You gotta read Never Let Me Go! That last Lady Trent book is wild, can't wait to hear what you think of it. I want to read more by Raja Shehadeh. I am reading The Last Unicorn atm and really enjoying it. Looking fwd to Lonely Castle in the Mirror.
The Last Unicorn is one of my favourite favourite favourite things ever, I watched the movie a million times as a kid and own 4 copies of the novel. Wait, 5.
Just finished The Dark Times! I read all three and def recommend doing it that way. For me it was better than the second installment and almost as good as the first installment.
ok am I stupid or were there no "sh!ts"? like isn't there usually a biggest disappointment questions? i can't believe you've never read never let me go - it's one of my favorites!
Oh shit you’re right! Why does this feel like some Mandela effect thing?! Did I just accidentally skip the question? 😅 Well, just for you, the biggest disappointments would probably be Tempest of Tea, Study in Drowning, Alebrijes, Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi, and then two disappointing books I DNF’d were Chlorine and Haldol and Hyacinths.
Adventures of Amina el Sarafi was SUSCH a disappointment 😞 for me too. Really silly characterisation, she seemed so immature and not at all what I thought I was going to get.@@KateyOneMoreTime
I've been in a huge slump, just pecking at books here and there. Earlier this year, I was reading a little from craft books about intuitive novel writing that were interesting but I kind of fell off. I'm also reading a short academic book: Folklore Rules: A Fun, Quick, and Useful Introduction to the Field of Academic Folklore Studies by Lynne S. McNeill. It's helping me see folklore in a new light, and it's really fun!
All my recent reads have been digital as I've been exploring my library's online catalogue. The Giant Days comics kept me company during a recent cold. They're bright, funny, and the humour/antics reminded me a lot of Louise Rennison, so it felt like revisiting an old friend. Around that same time I listened to the entirety of an audio fiction podcast called Midnight Burger, which follows the adventures of a time-travelling, dimension-spanning diner which pops up in a new world each day. It's funny and has found family vibes, like Doctor Who with more adult humour. This in turn led me to finally listen to the Murder-bot audiobooks! I have just finished the first full-length novel, which I didn't love as much as the novellas, but think I will stick with it. I have never really read sci fi, and I'm loving it!
I loved seeing Kaikeyi on the shelf behind you. This is my favorite read in the first half of 2024. Thanks for all the new TBR's to add to my list.
I haven't been reading as much as I would like to. I'd like to do this tag.
Loved this and I am the same way about book crushes :)

‘Pecking at books’ - I love that, you and me both! I preordered Thyme Travellers last week, I’m very excited! 🥰
Have you watched The Remains of the Day or Never Let Me Go? Theyre such brilliant movies, some of my favourites ever! New subscriber here❤
Hello! Welcome! I have seen Remains movie, but not NLMG! I still need to read that book first!

I had a hardback copy of Carpentaria with like a tomato red slip jacket
The one you found is very beautiful! Special to find a limited edition in savers!
Omg I’ve never seen that version before! How cool!
