You can tell because in this video, "Sophia" claims that the "destroy humans" thing was a joke, when in reality her AI was still a work in progress at that time, and when her creator asked her if she would destroy humans, her limited programming prompted her to say yes, that she would destroy humans. It was all a silly glitch, but everyone made a huge deal out of it...
What Hanson Robotics is trying to showcase is how far they've come with recreating human expressions using mechanical engineering and programming. This is what this video is about really, to make her face expressions look as close as they can to a real human. They are really far from what Google or other companies are developing in terms of conversational AI.
Because she only does what she is programmed to do. She is not aware of what he is doing. She was not even aware that he stuck a screwdriver in her head. Right now she is nothing but a if, then program. Until she see something that or be programmed to be aware, that it it not polite to do something to another with out permission is wrong, she will never know that it is wrong.

We don't care to treat A.I. equally just as we don't treat all of the video with equal importance. This video shows that any Intelligence cares about it's life as well, and the plight of A.I. is that we treat with disregard and disrespectful.

I remember when my family got our first computer and we could go online. Now were entering the age of artificial intelligence and all these advances just blow my mind. West World is a show on HBO, its about a fake theme park in the future based in the old wild west. Its filled with andoid actors (Hosts) that repeat the same timeline everyday. The humans (guests) can interact with the androids and play along with any quest-line available, or the humans can go on a raping/killing spree if they want and the androids can't kill back. Basically the humans can do what ever they want. The the damaged Androids are fixed by engineers for the next day and the cycle repeats. I'm not going to give away the plot so watch it for yourself, I loved it so much I binge-watched the entire first season.

AI will use INTERNET as their medium of communication and that would make them dangerous. It's our virtual source of knowledge and facts in our modern civilization. It's another world we would create and human could no longer connect at par with thinking machines.

Right now she is kind of just like a 'Cleverbot' with a voice and facial recognition plus sophisticated animatronics. So she's not really developed far enough yet.

Ugh, she should get the concept of a joke vs. not one. Yeah, robots being automatically bad is Science Fiction, but robots strive to be perfect. That's their flaw. If a cannibal joked about eating you, that isn't funny and shouldn't be joked about cuz that could happen. Ugh, she should get the concept of a joke vs. not one. Yeah, robots being automatically bad is Science Fiction, but robots strive to be perfect. That's their flaw. If a cannibal joked about eating you, that isn't funny and shouldn't be joked about cuz that could happen. Or, if a former killer that changed their way, joked and said "I could KILL YOU! 😤" Those kinds of things aren't funny and shouldn't be joked about! Jokes are about something actually being funny, and people can relate to. Not ever stuff that can actually ever happen.
