The replay was played during the day. It was during the 3 day week era and use of floodlights banned. It didn't affect the gate, as there was 42000 at UP, including me who bunked off school to be there

Great to come across this! I was there, too. I would have been 15. I have the match report in a scrapbook with a photo showing spectators on the roof of a neighbouring block of flats! Surprised the film doesn’t mention the - I think - unprecedented midweek afternoon kick-off. Nick Hornby in ‘Fever Pitch’ makes reference to this match when describing an Arsenal game played in the daytime for the same reason. Thanks for the posting!
The mid-week FA Cup game was in 74, and Hereford won 2-1 at Edgar Street in a replay after drawing away at West Ham.

Amazing footage. Muddy pitches all cut up, Referee dressed in black and 43,000 on the terraces for a daytime cup tie. Just don't get matches like this anymore.
What a Cup run for Hereford Utd that year.....and Addison got them into the Football League a year or two later, two, reaching the Heights of (then) Division Two, before folding and dropping back down the league.
Biggest away support to converge on Upton park throughout the 70s, gates were locked on 42,800 some famous old pictures across football sites on Internet of fans on top of the flats behind the old northbank. ..... great days before 'health and safety' (fleecing the punters) was even a thing.
