This gentleman is my favorite bike restorer. His videos are informative and fun. The bike in this video is definitely a work of art when he finishes working on it.
Come on now, those older Colnagoes were very heavy even for steel bikes. My wife has one down in the garage and though it is a 54 my 62 Moser is a great deal lighter. Ekar? That's an MTB group. My Aliverti is perhaps 22 lbs without the flat kit and water bottle and has absolutely flawless handling. I suppose that it was built by a subcontractor of DeRosa. You can still have new steel Tomassinis built. Waterford "racing" builds very close to the same weight as carbon fiber pro bikes and they don't break. While I appreciate looking at accurate restorations I absolutely do not like like riding 23 mm high pressure tires.
They do ride well, the clearances on my Moser with 28mm tires is so tight that it will pick up stones and jam them in the brake bridges which feels like you put the brakes on. When the speed gets below 7 kph it falls out.
Surely that has got to be the sexiest bike ever, a timeless look coupled with a modern drive chain and components. Absolutely stunning. That truly shows how stylish retro bikes can be, and how they really will outlast a lot of modern bikes.
Thanks William for the comment on the Colnago Master Piu 11 Speed video. This is now my special summer bike, it really is a great ride and confirms to me that Steel really is real. It rides so smooth yet is a lot more forgiving. Thanks for the support all the best Andy
So beautiful, really great work man. I was one of main mechanics at the bicycle pro shop in Washington DC, ln business since 1958. I built great wheels there. I know this bike, we were a colnago dealer. I met Ernesto colnago , first thing he comes in the back and looks at all the old world class tools and gives me his autograph. He spoke no English, me no Italian, but he gave me that look of respect. One older mechanic to another older mechanic. One of two of the greatest experiences of my 32 years in the shops. Beautiful conversion and keeping it retro. Ernesto would be proud. Crack on bro.
Wow, well thank you for your words of support watching and sharing your personal story, means a lot from someone with so much experience. All the best plenty more to come 👍🚲🚲🚲
What a stunning Colnago Master build, the frame is gorgeous and the mix of new/old components is perfect! Love the Delta brakes and the engraving.. PERFECT.. A credit to you!!
+Michiel Oosterhuis thanks for tuning in, the daccordi should be a lovely build, it's one I haven't done yet! I cannot praise the Groupset enough really love this Colnago Master, you will love it. Enjoy! 👍🚴
I just watched this for a second time. Fab.! I am not very practical so when you started engraving those expensive new parts I was cringing. But you clearly know what you are doing. Your enthusiasm, admiration and artistry was obvious, and, in my case, infectious.
+Roy Gardiner 👍nice comment I have decided to keep this ride. It's one bike I love looking at so I've decided to have this one for best and taking on holiday. I'm glad the video inspires you and hope that you get a restoration going yourself. All the best good luck and thanks for your comment
@@BikeItUK Your choice components and attention to detail is impeccable. That fork with its sweeping caster looks so period, graceful and elegant. It gives the bike synosure. Yes, keep the bike. It's the right decision. That said, I'm a bit of a hoarder so perhaps not the best to advise on such matters.
Grazie ancora per la visione e il supporto, sì, Colanago era davvero una build speciale, il migliore dei due mondi. Grazie per la visione e il tuo supporto
+Simon Bailey hi thanks for the comment and watching! To be honest with you I took my inspiration from a guy in Australia company called Cyclo Retro Amazing I engraving 👍🚲all the best Andy
@@BikeItUK I still own two Masters one in WordPerfect colors 1994 and one in Rabobank colors 2002. They both are in great condition. One is full Chorus and the other full Record. Last of the C-Record era stuff.
An absolute dream bike. Vintage Colnagos are my favourites, so of course I would go for the Colnago bottle 😀 Huge thanks for this video! I really like your enthusiasm👍
Greetings from Canada, just found your channel and I am in love with the rides. I have been doing the same thing for 30+ years and find you mesmerizing. Thanks for giving an old Canuck the drive to keep it right!
A big thank you 🙏🏻 without the viewers and the supportIng comments I receive then the channel wouldn’t exist. As you are aware restoring a bike is very rewarding! 🚲 All the very best Andy
What a fantastic restoration. Brilliant ideas and use of retro parts with modern components. The bike looked stunning. Great editing too, it's not just about the nuts n' bolts. Well worth the wait.
I'm "newish" to serious cycling and live in N. Italy 🇮🇹. You and many others have given 'steel' frames such great accolades I am actively looking for one as my primary. I personally like/appreciate the craftsmanship and look of the 90s bikes. Yes I appreciate the carbon frames, but as with my car preference, polished metal just looks FANTASTIC! Love ❤️ your channel;-)
Hello and a big thank you for your support the Colnago’s have a nice touch on the lugs. Do agree with you, I to have my Carbon rides but their is something romantic and artistic in the older rides which make them timeless 👍🚲 all the best and good luck finding your ride

Just an impeccable and amazing job Andy! The Colnago Master turned out great and well worth the wait, your attention to detail and commitment to a period correct build makes this an unforgettable build, congratulations on a job well done! Cheers
I have been watching your videos for a while. This one is another level . The engraving technique, the painting makes this bike really be unique . Watching you so happy when riding/ building it makes me wanna say Don't sell it ! Keep it ! You deserve it and it's your piece of art. Chapeau bas !
+Vlad Biciclistul thank you for your comment. It really is a nice ride, I love the fact that It looks so retro but rides well and hard. Let's see I'm not rushing to sell, I'll have to thin some bike out though it's getting crazy in there. Thanks again Andy
I used to have a lovely Woodrup with Campag Record made in Leeds from Reynolds 531C tubing, when I was in the Ashford Wheelers in Kent in the early 80s. Wish I'd kept hold of it and had it restored by someone like your good self! I currently ride a 20 year old Casati with Columbus Aluminum frame made in Monza with a Campag groupset.
Ha ha fare enough funny, Thanks for the comment yes it really is something else the Colnago Master I have had a few people now saying keep it. we will see. thanks again Andy
Great stuff, those campag rrecord brakes brought back memories,I had a Peugeot racer back in the day with those on,they were a pain to get the cables in and adjust and the inner cable had to be the perfect length or I couldn’t get the covers on,but looked soooo good 😉
Hi thanks for watching yes the brakes still look the business to this day but yes I had a lot of trouble fine tuning them and the stopping power isn’t that great either, look amazing though👍 thanks again for the support all the best Andy
Andy- what a beauty. When done well, It proves combining old and new together can work really well. Those caliper brakes are works of art and I'm thinking of buying a pair for my mantelpeice.....
+Simon Budd Hi Simon thanks for the support and comment. I still can't stop looking at the Colnago Master Piu frame. Your right about the callipers they are very beautiful and are somewhat of a iconic 80's cycling iconic item. Thanks again Andy
Absolutely stunning, fantastic build. Love the post modern group set. I would have added a white saddle and Alligator cable kit in Italian colours or white outer cables, just because ;) Next Italian build is the Tomassini Tecno with Coloumbus EL? Lotto bottle!
I'm not usually a fan of modern parts on old frames, but this has been pulled off so so well, I absolutely love this build, great attention to detail. Great build and great video as always!
+euan roy you know what, thanks for the compliment! It means more the fact that your not a fan of the modern components! A lot of thought went into this and I was aware of the unwritten rules so to speak. A lot of fans was asking for a mix up and with Campagnolo C-Record vintage group sets becoming rare and asking a fortune it seemed a natural progression to take the build this way. The bike bikes so will it really does. Thanks and all the very best Andy
+Chris Mad 😂I'm glad, I'm not just saying this but I have just got it back from the studios having a photo shoot done, girls and bikes for a Christmas Calendar and I didn't realise how much i missed it. It is up For Sale on eBay at the moment but it will be going on the website as soon as we are live we will be able to offer it at a better price. Thanks again Andy
Wow, beautiful build. And silver components are the perfect choice on vintage and steel bikes. Wonder how you protected the parts after polishing? Did they need a clear coat or other?
Thanks for watching and the support. I ridden and had this bike for a couple of years with no problems with the metal at all, the rubbing compounds leave a protective coating on the metal. I hope this helps Andy
Thanks for the comment and support! no greener or cooler way to get around town than on a recycled Retro historic piece of Colnago Art, thanks again Andy
great bike, still trying to get hold of a colnago master myself. I do prefer the straight fork though. Love what you have done to it, all the polishing and engraving but, due to the wide front chain ring I do think an Athena five arm crankset would have been a better choice. The delta brakes are magnificent though.
That is a very beautiful bike with many unique features. It has got to be the ultimate and most elegant Colnago. The Delta brakes and engraving are particularly nice touches
Thanks for the supporting comment means a lot. The bike turned out better than expected not just the looks the ride is just like a modern ride but better! Thanks again Andy
Oh Andy, i finally had some time to watch the video. i knew it was there but i wanted to watch it uninterrupted. You have there my dream bike and i was sitting here getting excited just watching. it was great seeing your ear to ear grin while riding it as i would be doing just that! Awesome choice of parts and another wicked job. It was like watching my dream in video format! You will have to excuse me now as i need to watch it again.
+Coopoli Restorations thank you for a great supporting comment. Really appreciate it. Yes it turned out better than expected and I really couldn't believe how well it rode. Thanks again all the best Andy
Nice bike restoration Love the Delta brakes Hate the Potenza crankset - looks too bulky and certainly not in keeping with the other components. 10 speed components are more in keeping with this iconic Colnago frame
Hmmm ok, honest I like the Shimano shifters more, but thats where it ends the Campagnolo groupset runs really smooth and looks great! As for bikes its a tuff call the Colnago really does feel a live, where as the Canyon although ultra light it just dosnt have that real feel if that makes sense. Thanks for the comment and watching Andy
About "real feel".. That's always the tough part, init? Some bikes you want the feel to be perfect because you love the look, group, wheels, etc., and then the bikes you don't particularly like because of the looks, groupset etc., are often the ones that feel the best. I went to a Trek demonstration where you got to take their bikes out for a spin if you bring your own pedals and shoes. I test rode one of the intermediate Madone's and it was like riding in paradise. Everything (handling, climbing, descending, shifting, braking, comfort) about it was perfect, except for the looks. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. Next big purchase I make is going to be strictly about feel. I don't care what color, frame design or groupset.
siskokidd: That's also my problem. Many of these super modern bikes are not giving me the slightest emotion of "wanna have". There are only a few of them, for example the Look 795 Aerolight with pro team paintjob from 2015 or the newer Colnagos who give that. That limits me to a few models available on the market. I just can't motivate me to spend money on an emotionless Trek, Specialized Canyon or alike. Allthough i know that they build good bikes. A dilemma :-S
BikeIt UK: I really like your built. But i would have gone with the Athena 11 speed silver version instead. Their cranks look more retro/classic than the Potenza crank. And the front and rear derailleur are completely silver. But they are sadly out of production now. I guess that was the reason why you went with the Potenza? I still do have my Colnago Master Olympic frame and straightfork in the basement and are collecting parts of the Campagnolo Athena 11 speed groupset for a complete build. Link: japanese-vintage-bike.blogspot.de/2013/05/relist-colnago-master-olympic-team.html Not my frame and link but the same design (AD9) Team Lampre. It's a mid 90th frame, so i can go for silver polished deep section rims from Araya with hubs i have still not yet decided wich. Link: www.flickr.com/photos/thors10/3338144713 Mine are 28 hole both. Will look amazing with the frames cromed rear and fork.
I owned a Blue Competition RC8 for a time (until it was stolen), and the main reason I bought it was because of the feel, balance and stability. shortly into the test ride I took my hands off the bars and sat up while at a slow speed. It tracked straight, true and stable. It wasn't a crit bike, had a moderate relaxed geometry, but still built for speed, distance, climbing and descending. It felt like it was worth every pricey penny, and I rode the hell out of it. That's my standard. Tough to find, though. That right combination of frame, components, alignment, seat, wheels, tires... Another test run was on a Cervelo R3, and while I didn't like the look at all, it was the best handling bike I've ever been on. It would eat up rough pavement like you wouldn't believe. Places where I ordinarily wouldn't pedal, I could power through. It was amazing, actually.
"I can't stop looking at it!" I still say the same thing when I ride my 1986 Tommasini Racing I bought new in my 20s. Italian Art! I also have that same Seat, but in Blue and pretty well worn. Thanks for sharing your passion!
Thanks for watching and few have said now the Colnago bottle. Id been asked a lot could I mix it up and I was paying more for a c-record groupset than a new one. I'd seen this style done before and liked the look of it but always wanted to showcase the delta brake callipers so thought it would make a good mix up! Thanks again Andy
I had a Hercules back in the late 1950s . . . my first REAL bike . . . and loved it until it got too small for me. I followed it with an Elswick-Hopper with Benelux derailleur . . . happy days.
Sure has, now comes the exciting (but expensive) part - sourcing a frame and all the new trimmings . Thanks for help I’m sure I’ll be watching one or two more videos when I find something that won’t fit lol 👍🏻
What a fantastic bike build. Amazing touches like the engraving. But what's most amazing is that I was thinking of the triangle Campag calipers. As a teenager I though they were brakes from the future!! And then you ditched the ones in the groupset and went for them instead! Ha! Brilliant!!
Great Video. It would be really handy to see what you do to restore the paint on frames, from quick touch ups, to more involving overhauls. Keep the good content coming! Kudos.
Hi thanks for watching and the support. I have done a dedicated video on restoring and touching up Frames. See in the How to section on our channel. For a more in-depth video a complete overhaul watch the Graham Weigh Road Bike Restoration that one gets the full first aid treatment. Thanks again and all the very best Andy
@@BikeItUK Thanks for the reply! I'll definitely check your video out and view the video you have recommended. What nice vintage bike builds can we expect in the new year? :)

Ernesto Colnago himself couldn't of hooked this bike up better... it came out perfect... the engraving on the brakes and the inclusion of the brakes themselves was just a brilliant maneuver... really makes the bike pop...such a beautiful Italian Classic
Back again, my friend, thank you I cannot believe the response this build is having on viewers, I really cannot keep up. Im a little worried I have raised the bar to much here now! Thanks again Andy
lol,!! yeah, you really outdid yourself this time, and in the process spoiled your audience rotten... I dunno how you can top this.. I don't expect you to though... this was just a really, really special build...
You look so happy riding that bike! The bike is definitely a keeper don't ever let it go! Waiting for my Colnago opportunity to come one of these days. Great vid!
Thanks Johnny, its overwhelming the amount of people saying keep hold of it. Its not only good out on the road but also looks amazing hanging on the wall. Thanks for the support all the best Andy

Wow you must have splashed some serious cash on this baby. Beautiful bike , I’ve always wanted a Colnago, I suppose I’ll just have to make do with my 1998 Bianchi Mega Pro XL .
Yes the Colnago was a labour of love and lost money on that one, some of the builds just take over. Your Bianchi sounds nice I’ve still yet to feature one on here. Thanks for your support all the best
Colnago bottle. Just found your channel and love your videos, takes me back to my racing days 80/90's. I know the feeling of this restore as I ride a Master X light with Chorus 11 speed. Great combination of traditional and modern. Keep them coming

Parabéns, essa bike é muito linda ! Meu sonho é um dia ter uma bicicleta dessa. Abraços.
I'll never forget this bike build . Wow
Very happy you’ve enjoyed watching the Colnago Master Road Bike build 👍 all the best and thanks for the support Andy
Absolutely stunning, fantastic build. Love the post modern group set. I would have added a white saddle and Alligator cable kit in Italian colours or white outer cables, just because ;)
Next Italian build is the Tomassini Tecno with Coloumbus EL?
Im still watching this video over and over....what a master piece.....i want this bike! In my collection ,what happened with this colnago?
+Chris Mad 😂I'm glad, I'm not just saying this but I have just got it back from the studios having a photo shoot done, girls and bikes for a Christmas Calendar and I didn't realise how much i missed it. It is up For Sale on eBay at the moment but it will be going on the website as soon as we are live we will be able to offer it at a better price. Thanks again Andy
What an absolute BEAUTY!
Thanks for tuning in
Wow, beautiful build.
Love it!!! Please keep doing these kind of builds! I love seeing the respect that you give the older bikes!
3 Italian Magic C!!!!
Colnago
Campagnolo
Columbus
Love it! 👍🚲

Had me worried when the Shimano box arrived
😂funny as if.... thanks for watching and the comment all the best Andy
i wish i could give you 3 likes. 1 for the Colnago, 1 for the choice of components and 1 for the sheer radiating excitement of yours
Thanks for your supporting comment all the very best Andy
Nice bike restoration
Love the Delta brakes
Hate the Potenza crankset - looks too bulky and certainly not in keeping with the other components. 10 speed components are more in keeping with this iconic Colnago frame
Thanks for comment and watching! All the best Andy
Wow that's stunning , Colnago Master slx tubing . Nuff said
+andrew Geary 👍just got this back from a photo shoot for a calendar we are having done. I didn't realise How attached I'd become to it 🚴
Do you know the weight?
Why? So what..........?
preciosa bici felicitaciones .....ojala te quedes con ella para que subas vídeos montando esa hermosa joya !saludos desde COLOMBIA!!!
Now that you have a bike with 11 speed Campagnolo how does it perform compared to the 11 speed Shimano system that you have on your Canyon?
I don't care what color, frame design or groupset.
siskokidd:
That's also my problem.
BikeIt UK:
I really like your built.

Not my frame and link but the same design (AD9) Team Lampre.
It's a mid 90th frame, so i can go for silver polished deep section rims from Araya with hubs i have still not yet decided wich.

Mine are 28 hole both.
Thanks for watching and your support it’s much appreciated all the best. I still need to get my hands on a Tommasini 🤔
Colnago Bottle. I Love the Bike but why not retro parts?
Thanks for watching and few have said now the Colnago bottle. Id been asked a lot could I mix it up and I was paying more for a c-record groupset than a new one. I'd seen this style done before and liked the look of it but always wanted to showcase the delta brake callipers so thought it would make a good mix up! Thanks again Andy
Fantastic build! Keep this bike. Gotta go Colnago bottle!
Thanks for watching and the comment! All the best Andy
how much cost whole project (colnago) money?... greeting from Bosna and Herzegovina
Hi there, and thanks for watching cost went over 2.5k without time and labour. cheers Andy
Attention to details is what makes this a stunning bike. Thank you.
Thanks for watching and the support. All the best Andy
colnago bottle
Colnago cool a few people have said that, thanks for watching and the support Andy
agreed Colnago
for me, looking at awesome masterpiece like colnago, is just a dream come true, keep on cracking my friend!
Thanks for your kind words of of support 👍
Did you know Hercules bikes?
+Jakub Strugała yes I'm aware of them yes not come across too many though
BikeIt UK yes they arent very popular but I have one and i started restoration of this bike
I hope it will Look as good as your bikes :)
I had a Hercules back in the late 1950s . . . my first REAL bike . . . and loved it until it got too small for me. I followed it with an Elswick-Hopper with Benelux derailleur . . . happy days.
55 people do not like this, i just cannot understand... This is a great video and this bike is a masterpiece.
Thanks again buddy for your support 😉👍
second!
How did I miss this 🙈 great restoration Andy, what a beautiful build very jealous
I just hope it’s given you some ideas and inspiration 👍😉
Sure has, now comes the exciting (but expensive) part - sourcing a frame and all the new trimmings . Thanks for help I’m sure I’ll be watching one or two more videos when I find something that won’t fit lol 👍🏻
Doesn't get much better than this!!!
Thanks for watching the Colnago Master Build, glad you enjoyed it thanks for the support
OMG! Behave! I'm sure I'm not alone when I say KUDOS!
One of the finest Master example I've had the pleasure to witness.
My friend a big thank you for your kind words of support. 😉
Just building another three interesting builds so make sure to Subscribe 👍
Thanks for watching all the best Andy
It turned out great. The custom engraving was a great idea. I think it is your best one yet. I do like the colnago bottle a little better.
+majorpain1251 thanks for the comment happy you like yes will have to agree with you about the Colnago best bike build yet. I love it, too much I think. Thanks again Andy
Yet another brilliant build with some incredibly well thought out finishing touches! Great work as per usual Andy!
+Tyler London 👍thanks for the supporting comment and tuning in. 😉
Your videos are so sick! So glad I found these restoration videos. Love vintage bikes! Keep it up
Thanks Harry for watching and the supporting comment. All the very best and plenty more to come! Andy
This is the build I've been waiting for you to do Andy. Stunning!
+David Wolfe thanks for the supporting comment and watching all the best Andy
Colnago bottle. Just found your channel and love your videos, takes me back to my racing days 80/90's. I know the feeling of this restore as I ride a Master X light with Chorus 11 speed. Great combination of traditional and modern. Keep them coming
+Stephen Patterson Thanks Stephen for the comment and tuning in. Really good to hear you have mixed it up also with your Colnago. I get a few comments regarding the unwritten rules. I have both Morden and Vintage bikes, this really is a winning combination, the best of both worlds. I could not believe how well the bike rode. Thanks again and welcome! All the best Andy
That's gorgeous mate - I did an uncannily similar build using a Ciocc-made Concorde a few months ago with black Potenza and the same vintage saddle. Those brakes are a thing of beauty.
+alfaromeo1996 thanks for the comment and tuning in. I have a ciocc on my wish list I used to drool over them also as a kid. Great bikes thanks again Andy
Beautiful build. I get a bit nervous when people clamp a frame tube. I always drop a seat post in and clamp that.
Good tip! Thanks for the advice and watching all the best Andy
Wrong! You think a seatpost pillar is stronger than clamping the seat-tube??? No one better clamp my C-Record aero seatpost. Ever.
I have always wanted a Colnago Master but it just hasn't happened. I can always dream !
Still time yet. Thanks for watching all the best
The frame i could never afford in the early 1990's. I had to settle for a team spec Alu Peugeot frame, with time forks. What a great resto,
Glad you liked it, the Peugeot sounds a sweet ride though. Thanks for the support
Another great resto. Brilliant looking bike.
Thanks for watching the Colnago Master video! All the best Andy
These are my fave bikes ever and ive never even rode one. They look amazing even after all these years.
+wacked outdude 🚲yes mine too...this ones now in my collection for extra special rides out now. Thanks for watching all the best Andy
The most beautiful thing i've ever seen!
😂🚲👍 Thanks for watching glad you like it
Colnago bottle cracking bike love all over of the attention to detail is a real touch well done as always i was on edge for ages waiting for this lol well worth it for sure!!
Colnago rodger that! Thanks for the comment of support happy you enjoyed it. All the very best Andy
Excellent restoration. Beautiful bike.
Thanks for watching and your support 👍🚲
Best build yet, Love the extra detail on the new groupset! It's going to be hard to let that one go!
Thanks for watching and the comment. Yes very hard If I can fill the hole in my balance then its a keeper. we will see. Never have enough cheers Andy
