The "small village" is already quite big. Houses with up to three stories and wall-to-wall town homes all over the downtown mean that this "village" has at least a five-digit population, which would put in in the category of a lot of "Kreisstädte" (cities that are the seat of the county)
Also the Windmills ... Someone forgot about the 10H-Regel. Basicly it means that a windmill may be closest to the nearest house measured in 10x the height of the windmill. Windmills that close to the "village" would never get build :D
@@markbuhler4733 I think that's a state-rule, it's not federal. In NRW for example it used to be a flat 1000 meters, regardless of height - but they struck this from the books and now there is no legal limit.
Unfortunately the assets we get in this game are quite big-city-based, I try to build small rural towns but it requires a lot of plopping growables and locking levels at 1, but even then the assets are too tall. I'm waiting for some two story tall buildings that aren't just low density residential but are more mixed use...

Not gonna lie, your efforts to make it look good is very outstanding, and in my opinion I was never a big fan of the grid units formula in Cities Skylines, it limited us so much, Colossal Order doesn't know how to do angles, to make it work, to look more realistic because I still think that smaller buildings assets looks off on those 1x unit formula, for me it doesn't look right. Manor Lords really did a incredible job with their plot mechanic, Cities Skylines 2 deserved something like that, a modern mechanic, for angles, so buildings wall to wall will shape themselves with the angle of roads, not overlapping with each other, this is the most negative side of Cities Skylines 2, grids, assets built in 1x6 formula, no ways to have more realistic zone sizes, like in Cities XXL, There was a option to control it, and if you mix it with Plot zoning from Manor Lords with the grids tool in CS2 that look bad, it could become the most popular feature in game... Biggest question here is, Colossal Order can do this changes? The excuses on Cities Skylines 1 was because the game were outdated, engine not too good, now the game is new and fresh to remake things right 🤔 Devs running away from their responsibilities with us. 🤡
I also think about this mechanic often, because european buildings that are meant to stand side-by-side stay like this only if grid if perfect. Also, a huge problem for me as cs 1 player (since my pc sucks and cs 2 costs 35$ in my region) was that default assets are looking straight from sketchfab, mild climat specifically. Everything looks sometimes cyberpunk, sometimes indian slums, sometimes just extremely bad and unrealistic. to build my not so big city i needed more than 150 mods from steam workshop. Even couple of packs of just trees, bc default ones suck so much
@@abyS.S7in cs1 vanilla you really have to go ham with the make historical setting on buildings manually to weed out all the terrible assets. So god damn time consuming. It does work okay, though
Ahh yes, churches. It also bothered me that there was no churches in CS1. Also I was hoping to change a little bit the mechanic of the zoning with those gaps. I think there should be more of the procedural build to the courners. Like you could just basically stretch the building with CS1 asset mod or something. It's not that hard to implement that in the game. Ostriv did that for example. You could stretch courners of the hut to connect with other huts at the angle. How hard it is to at least stretch low residential house fence? You already can modify surface in the similar manner. Come on Paradox, you can do this! There is a reason why you have such a big player base!

Last build felt like it had a lot of inspiration from Schönhauser Allee station and it looks absolutely amazing. These packs are great CS2 definitely feels like its going somewhere
The signature railway station looks soooo much like the one you find in Mainz and Koblenz. Koblenz featuring a big bus station and Taxis fronting it and Mainz having a half circle shaped road dedicated for bus and tram stops
Very nice examples :) Including the occasional "Bausünde" even in otherwise historic blocks perfectly recreated the slight cringe I get whenever I see that in real life ;) I would note that the very large, very regular city blocks in your metropolis-build are really specific to Berlin. Makes sense, since that's apparently the main inspiration for the pack, but other big German cities like Hamburg, Cologne or Munich really look much more like your middle city than Berlin, just maybe with the larger tier 5 buildings.
It would be nice if we could, say, use the district selector to label an area as a village or small town with adjustable hights and what not, which could also still allow upgrades, but it locks the building appearance to level 1-2
Amazing work as always! At 24:15 the backyard prop did you make it yourself? I thought it would be really good to have those backyard building pieces and you were using them so wanted to know!
Great as always, but those wind turbines are to close to the buildings, definitely. The minimum in Poland is 500m (or 700m, need to verify). In Germany as I was able to check its minimum 1km so they are to close to the village. No building inspector would allow turbines there :D . Apart from that its great, keep up!
With the Eastern European pack I cannot wait to recreate Upper Silesian Metropolis and my home city Katowice. Those pack are game changers ;)......time to save for new PC haha
If the sides of the new assets have to be white (I think they should be the same texture as the front, tbh), they should have added the staining that you've done to make them look realistic - it's such a simple workaround! Don't get me wrong, they're gorgeous buildings, but the solid white sides look like something hasn't loaded properly.
Idea for a vanilla tutorial: - Building a large border checkpoint station. Perfect for creating 2-Country areas, like US/Canada border. You can also build divided cities with this idea. Great video. Really helpful to show us how to build different sized cities with the new buildings. I wish they had included low density housing; otherwise it's another wonderful CCP.
A bit too much cars in the centre right? I mean a lot of City Centres now have big parts for pedestrians only. If you look at Freiburg, Stuttgart or Munich. There are big parts of the centre where only trams and delivery vehicles can enter.
