@iotube Mine did the same thing this weekend. It was an update to Windows and the Wifi worked for about 2 hours and then it just disappeared and Windows now complains that the driver is not loading and it can't detect the wifi card. And I did turn on and off airplane mode to no affect. I was talking with Frank this weekend and he said what happened to me is the same. Reloading Windows with the older version probably did fix it because you rolled back. Don't let Windows update again.
I somehow, or someone else, turned on airplane mode, and I couldn't figure out why nothing RF was working on my computer. Somehow, I didn't notice the airplane icon until about an hour into troubleshooting.🤦♂ This doesn't explain why your audio isn't working unless there's a missing driver from that particular computer.
I was happy to add you to my log Saturday. You were also my first for sure confirmed and clear HF voice contact. And I'm only a tech and been licensed since August 2023. Worked you with an IC7000 at 100w while rolling mobile with a 10m hamstick on hitch mount, in a valley, in central PA.

I did a POTA this weekend with an EFHW oriented NW at the top of the mast to SE at the feed point. From Maine I got contacts as far as Oregon to the west, the Dominican to the south and Moscow to the east, most states east of the Mississippi and eight different European countries. Sometimes it's just propagation and not antenna orientation.
I love my Comet GP-6. I have been using it for quite a few years now. Similar install, I have it on the roof of my second story. The only difference is my ham shack is also on the second floor. I did have a sad ham giving me grief on my coax and all the loss. He was quoting loss per hundred foot like he was John the Baptist. He kept missing that I said my run was 22’ all in. I kind of figured at that point I would do me, and let him do him and just enjoy my antenna. You can see a picture of it on my QRZ page. My EFHW for HF is mounted just below my Comet.

From EN80al (my location) I can reach a few repeaters like Lima, Bellefontaine, Kenton and Marion, they're not a bad budget antenna and I'm sure I could get more if i could get it up higher. I have a DX Commander on my front lawn. Now I know they have a high noise floor, but we have no overhead power lines here. Could the underground power cables be affecting my many many ground plane wires ? Just had that thought while watching your vid. Just a thought I need to find out more about. Great video
How Did Tank Radio Break My Laptop? I have seen this happen to one of my own laptops after a windows update! Fortunately I always download a full set of drivers as the first thing I do with any new laptop. In my case the only driver I needed was the "chipset driver" once I installed this everything started working again and MS updates has not corrupted the drivers since!
I just added a ssd to my gen 1 evolve 3. installed windows 10 fresh and can't find drivers for anything. image your EMMC drive before anything happens so you have a backup.
These Evolve III's appear to have an uncommon audio chip in it making it difficult to get the right driver. You may be able to get hints from Linux installs as they were eecently able to add audio support.
I killed two of those craptops, once was my fault, but the second was because I wiped the keyboard with a lightly damp cloth and it would boot loop until I disconnected the keyboard. Microcenter took both back and third time was the charm, so far. However I had to reset it once because it stopped being able to take Windows updates.

Dorked with it for days. Finally, after every software thing you could do, I opened it up, and the ribbon cable was out of its socket. Work like normal after.
It sounds like RF kill, sometimes the buttons/function keys aren't labelled. He or someone could have enabled RFkill by accident. Then when you reloaded the OS is disabled the RFkill. Or it's just a crappy laptop and something broke...
Mike, With your PC showing speakers unknown, It sounds like your intel DQ77MK Realtek drivers are missing. Google the drivers and reload them for windows 64 bit and once installed, reboot your PC and hopefully you back in business. 73 KV50
I have 4 Macs and a Linux laptop. If you look at 6:45 a MS anything OS, it will break. No MS for me. Last MS product I had was Win 95. My hydraulic crumpet gets here tomorrow, lookin forward to getting it. Looks really cool, had to get one. Ham & lure rigging! WW7GBA Louis

David, K5DLD. I had to reinstall Windows 10 also. My speakers are gone also. I bought a cheap USB sound dongle and that got me speakers.
