      You do not need to state any reason for what you are doing. It is not the job of any LAW ENFORCEMENT officer to confront and interrogate or give directives to anyone who is obeying the law. Badges do not grant extra rights, they impose extra responsibilities and ignorance of the law is no excuse for violating the law; special if your job is LAW ENFORCEMENT.

      @@oldtimefarmboy9330 That's a nice thought, but the reality is that a First Amendment auditor lost their case (I forget if it was a criminal or civil one) because the judge said it was ambiguous whether he was there to engage in First Amendment activity. That's why it's important to specifically state it.
      It's not right, but you need to protect yourself when you're doing this stuff.

      Between these alternatives there is no middle ground. The constitution is either a superior, paramount law, unchangeable by ordinary means, or it is on a level with ordinary legislative acts, and, like other acts, is alterable when the legislature shall please to alter it.
      If the former part of the alternative be true, then a legislative act contrary to the constitution is not law: if the latter part be true, then written constitutions are absurd attempts, on the part of the people, to limit a power in its own nature illimitable.

      The sad part is that as citizens we have to know the key words to use in order not to get our rights trampled on. A simple "officer If you are not arresting me right now, you don't need my ID right now" (in most states), instead they will argue and argue trying to intimidate people into giving their rights.

    And this is prime example on why Freeman is by far my most favorite auditor of ALL of them. SGV, News now houston, High desert community watch furry potato or any of the others out there. James is to the point and doesn't take their crap. Bao is ok but when he gets to cussing he is like a pitbull. Nothing wrong with his style but I absolutely LOVED it when Freeman asked that one cop if he would like to go and get him a Dr. Pepper. That was the cream of the crop for me. I busted and fell out with that audit. Keep up the excellent work that you do. I LOVE IT!!!!

If someone was walking around and filming your place of work or your house, or whatever. you would be suspicious too. Better safe than sorry, I would say. The police officers did nothing wrong here. Nor did James to be completely honest. I’m not arguing that any of them did anything to “break the law”. All I’m saying is the police officers had every right to be there and so did James. Officers are sworn to protect and serve, I see no harm in responding to a call of a “suspicious” person.

      Apparently the 4th amendment because in many states a 911 call alone constitutes reasonable suspicion, meaning people can be detained, harassed, and ID'd on no more than hearsay

      A brief detainment. But unless your state has a specific law the says you must ID, you have no legal obligation to aid them in their investigation and that includes ID, unless, of course, they can articulate a specific crime they believe you’re involved in.

    Calling people stupid who are ignorant of the law and people’s rights is pretty counter productive to making a big difference in my opinion. I bet a lot of these guys would be receptive to change if you were to teach them respectfully instead of constantly degrading them.
    Maybe try it 10 times both ways and see which one is more effective.

      Thanks for stopping by and commenting. There's a LOT of depression going around this year, a lot more than usual. I wouldn't watch this either if I were you. The truth of what's going on around us is depressing. Go out in the woods, do some camping, be in nature. We really aren't going to change or fix the downward spiral of this world, but we can find peace individually, and getting out in nature is how I find mine. I really hope you start feeling better.
