Stone McKnuckle - Tech Lab (original)

- Aaaaand that marks the end of the year! Didn't make it for Christmas and only had today left to finish this song, so I'm glad I managed to pull through. There are a couple of transitions and a few niggles here and there that I'm sure nobody's going to notice but me, but I was too worried I wouldn't have time to finish this before the end of the year if I kept messing with it.
Song written over 10 years ago for a game me and my friends worked on that we never finished. Always liked it and thought it was a shame to just have it sit around, so I dusted off the ancient project file and began rewriting it. I always underestimate how long it takes to "update" old songs, really wish it were just as simple as redoing the mix and switching libraries but nope. Kept the old Sytrus synths for nostalgia tho!
Anyway, here's a belated merry christmas and an early happy new year to y'all! Won't be able to keep the pace up or I'll die from overwork within a year, but I should have a day, maybe two every week that I can at least partially dedicate to composing from now on so updates should get more frequent.

This one original composition alone could serve as proof that Stone McKnuckle KNOWS how to compose retro music and retro music remixes. Absolute 13/10 perfection.
This is, no joke, one of my new favorite songs right now. I didnt expect an original song to feel so iconic and nostalgic.
All of your work is more than stellar of course, but I feel like you could put this song in any major side-scroller or shmup from the 90's and it would instantly be one of the top tracks on the OST.
It's obvious that you really know what made those classic game OST's so good!
You could put it over the bio-lab in thunder force 4 since its a maze-like boss gauntlet
Has anyone told you that your originals scream shmup/air combat vibes? Either way I look forward to every one of these originals and this is just as wonderful as I expected. Keep up the wonderful work and happy holidays!
So relatable. A big fan of aero fighters, I actually tried to get into game dev just to start a small project with this spirit.
Dunno if anyone gives a shit but if you're stoned like me atm you can watch all the latest movies and series on instaflixxer. I've been watching with my gf these days xD
@Jaden Jaxson Yea, I have been using Instaflixxer for months myself :)
Don't mind the 2 bots above :/

Doing the same right now as a Thunder Force fanatic. I just need to find the right impulse responses for the electric guitar
I was born in the early eighties and I had begun to spent quite a bit of my free time in the arcades by the time I was a teenager - this music brought me back to those wonderful times I spent playing games like Metal Slug, Raiden series, Donpachi series, and many - many - more of their kind. Thank you for creating wonderful music like this for us to enjoy.
lol loser, grow up already old man
Energetic and inspiring as always. :P
Also, love the harmonic section in the beginning; gives it a very unique and full sound. The song itself sounds like it belongs in a really dope Megaman level, which is always awesome, lol.
Keep up the great work, my dude, and I hope you had a very merry and rockin' Christmas!
Damn, you totally nail the Capcom vibe even when you make a total original. If you told me this was a lost track from a Mega Man or Street Fighter, I wouldn't doubt it for a second.
2:21-3:13 Chills. I got literal chills listening to this part. Not to say this whole song isn't amazing, but that was just utterly insane and I loved it. Great work!
Ayyyeah I'm into this! Shouldn't play this in my car though, that's gonna be a guarrenteed speeding ticket!
ps. You just found yourself another Patreon pledger.
Your work is awesome. I'm starting to make music with programs too, and now i recognize how Hard it is to push decent songs out of it. Just seeing you doing such an amazing thing all alone gives me some hope of getting better and makes me happy to see you putting so many effort into something you like. Sorry if My english don't sound that good, that might be some errors since it is not my native language.
Can't believe I'm JUST finding this. This is my kinda JAM!!
This and Machine King might be my favorites, dude! I've been listening to these almost every time I'm at the gym lmao
Oh! Also I wanted to ask, would I be able to use this and possibly Machine King as background music in a video or two of mine? Of course I'll link both videos!
'Course you can!
Thanks so much! Hope we're seeing some new stuff soon!
I may listened to this many times but, HECK YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH
You're just awesome Stone. Somehow I like it even more that you're moonlighting at producing awesomeness, in cracks of time here and there. Keep it at whatever pace you like, just don't stop!
Good stuff! Merry Christmas, Stone McKnuckle!
Sounds like an air battle between two highly weaponized-full armored mechs.
(Thinks of Gundam Series)
This sounds awesooome It's a shame you and your friends game didn't work out cuz it would've had some amazing music!
I am meltiiiinggggg.... this is so sublime and polished and refined. 10 years of brewing has certainly done good to it. Aaaaahh my salivary glands are spasming aaaarrghgh 2:30 and onwards... is... the groove is over 9000!
Thanks for unearthing this gem for us, it just sounds awesome !
Just me or does this sound like it belongs in one of the old SNES Megaman X games?
Another awesome remix from Stone McKnuckle! And as this was uploaded 2 days before my birthday, I'll consider this to be an excellent birthday present. Thank you!
Happy birthday then ;>
Santa Mcknuckle back at it again with them awesome tracks. Thank you very much for bringing awesomeness to my life.
UA-cam recommendations are working! Epic track, will definitely have to check out more of your stuff. This makes me think of an old shmup called M.U.S.H.A. on Sega Genesis. Or Ikaruga. Definitely has that scrolling shooter energy!
Thanks! There are two MUSHA remixes on my channel btw. ;>
sorry but human language didn't contain enough epic words to describe this song... thank u for sharing
Coming back after almost a year with three great tracks 😭😭 thank you Stone, and happy holidays. We missed you!
Thank you m8! Happy new year and hoping you’ll continue putting out more epics, on behalf of all the fan base who waited a year! Hail to you champion 🤘🔥
Incredible! Still listen to it frequently almost one year later! It deserves to be used in some capacity at some point!!!
It's impressive enough what you do with covers of existing songs. It's even more impressive to hear such a fine sound coming from an original work ^-^
Best gift I've received this year. Thanks McKnuckle, you're music inspires me. Happy holidays!
As another commenter has stated this totally sounds right out of a mid-90s shump. I can see this being an awesome bgm for my fighter going up against an armada of alien ships. Keep rocking stone, love the originals even more than your remixes.
This sounds so cool ! Sounds something that would fit well into a colourful mecha or robot/ sci-if game ! I love how you never rely on a certain set in instruments and in other songs you use acoustic an orchestral aspects as well, which is seriously amazing, because most game music composers tend to stay in their niche when making their songs or rather try to create an atmosphere than a kickass, memorable song. Also, I don’t want to be annoying, but I really enjoyed your touhou pc-98 remixes and I would enjoy seeing more of them..(like innocent devil aka Gengetsu Raep time) Nonetheless, no matter what you wanna do,keep up the good work man!
WOOOOO!!! played this on my loud speaker at work, made some beautiful ecos in the glass rooms
A Remix of the real end credits of Resident Evil 2 clasic is what i wait for you bro, you are an amazing composer
This is my favourite of all your originals
Just for giggles, I played this over Dr. Wily stage 2 in Mega Man 11, and it works pretty well. If that entire soundtrack had been at least this good, it could've been the best soundtrack in the entire franchise. Absolutely solid work.
This is amazing. Love everything you make dude!
Sounds like it belongs in a game like Virtual On or Gungriffon. 90's early 2000's era. me like
Another hot, hard rockin' track! I love your original work!
Thanks for the sweet gift StoneMcKnuckle, Merry Xmas
I really love your work, the sensations generated by listening to your music will always be the best, I wish you the best and most successful for this next year c:
This kicks SO much ass!!! Great work!!!!!!
And that's going straight to my playlist in my car.......I am definitely gonna get a ticket for this.
ffuuuu que buenos temas, llegué a tu canal y los mire todos, ojalá y sigas así
Its Beautiful, Merry Christmas Stone McKnuckle!
This is fooking awesome. I wish I could find some amped up music like this for my RPG lol!
thanks again brother! keep killing it
This is so good it's ridiculous
You're an inspiration man, keep doing what you do
Im glad I discovered this channel.
Good grief this is amazing
Thankyou Stone McKnuckle, very cool
....This is triggering my Guitar Hero PTSD...I love it
You are amazing Mr McKnuckle
I remember when this was one of your earlier songs on Sound Cloud lol.
Oh, I'd actually released this at some point? Look at me lying all over the place.
@@StoneMcKnuckle Yeah, I remember this being on your Sound Cloud at some point before you removed it, I also remember Still In the Dark being on your Sound Cloud as well before you removed it too. If I remember correctly, you had initially created Tech Lab as a stage theme intended for some indie game called Four Angry Dudes or something like that, I remember hearing that song as well on Sound Cloud.
@@unclesheogorath1960 Four Angry Dudes and Fistful of Lasers. Your memory's insane.
@@StoneMcKnuckle I was pretty sure that was the name lol. But yeah, I actually liked your older songs too, I've been listening to your stuff for about 5 or 6 years now. To me, you're on par with SSH, and better in some regards in my opinion.
I'm still kind of curious how you'd handle the Steel Empire from the Genesis / Mega Drive. One of my favorite side scrolling shooters back when I was a kid in 1991.
@@unclesheogorath1960 I might do something from that eventually, though that game never really left a strong impression on me. I remember that asshole gauntlet pretty clearly though heh
Surprised he hasn't done A SINGLE Castlevania track. Nobody can tell me Stone WOULDN'T do a Castlevania track the justice it deserves.
I have secretly done a couple of Castlevania tracks but haven't posted them because I didn't do the tracks the justice they deserved.
It'll happen eventually.
@@StoneMcKnuckle WHAAAAAAAT? You should upload then anyway! I bet they're still bangers!
Now I really want to play a game with your music
This one's a banger!
Missed you dude!
This fucking rules. What VST are those brass at 0:26? I've been looking for something like that for a while
STONE MÄCKDADDY GOD OF REMIX!
Love it! Somehow it reminds me of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
hahaha what the hell?! XD
@@StoneMcKnuckle I actually mean the band
@@Metalltool Yeah, I realized that after having already replied. I think it's because of the saw :p
@@StoneMcKnuckle yeah I guess. Surprised you know them.
You sure you’re not the new Falcom Sound Team? You should be. Damn. This track alone absolutely wrecks the last few Trails and Ys soundtracks...
Yeah, they ain't what they used to be, huh? But I'm no replacement either.
Check out Granblue Fantasy Versus OST for your contemporary Falcom JDK fix. That shit is fire.
Thanks, will definitely check it out. Haven’t given it any time yet.
Sounds like a final battle between two friends with high tech power and one of them betray the other And this is the last fight
Hell yeah!
love it
Getting some badass F-Zero vibes
yo this song is so sick, wtf?
Maximum humm yeah!!!
E P I C
This would be something I would use in place of boss battle music in Undertale.
will you ever bring your music to spotify?
Yes. When the stars align.
I can see this being used in a Doom mod... Would you give permission to use it? (look up Back to Saturn OST)
Yep. Credit's all I ask for.
Got yourself a sub and a bell
Is it cool if I play your remixes (while gaming) on Twitch/UA-cam? been a long time fan of your stuff. (I might've asked this before and forgot.)
Yep, it's cool.
@@StoneMcKnuckle Awesome thanks dude!
Eargasm
Someone need to chart this for clone hero, this song is sick
Nice job stone, could u make a remix of gear fortress from megaman 11
Maybe after I've played it.
Can You Make a cover of streets of desolation of Batman Nes?
Yeah, I'm planning on it.
@@StoneMcKnuckle Wow thanks for that im a huge fan of your work.
For some reason...this reminds me of TMNT IV Starbase stage :o
Decent!
MITO
Lots of Over-G and Ace Combat vibes.
What Guitar vst do you use?
Prominy V-Metal.
I love this. But I don't love the guitar vst... it's got such a weird sound to it. The amp effects are great but the guitar tones itself... so weird.
What music program is this?
synthesia
Stone McKnuckle thanks, and incredible track by the way
Well shit, Merry christmas I guess
Kinda wanna hear this in a mega man x style
