Dylan's assembling all the then we fight poketubers for his ads. All we need now is Shady and Rich. Though I can't recall if Mat and Colpa were ever featured.
Heres some fun facts for Dylan. 1) Foul Play is affected by your mon being burned. It simply gives you the opponents attack stat and replaces your own. But then it's damage done is halfed by burn 2) Body Press is also affected by burn. This is a common misconception about how burn works. Burn does NOT reduce your attack. What it does is reduce damage from physical moves. While Body Press uses defense instead of attack stat it is STILL affected by burn, because it is still a physical move. 3) The sleep status from rest is not the same as regular sleep. It will ALWAYS sleep for 2 turns. It is not random like regular sleep status. So dylan hoping that it would not wake up was pointless since it ALWAYS wakes up that turn.
I knew about the burn effect, but never realized Rest was always 2 turns (not something that I use, tbf) I love how pokémon have those interactions that you need to dig deep to truly understand :3
sorry about the gardevoir! it was a post render saving error with photoshop that i didn’t catch. here’s the correction: hp: 78 attack: 65 defense: 78 sp. atk: 255 (maxed) sp. def: 115 speed: 100 fairy, fire choice scarf moon blast flamethrower thunderbolt air slash ability: trace
This mightve been the most well planned battle Ive seen. Like Luke just had such an incredible strategy goin for him. And Dylan did some incredible defensive plays that helped em prolong it
Tho he might’ve actually won if he read luke keeping in the dubwool fusion and going for flamethrower would’ve prevented the third layer of spike and might’ve saved him
Burn affects body press damage too even tho it uses your defense stat! So that on top of max def and fluffy on golisowool (dubpod?) means the body press from abomaperior(rhysnow?) did absolutely nothing even tho it’s also max def
49:06 Burn does affect the damage of Body Press. The way burn works, as of Gen 3 anyway, is that it halves the _damage dealt_ by physical moves. So even if a physical move uses something other than your own Attack stat for calculating the damage (like Body Press using your own Defense, or Foul Play using your opponent's Attack), the damage you do will still be halved.
I love how dylan was tweaking over how luke always woke up from rest after 2 turns, except rest always works for only 2 turns, its in the description of the move lol
Fluffy doesn't increase your defense, it just reduces the damage you take from CONTACT moves (Emphasis on contact and not Physical Moves) So Fluffy wouldn't affect Body Press
Fluffy does decrease the damage enemy body press does, since it makes contact, but doesn't affect your own body press damage, but the reason isn't what you think. Body press *doesn't* get affected by FUR COAT either, which in actuality doubles your defense in combat. And the reason here is that in the calculation Body Press only uses Base Defense *and* stage modifiers instead of the Base Attack and stage modifiers. This means that if you had a pokemon with HUGE POWER using a Body Press, it would double the pokemon's defense for Body Press calculation. With the distinction above it also should be very obvious why Burn affects body press damage.
Burn effects both Foul Play and Body Press damage. Status and abilities effect both those moves 'normally'. This means Huge Power Body Press deals double damage when compared to non-HP, burn, Muscle Band etc. The stat and stat stages matter but otherwise it is coded as a physical damage move.
41:43 foul play uses the opponent's atk stat, which is halved by burn. Your foul play user doesn't have guts, so it's using half of the burned target's atk stat. ❤
This video was weird because some the stats definetly caused something to happen. Like the talomongus and the joltking. But he was willing to honor the dead even if some might have still been alive.
dude......rest is 2 turns of sleep. literally always except for the extremely niche scenario that you sleep then switch then switch back it will reset to 2 more turns. this has been how rest has functioned wince red and green in the OG japanese release.
Probably too late to correct it, but the Gardevoir and Charizard Fusion at 10:53 has an information issue. The stat block carried over from Joltking, the Jolteon/Nidoking fusion. You describe it the way that it operated in the battle, but we're shown Joltking's moves, item, name, stats, and ability.
I’m convinced they do it on purpose to get comments cause it’s every video. Or they just really don’t notice which wouldn’t surprise me considering how all of them can’t count when doing the battleship thing lol
Apparently, the reason Foul Play did so little on the RayRay is that it uses the user's status and ability rather than the target's, so Goggles being burned halved the attack's power despite RayRay's Guts. Also... did Dylan forget that Rest is always the same sleep duration?
The important thing to keep in mind about burn is that it halves physical move power now, instead of the attack stat. That's why the body press and foul play were doing so little
I think you should do a blind fusion with shadypenguin. And I don't mean blind fusion like you guys have been doing. Randomized starters in sword and shield, blindly choose 2 of them, and fuse them as best as you can. The possibilities could be awful or incredible. All left to chance.
The reason that body press and foul play were affected by burn is because at some point burn was changed to not change the attack stat, but to actually half the base power of moves for the user. That means that body press is effectively a 40 bp move using the defense stat, and foul play is halved using the opponents attack ❤
In terms of the bug with Taloongus, if Luke ran max HP it should have been able to tank the hit 252+ Atk Choice Band Huge Power Mamorill Waterfall vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Taloongus: 570-672 (79.8 - 94.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
No. Fur coat doesn't affect Body Press. Huge Power does though. Body Press only asks for Base Defense and Stat changes instead of Attack and its stages, otherwise it uses all the same damage multipliers.
Burn does affect the damage body press , burn doesnt lower your attack it cuts the power of your physical attacks in half , since body press is a physical attack its joever
Why does everyone think Burn doesn't affect Body Press? Burn halves the amount of physical damage you deal; it does NOT half your attack stat. It still would have Body Press damage since it deals physical damage(also halves Foul Play damage if the user is burned; not the target).
It's very well spread that burn half your attack stat, so everyone and their mother think that bodypress/foulplay using the opponent stats go around that. You would have to confirm this with a more knowledgeable person than me, but Bulbapedia specify that from Gen3 onwards "Instead of modifying the Attack stat, a burn now technically halves the damage a burned Pokémon does with physical moves", which make it look like Gen 1 and 2 it half the ATK stat. So it may be the root of the confusion.
@@RealCutieMutieno. The real reason is that if you look at the damage calculation difference to after and before Gen3, the Burn status is applied directly after fetching the attack stat, due to how many fewer mechanics the games have. With Gen3 and the onset of bajillion new different modifiers like choice items and weather+moves and pokemon abilities, just adding everything after the old formula would create problems in the long run. So they moved the status affecting partition alongside weather and screens etc. to the next parentheses of the damage calculation so the burn will be a true halving of the move damage, after all other base modifiers have been calculated. Edit: Grammar
Burn halves the power of Physical moves, not the burned pokemon's attack stat. The reason why Luxquaza took less than expected from Foul Play and why Body Press is affected by burn.
If you guys didn’t know burn Dosnt affect your attack stat it cuts the base power of the physical move so your base 80 body press turns base 40 when burned
Burn does affect the power of physical moves, so being burnt halves the power of body press and foul play - which is why those did so little at different points.

I'm surprised that Charevoir didn't have any STAB moves.
