We live in the Bay Area, can't get my wife to go to San Francisco anymore. Just too unsafe. And we're from Vallejo originally! And it's too unsafe for us! That's sad.
We moved from rural CA to the Bay Area for work, and I worked in SF until COVID hit. I stepped over human feces and used needles on the street EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. There were streets I couldn't even walk down because they smelled so bad (for example, Beale between Market and Mission) - the entire street smelled like a portapotty that had been sitting in the hot sun for a week. That place deserves every bit of the bad reputation it has. Moved out of that hellscape back to the country 3 years ago. You couldn't pay me enough to move back there.
