"The cabinet should look like it has always been there." As we mentioned in an earlier video on this bathroom, the design is based on a simple narrative - that this room was once a butler's pantry and it was changed to a bathroom, over the years, by the original owners. Is this true? Who knows, but the purpose of the narrative is to answer questions and resolve design debates, when they crop up. This is just one reason that having a clear, unified, design concept is really key.
Very nice window with stained glass, and that it's too small is nothing, a shelf always comes in handy. Beautiful hinges. Thanks to your creativity, you managed to figure out how to get out of the situation.👍
Thanks. We made it modular, so that we could switch the cubby out (with a different back, or a drawer) The stained shelf sits on hidden legs, and is tightly fit, so that it seems to the bottom part of the cabinet. The door trim at the bottom is attached to the shelf, rather than the cabinet
The door is Wonderful but in my opinion a small drawer would've been more practical as well as more visually supportive of the weight of the door. And a good call in adding the outlet!
You’re right, we may need something to help visually. @JamesABeckHouse had the idea of adding the corner braces, which would do that as well. When making these decisions, we refer to the narrative. In this case, the cabinet is meant to look like it was always there, just modified when the room was converted to a bathroom
Hi there! It’s Mez from South Australia! Hope you are all doing well! Beautiful sunny day here in Adelaide. 21 degrees and blue sky! ❤ PS: the cubby looks great. Good place to store toilet paper or rolled up hand towels.
Either place is fine…the top could be for pretty decor and the bottom for a box of Kleenex in a pretty box. Make a cover so you don’t see the drain pipe.
Love the idea of a pretty box of Kleenex. Or, a little mirrored tray with fancy soaps and stuff. We worry that a cubby at the top would be hard to clean and collect dust. Starting to feel like it's a lot to clean, already!
Hate it when that happens. add a couple of decorative corners pieces (dont know what they are called) like the example you showed of the "china" cabinet?? but well done sir
@@ChaplineHouse oh my god I was cringing at the TV watching you both. All you need to do is balance of both sides of the same measurements. Please don't make something horrible and tacky looking.. Keep up the great work

I like the idea of the cubby on the bottom.
Thanks

Thank you! 😊
Cubby at the bottom is nice. Also, a pencil sharpened chop stick is great for removing paint without damaging the glass.
Great idea! We'll at that to the Tips & Tricks file. Thanks
It's looking beautiful
Good evening, it's Galva from Utah
I love the hinges. Nice cubby, gorgeous idea, love the glass door.
Thanks, Galva! Glad you like it
Well done! I didn't think it would look good, but it does!

Add a drawer as the bottom
A drawer might be nice to have. We could keep a hair dryer in there for guests
I would have made a small drawer
Yep, Cubby would be my choice ❤

Hi Melz! Sounds like great weather you’re having. Thanks again for spending your time with us on our channel
We really appreciate our UA-cam family ❤️
I'd put a scroll sawn panel in & cal it a "ventilator"
Interesting idea. How do you see that working? If we did that, why not make it functional?

Thanks for the tip, I think it would look great! We'll add it to the list. Maybe we'll use the other one as a template.
Put drawer at bottom
What would go in it? Hair dryer, or ???
AHHHHHHHH NOOOOO JUST extend the wood on both ends so it’s the same measurements
No cubby no cubby oh god that’s horrible no, no no
Hahaha, let’s see what other people say
Not sure that would look right 👀

Cubbies on bottom
