If these same government officials provided for charities doing the same goals privately, without being pooled from taxes, I would absolutely agree with their causes. Please do keep funding, if with your own money. They could even promote the charities so more us civilians can support as well

We should never be sending funds to other countries. The government should stop spending our money overseas, except in cases of our allies national security and ours. The best way to help other people overseas is to let our individual citizens send donations to organizations that they want to help. This would greatly lower our taxes, and allow each of us to have control of our money to donate to any overseas issues we want to help with. We are the most generous people in the world, so we would still donate a great amount of money to people in need.

Given that the job of congress is to stay within our budget and stay out of debt, they need to stop spending on nonsense programs, here or abroad, and stick with a plan to get us out of debt in 5 years, and be fired if they don't. It’s so sad that MTG seems to be the only person in all of DC who seems to know how to balance a budget. Perhaps SHE should run for President. We commonly hear from the Neocons that massive foreign aid and military interventionism is necessary in order to promote global stability. We are $35T in the hole. What is the hit to global stability going to be when the US can't make its payments on its debt, the US default, and the dollar collapses? Anyone who works in healthcare or associated fields knows you can't do any good for someone else unless you take care of yourself first. You have to be strong enough to have something to give. Right now, we aren't.
