This was the last place I ran before emigrating to Sydney in 1972. Would like to go back and ring there again. Both you videos are an excellent compliation of the church the ringing room and the bells plus the view from the roof. It probably the best sound recording I have heard on you tube. I would love to hear what these bells sound like in a decent tower like York Minster or if they fixed up the terrible accoustics in the tower. Lovely Whitechapel heaviest 12 ever.
Probably the nicest ringing I have heard of these bells I ranf there once in January 1972. The relly sad thing about Liverpool is the shocking accoustics in such a huge belfry. Im no accoustic enginner but think a false ceiling above the bells would be good plus accoustic insulation on the walls and floor would be brilliant. The ringing room is also vety moody and depressing, it like a dungeon. I have heard it said that if you want to hear the bells then go to Birkenhead over th ed Mersey. Im sure if the accoustics were installed they would be a magical set of bells to listen to. Iwonder if the accoustic problem will ever be resolved, but its all about the folding stuff, the cash

The tone of the bells is such that it makes it incredibly difficult to hear individual bells:
TOTALLY AGREED!!

Nice pic of Len's right moob at 3:31
Some years ago I rang there in Holy week when the bells were half muffled - clarity of handstokes was superb - backstrokes ? didn,t really score!
It is worth noting that Giles Gilbert Scott's other iconic design - on a totally different scale - is visible at 2.10!
Bugger you 8spliced (aka. Rich) at 2.51!
12 bells plus a sharp 2nd the bourdon is cast by john taylor
@Aerozine50 I don't think so...
