SteelSeries Stratus XL Controllers are junk. I had to spend many attempts to fix mine. The problem is the POT the Potentiometers controlling the Trigger Actions. It is a bad cheap design, and you must first try to set the Dead Zone for Triggers in Steel Series Web site. You must have at least 5% - 12% Dead Zone on each Trigger, to stop accidental activation ! If that doesn't work you must open case w/Tri Tip Screwdriver then Dremmel or grind down the Landing where the Trigger Stop is so the POT may be depressed (Cycled) further. Some people say to insert a Flat tip screwdriver into hole at side of POT and try to increase movement, but I would not. I have mine working perfectly now using both Mods. Keep in mind you must treat this Controller like an XBox 360 Controller in Steam Settings, and sometimes require a Steam Community Overlay from the Steam Big Picture (I use "For Answers") in Game Controller Settings.
what do you do when your stratus is connected properly to a windows 8.1 laptop have the steelseries app running and a mainstream game like half life 2 doesnt respond to my commands? even if i try by reconfiguring buttons to respond to my stratus buttons nothing happens. i' m dead sure i connected properly because i can use mouse mode to make right joystick act as a mouse cursor thus look around in the game. but in the normal controler mode nothing happens
Know this is old but for anyone scrolling, you just update the firmware with the USB port and power cycle the controller once to enable xinput. Also, disable steams mouse cursor function, it's pretty jank.

Is there any noticeable input lag when playing on the PC? I play mostly Rocket League and to be consistent in-game you need a unit with as little input lag as possible. I'm looking at replacing a wired x360 controller to get rid of the wires. For example, If I play RL on Xbox 1 and then play on PC, I can tell there is a very noticeable input lag. The input lag is the only thing I'm concerned about. I understand anything wireless will have some input lag to an extent. If it is noticeable though, it would be a deal breaker for this controller.
At $60 it should include a battery like most controllers at this price point. I'm not sure about the D-pad though, do you think it would be good for fighting games? Any idea how it runs on Linux? Thanks

You need a bluetooth dongle My PC did not come with bluetooth - so I had to add an adapter. I strongly suggest the ASUS-BT400 you can add as many bluetooth devices to this adatper I have my Samsung S7 Edge - SteelSeries Strauts XL Controller - BlueTooth Headphones all connected to this one adapter, what more do you need! The ASUS BT-400 ina store cost me 25 and tax so about 35.00tax in CDN Good Luck and GAME ON

Triggers broke after 1 month of use. They either press on their own or I have to push it crazy hard to get it working.

You need to download the software then connect the controller via a micro usb in tbe battery compartment. It'll download the necessary firmware
for PC the best controller is ps4 controller download software and connect ur ps4 controller to ur pc bluetooth :D i tried it it rocks
