Fantastic bit of footage! I've seen so many vids of this place, but you've provided a completely different perspective - basically the same comment as the Aussie below. Just great to see all the people and how close the houses are and the break-water, it all makes sense now. The little filler clips with details is a nice touch too, the surfer ploughing through the mat-men and them all ducking, such a great video and nicely edited. Top work mate!
The wedge is over crowded but if you notice a lot of good waves still go unridden because it's the wedge. if you know this wave you can be in the right spot for the epic ones
Looks like the Phantom 3 camera setup is really clean. Looking to get the same setup. Even low light looked clean. Shot at 4K standard settings? Surf looks great too. Go to the wedge occasionally to video too. Usually in the water. Nice video!
Are there restrictions for flying drones in Newport Beach? I'm having a little party there in two days and I want to bring my drone there and I want to film some footage
Nice video, I live in Australia and have watched alot of wedge videos and its good with the drone footage to get an idea what the whole beach looks like. Its a pritty massive breakwall, does the whole beach get waves or does it close out even worse?
My Aussie friend, I've body-boarded at the Wedge when it was huge, about 18 feet, very scary--especially since the wave breaks so close to the shore. The rip current is always something to fight against.
+Sean Crump Currently there are no laws prohibiting flight altitude, however, there is a proposed FAA law that would restrict the maximum altitude to 500ft. No minimum altitude is called out in the proposed drone law, however, the law would state "May not operate over anyone not directly involved in the operation". So, flying over the surfers could be questionable. I currently do not fly any lower than 20ft above the water out of fear of being hit by overspray.
Stunning! Love flying over the Pacific Ocean. You never know what you will capture!
Another beautiful day in Southern California ....
Wow so beautiful... I like surf movies but this is art !
Amazing shots, nice work!

Or if you have the balls to takeoff late

+Audiostoke The largest waves are close to the break wall; the farther from the break wall you go the smaller the waves get.
