- Here we are again, finding ourselves in the beautiful city of Dublin, experiencing another little moment in Ireland. It's the band DUG again, whomst you may remember from their last outing on the channel, in an abandoned warehouse in Dublin ( • DUG, "Jubilee," // Gem... . Lorkin O'Reilly is the guitarist there, joined by banjo player Jonny Pickett and this time by fiddle player Gareth Quinn Redmond. That was a surprise spring smash hit, and after that recording dropped they landed a label deal and a booking agent. It's kind of crazy what sway y'all who watch these have to change lives.
This time, we find ourselves out in the beautiful and notoriously stinky Dublin bay, getting a tour from "The Old Liffey Ferry Experience". They are an awesome group that does a lot of work with young folks recovering from addiction, helping them with sea training and education. This go around they gave us some crucial info on the bay, and let DUG play a little at sea. Cheers, fellas.
We are also joined by Luke Brabazon again, behind the camera. He has been a recurring collaborator since I met him on my last trip to Dublin, at a house show he was throwing in his flat. Thanks to him again, and to Steve O'Connor on the 2nd camera, J Smith helping with audio.
From Lorkin,
"Big Sundown is a song about Irish immigration to Australia. My parents met over there in the late 80's and it always filled my head with vivid images of vast deserts and beaches. Obviously, filming there wasn't an option so instead we opted for Dublin port. The first part of any immigrants journey to the golden shores."

[Intro]
[Verse 1]
Well when I was a child my mother told me "Son"
Don't succumb to ??? wait for your day to come
Dad drank like a fish, watching Geronimo
On the couch with his belly out and a cloud of Richmond smoke
We snuck around the back with the light of the TV go
[Chorus]
Tell me where or when could I leave
Take your brother's car, I'll drive for free
The pylon eyes are coming 'round on the day of the big, day of the big sundown
[Interlude]
[Verse 2]
I worked all summer saving, up to five and miss
I was cutting grass in the cul-de-sac on a two stroke cooled Cadet
I was dreaming of the bushmen and the northern desert sky
Martin Cash and Old Ball Jack in the Great Australian Bight
Well I pushed that motor around every goddamn house in town
[Chorus]
Tell me where are we going, what's the plan
We could cut cloth in the promised land
I could see you smile man, riding out on the way to the big, way to the big sundown
[Bridge]
Cause a road will open up
And at least that's what I hope
What I hope, what I hope it does
[Interlude]
[Verse 3]
Well we got to Darwin harbour, was the fall of 83
??? by a sewage treatment facility
Said you couldn't find the end of a shovel cause you can't teach stupid how
Now boys had fellas, it's now or never and these holes don't fill itselves
I said thank you very much, but I think we'd best be off
[Chorus]
Tell me wehere are we going or when can we stop
Directing Jimmy Cook man, never felt lost
I wonder if he turned around, way to the big, way to the big sundown
[Bridge]
Cause a road will open up
And at least that's what I hope
What I hope, what I hope it does
[Outro]
