Sorry but I think you are wrong, Geike brought something no other had and that's SOUL and PASSION, she didn't ruinned anything, Noemie though has good technique, she lacks of soul/passion (and in sharp notes she cant deliver) in my opinion she doesn't transmit anything to yu just a nice performance. I hope Luka can be almost as good as Geike, she has the "style" though for my taste is too quiet/peaceful when sometimes you need what Geike has, this thing that rip off your heart out from your chest and makes you feel what she is singing, the passion of Geike is not easy to copy. Do this simple exercise, look for Mad about you for each one of the girls (Geike, Noemie, Luka) and with no doubt you will prefer Geike, probably then Luka
Cthulhu, the singer when the band was formed was Esther Lybeert (95/96) then came Liesje Sadonius (96/97) then Kyoko Bartsoen (97), then came Geike Arnaert which in my opinion was the best until today (and lasted more than any of the others). Now they have a new singer Luka Cruysberghs she sounds pretty nice, has more passion than Noemie, but...for me too smooth jazzy, let's see what she does, no judgement at this time :-)
Of all the songs by Hooverphonic, in any time, only Geike can sing this one. It's a trademark.

Noemie has a perfect voice, no doubt.. But this song just doesn't feel complete without Geike's flunctuations and cracks.
I prefer the noeime version

Best Hooverphonic song hands down. Reminds me vividly of my 9th grade year and the crush I had on a beautiful little brunette. Cut to walking down the hall with her in the distance and this song on my MiniDisc player and me passing her, eyes quickly contacting with anticipation of each of us saying something to the other, but both shy and just continuing on our way. Me reliving that moment later that night while replaying the song, hoping she was doing the same......

For the people who don't speak Dutch I was curious about Geike because she's singing now with a Dutch band and when I was researching her I found hooverphonic again! When I was hearing this song I thought oh f*** yeah that song from 2001 if you wanna hear her Dutch song it's called Zoutelande from blof ft. Geike Arnaert. Greetz from a Dutchie who's residing in Germany.

Ik kijk alvast uit naar de Try Out in Gent met haar nieuwe songs.
Musikalisch sind Geike und Noemie verschieden, aber beide auf hohem Niveau. In der Performance auf der Bühne hat Noemie die Nase vorn. Unerreicht ihr Auftritt 2012 im Elisabethzaal. Natürlich ist das alles Geschmacksache, aber für mich ist Noemie Wolfs diejenige, die ich bei Hooverphonic am liebsten höre und sehe.
