Since i was a little boy i dream of one day owning a yacht. But after watching these 5 series of "how to buy a yacht" i must say i'm a bit afraid of buying one. Don't get me wrong you do a marvelous job on showing the first timer on what to do and look out for, but i wasn't expecting all that needs to be done when buying a yacht.
I still have the 108 Mangusta Neoprene in my short list but having only chartered, I had really no idea of the process, thanks for the info.

Westport. Trinity. Christensen. America does a tremendous job building luxury yachts. This was such a fun video. Personally, a trans-Atlantic trip on my own boat would be a treat not to be missed. Stay well and safe.
i would really like to see how burger is on this list too, and i would TOTALLY do a transatlantic trip when i get mine... but i am VERY torn on just a motor yacht or a motor sailer
most of the people who buy these floating palaces are very busy business people who can ill afford the month or more of transit to cross the atlantic. but i would want to have the yacht do it if it is capable and with the crew it would be the best shakedown experience they could have
The How to Buy a Yacht series is very helpful, but these are for pre-owned Yachts. What about a vlog on How to Buy a NEW Yacht directly from the distributor, like Princess, Feretti, etc. Do you still need a YBAA or MYBA? Do you still need a surveyor? How about buying in UK and delivery in US? Who pays? Lots of different questions! Can you please consider doing a vlog of this nature? Thank You - keep up the great job!

Speaking of American yachts... do you know much about M/Y Sovereign, a 2011 55m Newcastle... big girl, 1100gt...straight gorgeous and a bargain at $24M
That was reviewed in one of my yacht magazines when new, I'll have to dig them out to tell you which one. On another subject your 'big girl' phrase reminded me of a friend who managed to use the chat up line on the dance floor in a nightclub without being slapped - "For a big girl you don't sweat much!". I still to this day don't know why she didn't hit him!!

What does one look for in a captain, if one is a novice superyacht owner? What certificates and experiences do a captain need to have to master a superyacht and where would one go to find one? Maybe a future video on this subject?
a good broker at this level more often than not woulld be affilitated with a company like northup and johnson who have a good yacht managemnt section to run it for you and take care of the detials. i belive david gets into that on one of his buying videos
Do you own your yacht? Not only referring only to a 100+' long...maybe a 40-50' yacht or even a smaller 25' boat to just enjoy your days in the med during summer season.
If you in the market for a yacht of 30.000.000,£ or more, saving on a surveyor is stupid beyond comprehension
Pieter agreed but I bet also it’s impatience. At this level of wealth time is a super valuable asset to them as it’s one of the only things they can’t buy. If you’re a hundred millionaire or billionaire 30 million isn’t that big a deal and they don’t want to have to wait.
@@ericduany2809 that's certainly true, but one might then argue that their risk is lost time rather than lost money. If an issue that would otherwise be uncovered by a surveyor is allowed to develop it could tie up the yacht for weeks or even months (or ultimately lead to a complete loss).

Hey David, question about hours on engine. Is something like a transatlantic crossing that big a deal, or number of hours in general? I assumed these engines as long as they are maintained and not run to their max output will run for a very long time. Isn’t the use of a yacht transport more about saving on fuel, as well as transport for less seaworthy yachts? Yachts designed more for coastal use versus open ocean, with not enough range?
i was wondering the same thing west ports do have a farily shallow draft and i dont think that crossing oceans was what they were made for.. otherwise why not sail her around florida and the bahamas for a bit of a shake down then cross the alantic with a crew that can get to know each other without paying customers . the owner could even be there and take off from bermuda or the canary islands to see how his new baby does.

Dock wise yacht transport is what I would definitely use (if you have money to buy a yacht you should make sure you have enough money to give the best care possible to it, it doesn’t make sense to do otherwise …) Were you really playing the piano? 🤔 … A piano on a yacht (cool) … 👍
I love all the yacht porn you've included, David. As for Aphrodite herself, it's a shame Westport is moving toward the 125 in lieu of this. Of course, they still have the legendary 164, which has one of my all-time favorite layouts. I think they're also going for larger offerings, too. I hope that if they do, the hull is in metal; I'm not sure I would feel comfortable with a GRP hull (and keel) in much greater lengths than 164.
Ronald where did you hear that,go on Westport’s website and you’ll see that the 130 is of course still in production. The 125 is a separate yacht plus it’s a raised pilot house. So hear are the sizes, 112,117,125,130,172. Take care

Having the range to cross the Atlantic is one thing. Actually being able to do so is another. Westport is a great yacht but not really suited to crossing oceans.

Can a 150-foot yacht provide touch and go facility????
150' is about at the limit of where you may find a touch and go helipad. They are usually on slightly larger yachts.

Twilight Roamer not a stupid question at all. I’m pretty sure that British yards like Sunseeker take the yacht to France and ship it from there. Not 100% sure though.
@@Yachtsforsaleblog It will be impossible for a Canadian businessman if he wants to purchase a yacht from Monaco and try to ship it to Vancouver where he lives...! ! !

Although you might look at some alternative plans, i.e. have it shipped to the Caribbean where you might spend time cruising those waters, then have the crew take the yacht through the Panama Canal and up the west coast. Of course, you could hop on board at any time and enjoy the journey (job permitting you to do so).
