'Connection', Light installations by Bart Ensing, made from 2016 to 2024.

My light installations are a place where people can marvel and relax, a meditative experience. I usually make them in (a) tree(s); with thread I connect the branches of the tree with the ground it grows from. The resulting multiple layers of parallel lines give an intriguing effect. On this basis I make variations, using diagonal lines, colour, gradually chaning colour of light. The threads reflect the light and create a fairytale effect.
People can walk into the installation and really experience it. This makes people connect with the tree, with nature. They can serve as a place for people to meditate, or where small-scale performances (music, dance) are given. An oasis of quiet in the lively atmosphere of a light festival.
I mostly made them for night walks, but increasingly I also make them at (larger) light festivals at home and abroad.
