The number of great places to go to college in the US is almost ridiculous. I graduated from Yale College but I also attended 5 other US colleges in my time as an educational addict. People seem obsessed with going to a small number of the most selective colleges but there is no significant difference in the quality of education across the several dozen best colleges, in my opinion. Duke or Washington University etc are every bit as good. And after those several dozen the drop off is small for the next several dozen. Our obsession with the most elite of the elite is misguided. The US has a crazy number of great colleges.

I would just like to add the super elite institutions differ in the competitive vibe that permeates through campus way more than the actual quantity of education.
