when it comes to rainbow hair. But still so surprised at how good it turned out what I saw what the dye look like to begin with. You're a miracle worker love your videos
the thickness reminds me of the ion color brights dye, that stuff is sooo thick that its like unusable.. you end up using like 5x as much because it doesnt spread or saturate the hair enough at all and the amount of conditioner needed to make it a good enough consistency dilutes it way too much
OMG yassssss! I had to buy four tubes of the ion flamingo pink to do my entire head and my hair is only a little past my shoulders! I hated the formula! I really enjoyed the color but I can buy a bottle of AF for 16.99 and it last me two or three colorings!
I thought the same thing when I saw her scoop up some of the yellow dye in the beginning! It reminded me exactly of Ion Brights, especially the Radiant Orchid (which actually turned out pretty after a *lot* of work to get it to saturate everything), Hottie Pink, Lavender and Flamingo Pink I believe. It was such a pain to work into the hair and it was the first time I'd ever colored my hair so I had no idea that it was a bad consistency lmao. I had to bleach it first anyhow, since my hair is daaaark brown, almost black, but the Hottie Pink didn't take worth a damn anyway. I was so pissed lol. Eventually I tried Arctic Fox and fell in love with it. It's so easy to apply, the color is true to what comes out of the tube (so long as your hair is light enough of course :p) and it lasts for a while in my hair. Plus Ion is like $6-7 per box in my city and Arctic Fox is like $11 per bottle so the cost doesn't make much of a difference. Especially when I had to buy 2 tubes of Ion to get the thick shit to cover as much hair as one bottle of Arctic Fox would! I'm about to try Manic Panic Rockabilly Blue soon, since my go-to Poseidon by AF hasn't been in stock near me in a while. Never tried MP before, wish me luck please lmao.
I'm only ten minutes in but I had to say it annoys me that the colors put on the box weren't even close to the shade that came out of the bottle. I KNOW that the shades won't match perfectly to the label but when she squeezed the green out and it was dark I was shook. I expected more neon shades solely based off of the packaging for it. I found that almost misleading. Alright! Now to continue the video. Love you Aislinn!
When I used the shades they do look darker on the hair, but once I rinsed the color out the color was basically the color on the box. It was confusing lol. But they did turn out in the end!
heads up warning: when i used iroiro orange dye, it turned my hair straight up YELLOW. like, i put sunset orange by arctic fox over it to get it more orange, and that yellow STILL stuck through.
I LOVE Gooddyeyoung. The color stays so bright and vivid (although the roots do fade a bit, it’s not that much). Also they looks super dark but when you wash it out it comes out very bright
You can see how the colours straight out the tube would've been different to what they looked liked when u swatched them. The purple you got in the end has a grey undertone to it and is super pastel. The orange and the pink look like one color and same thing with the green and yellow. So glad they've improved their line
if anyone decides to try out the PPL EATER shade, i would NOT recommend. it’s more of a blue based purple. it was purple for a couple washes then it turned into a bright turquoise color and faded to emerald green. now i’m stuck with green hair that will NOT budge at all. if you’re wanting to go blue/green after the purple than it may be a good choice but even then i don’t recommend it at all because it’s such a pain to get out and i think it stained my hair.
i bought the PPL EATER shade i trusted the process...boy how wrong was i to do that, I wanted a pretty purple colour and my hair ended up indigo/ dark blue i was so upset
This is exactly why I stick with Artic Fox bc I know what I am getting myself into! No surprises! I used to use manic panic and I still will if artic fox is sold out of a certain color but at the end of the day artic fox is still QUEEN in this house!
I dye my family's hair with it! Well, my sister in law her two daughters at least. My 5 year old kindergartner is begging to have her hair dyed, but Icve been on the fence with her being so young. I'm strongly considering it now that she finally got her spot in the virtual academy, so it doesn't really matter now. I feel like I should say that none of them are getting their hair bleached. All of them (including my 5 year old if we do some of the pink and purple) have light enough hair that we dont have to do any bleaching, because it turns out vibrant enough on their natural hair that it would be damaging their hair unnecessarily. My natural hair is a bit darker so the Arctic Fox wouldn't QUITE turn out so well on mine, and I'm trying to cover grey, so I use demi permanent purple on my own hair. Big fan of the Arctic Fox for dying the kids heads though.
@@Pressity1 I use Artic Fox to dye my daughters hair! She is 12 years old and her school allows colored hair! Her hair is blonde so I dont have to bleach her hair! My hair is super dark brown so I bleach mine! But yeah I love Artic Fox and I'm too scared to try anything else new!
Same here, I love Arctic Fox! I discovered it at Hot Topic about 6 years ago when I hadn't even heard of it before, and absolutely fell in love with it. Especially Poseidon, that's my go-to. ♥️ Before that I tried Ion... Brights, I believe, is the name of their semi-permanent fashion color line. They were hit or miss for me. The Radiant Orchid was pretty, the Hottie Pink flopped BIG time, their permanent midnight blue/black was great and super pigmented. And their red intensifier was awesome when I used it with L'Oreal's HiLift colors for highlighting dark hair to get permanent fire engine red on my bleached hair lol. Have you ever tried Rockabilly Blue by Manic Panic? Everywhere in my city has either been closed or out of AF Poseidon, so I got the closest shade I could find made by Manic Panic. I've never tried MP before though, so I don't know what to expect. 😂
@@Asdefron OMG ROCKABILLY BLUE IS MY JAMMMMMMMMMMMM! That is one of my favorite blues! I had blue hair for abt two years before I started experimenting with other colors! I will say that rockabilly blue gives AF a run for its money! I love it! Also manic panic atomic turquoise is GORGEOUS! Those two I would def use again! Ohhhhh snap almost forgot abt after midnight! Actually you know what all MP blues are beautiful! I never met one I didnt like! But yeah rockabilly blue was def top two!
Oh no this makes me so worried about the kowabunga I bought over a month ago. I've been procrastinating touching up my hair so I'm past the point of returning...
Ariella Salinas i really loved how Kowabunga came out on me. It starts out as a vibrant Christmas Tree/healthy summer grass green and fades into a pretty yellow toned green. It also lasted a good long while on me (like 3 months with shampooing with cool water twice a week) before i felt like it could use a touch up. I think it is one of their more consistent dyes. The only ones that I’ve heard are iffy with some folks are PPL Eater and Blue Ruin.
When I used Kowabunga straight onto my hair I thought it was going to turn out dark green like it looks right out of the tube.....but it wasn't that dark at all, it was more of a bright green like on the box! So it does turn out the color on the box, but it is misleading looking at it on the hair right out of the tube.
I've used Kowabunga and Ex-Girl and both came out looking like their box swatch color once they rinsed out. They both lasted a long time on me and I used exclusively hot water every time I showered. I got complimented everywhere I went with both colors.
All they need to do is make their consistency of the dye less thick and these dyes would be perfect. Their orange shade is the only one i use because it seems other brands oranges are too light. The thickness of the dye is the biggest problem and i hope they see people's criticism on it and try to work something out.
I cannot freaking wait for you to try iroiro. The color is so vibrant (I have to dilute a lot) and easy consistency. That and AF are my fav. But the bottom of your hair with it all blending is beautiful.
i’m excited for that too - I looooove iroiro. I used their silver shade and that color STUCK it was amazing. I also used their dark red expecting it to fade quick and bleed a lot like most reds but it did neither. So impressed with that brand, especially for the price and they have sales on their website a lot
i honestly love the texture of the dye. it’s so thick it’s easy to coat the hair with very little! i use riot and yes it definitely looks red which nearly had me returning it to Sally’s bc i thought someoje switched it 😂
Glad to see the rainbow hair back! When you did the swatches from the tube could see the inconsistencies of the dyes not a big fan but hope to fades beautifully.
I love how thorough and honest you are... I just found you and I’ve been binging! I can’t even use these direct dyes due to my job but I could watch you for hours! Xoxo
Would love to see a 3 week update! I used Steal My Sunshine over my whole head and did feel like it transferred a lot, and because of how jam packed with essential oils, felt a bit more greasy than normal. The color lasted incredibly long though. Was really impressed with the color payoff/duration! Definitely a neon, which I didnt expect from what came out of the tube, like you said.
im excited to see you use iroiro! i was a die hard fan of arctic fox but I recently tried iroiro neon red and ITS AMAZINGGG. I love the consistency and the dye goes a longgggg way
I have used the green and pink and the colors were so beautiful. I will say the downside was the thickness of it. I definitely added some conditioner to make it alittle more spreadable. Yours turned out so beautiful!
I used blue ruin and LOVED it. I liked how thick it was cuz I make a mess if the dye is too runny and ruin everything in my bathroom. I loved the way it smelled as well. It came out super pretty too 🥰
I love how helpful you try to be to us at home dyers, so much great info!! Thanks for trying all these brands for us. I wonder if you can save your own hair for your fav brands by showing the original colors and how they end up on small 1/2 inch sections of extensions instead/as well??
For me, When I used the shades they do look darker on the hair, but once I rinsed the color out the color was basically the color on the box. It was confusing lol. But they did turn out in the end!
Thanks for the info on Good Dye Young, purple is my favorite color and seeing how it looks by itself and how time consuming it would be adding conditioner, I will definitely not be buying that brand. Though I was shocked when u said that Hayley Williams created this dye. I would be upset too since she did some songs I loved back then. But overall, the colors still looks good!❤️🧡💛💚💙💜💖
This is actually one of my favorite hair dyes ever but I always have to use so much conditioner to make it thin and able to work with but they are so vibrant & last so long !
Yeah part of the fun of it is the process of mixing and coming up with a color so you can play and customize a color with direct dyes. It might as well all be white/clear if it goes on one color and comes out a completely different color. That’s frustrating. You still rock it girl 😘
I will say that I've used this brand before and been very happy with it! I used the pink and I currently have the orange in my hair and for me and what I was looking for it was rather nice, but I do prefer artic fox. Not trying to criticize anyone or any opinions for being different, just wanted to let others know!
Aislinn you are sooo pretty!! What ever new lifestyle you have, you can definitely see your results. Your face is looking thinner and thinner, and so is your build. I wish I had the motivation you have. Love your content, and love who you are, and what you represent. Thank you.
I love blue based purples but that's ridiculous. I don't think I'm ever going to buy from that brand because of the inconsistencies I've seen from multiple different reviews. Thanks for doing all the swatches of the colors on the paper. 💜
Please take into consideration that GDY is the most expensive of Splat, Arctic Fox and GDY. GDY IS 5 OZ. For $17.99 DIVIDE 17.99 BY 5 = $3.598 so round that to $3.60 an ounce. Now times 3.60 by 3 (3 oz. extra needed to get to 8 oz like AF) and now add $17.99 NOW TIMES THAT BY AN ADDITIONAL 3 OZ. NEEDED TO GET TO 8 OZ. LIKE AF HAS AND IT MEANS THAT.... 3.60 + 3.60 + 3.60 + 17.99 adds up to 28.79 for 8 oz of the GDY. Splat is $9.18 for 6 oz. Arctic Fox is $16.99 for 8 oz. Good dye young is $17.99 for 5 oz. Walmart has the Splat and Sally's has AF and GDY.
The outcome was beautiful, but I totally agree with you. I hate chunky dyes. You made it work, tho, and its beautiful. If someone was doing this and either didnt have a license or didnt know what they were doing, this would NOT be a good alternative for them. I think you were spot on in your opinion. I was a little disappointed in the consistency too. Your hair still turned out beautifully, tho:)
It's very vibrant and beautiful ❤👍but to think about your hair always look beautiful even if the colours are fading. I hope one day you get your own brand and formulate your own colours because you know so much what works and doesn't with colour
i used blue ruin about a year ago, & it is crazyyyyy thick but it's AMAZING if you want a super low maintenance color. i went swimming every day and it didn't budge a bit. i've only used the blue shade so i can't speak on the other colors, but besides the texture i loved it🤷🏻♀️

YESSS THE RAINBOW IS BACK 😍😍😍 MY FAAAAV
the thickness reminds me of the ion color brights dye, that stuff is sooo thick that its like unusable.. you end up using like 5x as much because it doesnt spread or saturate the hair enough at all and the amount of conditioner needed to make it a good enough consistency dilutes it way too much
OMG yassssss!
A good trick for thick dyes is to add water, the water makes it more manageable without diluting the color like conditioner would 😊
@@erikar6413 it won't ruin the dye or anything?
@@prettysick9070 no not at all!
Oh snap.
It looks so beautiful 😭 that vibrancy is amazing
I'm only ten minutes in but I had to say it annoys me that the colors put on the box weren't even close to the shade that came out of the bottle. I KNOW that the shades won't match perfectly to the label but when she squeezed the green out and it was dark I was shook. I expected more neon shades solely based off of the packaging for it. I found that almost misleading. Alright! Now to continue the video. Love you Aislinn!
When I used the shades they do look darker on the hair, but once I rinsed the color out the color was basically the color on the box. It was confusing lol. But they did turn out in the end!
@@Bumzigana Oh! Fantastic to know.
Aislinn, you are literally the hair queen. I could watch your videos forever!!💕🥺💗😭
heads up warning: when i used iroiro orange dye, it turned my hair straight up YELLOW. like, i put sunset orange by arctic fox over it to get it more orange, and that yellow STILL stuck through.
So glad they've improved their line
it turned out so good despite all the problems with the dye! especially love how the yellow turned out :)
These dyes are thicker than a bowl of oatmeal hahahah
For real, looks like the texture of drying no bake cookies lol
@@PunkRockBarbie ahhh, now you got me craving PB no bake cookies lol.
if anyone decides to try out the PPL EATER shade, i would NOT recommend. it’s more of a blue based purple. it was purple for a couple washes then it turned into a bright turquoise color and faded to emerald green. now i’m stuck with green hair that will NOT budge at all. if you’re wanting to go blue/green after the purple than it may be a good choice but even then i don’t recommend it at all because it’s such a pain to get out and i think it stained my hair.
It looks really nice, the colors are hella vibrant!
i wish aislinn had a "dye camera" so we could see whats happening
It’s a great rainbow!!!! It’s gorgeous!!! But I agree with everything about the texture and such
I love gdy it makes my hair incredibly vibrant I didn't have any issues and it made my hair super soft.
i bought the PPL EATER shade i trusted the process...boy how wrong was i to do that, I wanted a pretty purple colour and my hair ended up indigo/ dark blue i was so upset
With colors like that I add water just enough to thin them but not enough to dilute
Kowabunga is gorgeously bright BRIGHT green like so BRIGHT
I've used Kowabunga and Ex-Girl and both came out looking like their box swatch color once they rinsed out. They both lasted a long time on me and I used exclusively hot water every time I showered. I got complimented everywhere I went with both colors.
All they need to do is make their consistency of the dye less thick and these dyes would be perfect. Their orange shade is the only one i use because it seems other brands oranges are too light. The thickness of the dye is the biggest problem and i hope they see people's criticism on it and try to work something out.
I love the mixing bowls to match your colors ❤️💎 keep shining, girl!
The texture is super gritty..... thank you for always being honest with us. I related a lot to this video
I love the colors you used in the “prism” rainbow- I forget the brand but they suited you so well!!
I think it was Pulp Riot.
I also used their dark red expecting it to fade quick and bleed a lot like
most reds but it did neither. So impressed with that brand, especially for the price and they have sales on their website a lot
You're always so relaxing to watch. Thanx for being you!
i never thought I'd say this but those colors are actually TOO vibrant
i honestly love the texture of the dye. it’s so thick it’s easy to coat the hair with very little! i use riot and yes it definitely looks red which nearly had me returning it to Sally’s bc i thought someoje switched it 😂
@erin5215 it is, it looks red when you’re applying it but it washes out orange
You are beautiful, your hair is incredible...but your voice soothes me. This whole video is ASMR for me.
The consistency reminds me a lot of the ion semi-permanent dyes you can get at Sally’s, the thickest dyes I’ve ever used
I honestly really LOVE these dyes!! To each their own but I've always gotten really beautiful results from gdy 😋♥️
I’m so glad you tried this product because I was just about to try it to see if it was any good. I love iroiro.
Glad to see the rainbow hair back! When you did the swatches from the tube could see the inconsistencies of the dyes not a big fan but hope to fades beautifully.
I've always wanted to use this brand since I've been a paramore fan since I was like 12? (I'M 26) but here in Argentina we cant get it ☹
I can’t wait for you to try out iroiro’s formula. They feel really amazing and the color lasts so long! Not to mention it smells soooo good!
It came out super pretty too 🥰
The result looks stunning but that's definitely due to your skill ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
THE RAINBOW HAIR!!! So beautiful 😍❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
I’m obsessed with your rainbow hair! It turned out amazing.
But overall, the colors still looks good!❤️🧡💛💚💙💜💖
It looks so amazing!!! I cant wait to have long hair again and put rainbow in my hair
GDY is still a pretty new company so hopefully w feedback they’ll work on their formulas & improve! :)
This is actually one of my favorite hair dyes ever but I always have to use so much conditioner to make it thin and able to work with but they are so vibrant & last so long !
Just wanted to say i think you are stunning and have a great soul. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
Yeah part of the fun of it is the process of mixing and coming up with a color so you can play and customize a color with direct dyes. It might as well all be white/clear if it goes on one color and comes out a completely different color. That’s frustrating.
You still rock it girl 😘
I think the arctic fox colours complement your skin tone a little more. Glad to see you rainbow again :)
I will say that I've used this brand before and been very happy with it! I used the pink and I currently have the orange in my hair and for me and what I was looking for it was rather nice, but I do prefer artic fox. Not trying to criticize anyone or any opinions for being different, just wanted to let others know!
I can’t wait for you to try iroiro. I just dyed my hair the perfect Halloween orange right out of the tube with it but and I had about a level 8.
The green and yellow are beautiful xxx
Thank you for going into so much detail! I bought this dye last night and had a feeling I should do my research.
Aislinn you are sooo pretty!! What ever new lifestyle you have, you can definitely see your results. Your face is looking thinner and thinner, and so is your build. I wish I had the motivation you have. Love your content, and love who you are, and what you represent. Thank you.
I love the pink in these dyes. But the others FOR ME are hit or miss. I really like that the pink has a cool blue under tone.
You did a very thorough, detailed review. Great job!
I love blue based purples but that's ridiculous. I don't think I'm ever going to buy from that brand because of the inconsistencies I've seen from multiple different reviews. Thanks for doing all the swatches of the colors on the paper. 💜
Just a note and feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but this brand is 100% (or nearly) vegan
yes it is!
I’ve wanted to try their dyes (I’m a pretty big punky color “dye hard”). You always have the best hair and makeup 🖤
Please take into consideration that GDY is the most expensive of Splat, Arctic Fox and GDY.
GDY IS 5 OZ. For $17.99
DIVIDE 17.99 BY 5 = $3.598 so round that to $3.60 an ounce.
Now times 3.60 by 3 (3 oz. extra needed to get to 8 oz like AF) and now add $17.99
NOW TIMES THAT BY AN ADDITIONAL 3 OZ.
Walmart has the Splat and Sally's has AF and GDY.
your eyeshadow is mesmerizing!! you’re so talented aislinn! 🥺💓
This is my favorite rainbow hair you’ve had!!!
ive done split dye with these and used the pink and orange. the orange was the perfect pumpkin color
9:32 I was like that's orange? THAT"S ORANGE? I thought it was red, then I remembered. Oh yeah there was no red lol.
Punky Colour is my go to. For bright pink I use iroiro. One of the best pinks I've ever used.
Your hair looks amazing and vibrant!
It's very vibrant and beautiful ❤👍but to think about your hair always look beautiful even if the colours are fading. I hope one day you get your own brand and formulate your own colours because you know so much what works and doesn't with colour
i used blue ruin about a year ago, & it is crazyyyyy thick but it's AMAZING if you want a super low maintenance color. i went swimming every day and it didn't budge a bit. i've only used the blue shade so i can't speak on the other colors, but besides the texture i loved it🤷🏻♀️
i should also say that when i used it, it wasn't clumpy, just thick BUT i'm pretty sure they've reformulated since and that may be why ://
You made it work and it looks so vibrant..♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
I didnt know haley was the owner of the brand so i understand you didnt wanna say something bad ...i just have so much love for this woman too😍
