This is absolutely incredible! I've played percussion, not guitar, but I still picture myself going "oh, crap," if I were to miss one and then fumbling my way through the rest of it a beat or so behind until it went off the rails. Props to you for being able to stay so in-sync and so collected throughout this. That takes an unbelievable amount of skill!
I won't lie, I lost count trying to follow this. Have a sub. Hope to see more great stuff and even a few more challenges like this. Always fun to try and follow
@@Nitsu_ I am not, I followed along until the triplets came in. Plus I play for my own enjoyment rather than progression, it was hard finding an instrument I just enjoyed playing but electric guitar fit the bill
@@spectruum then you are thinking about this correctly. Fuck progression, play what you like. If it sounds good to you and doesn't harm you, then do whatever!
Now I wanna program this as a tool. Randomly switching the rhythms as you play, parameterize things like BPM, options for various tuplets, broken tuplets, maybe *nested* tuplets?
Is it common sense to only use downstrokes when playing triplets and go with alternate picking just for the quater notes? I am a self-taught and genuinely interested. I find myself using alternate picking sometimes even for the half notes, it seems to depend alot on the music genre and the feel of the song. Also, while analysing my intuitive strumming pattern when playing a shuffle song in 3/4, 6/8 or even 12/8, I find myself switching between a constantly alternating down/up movement in the right hand and an down up down - down up down pattern. Is there a right or wrong?
For me it's pure downstrokes. But it depends on how comfortable you are with how you play. As long as you nail the triplet it doesn't matter if it's alternate picking
no you can use downstrokes or alternate picking, doesn't make much difference in sound, at least in this bpm, I think. I tried both and it sounded almost similar.
Alternate picking them is a lot more efficient. I use a combination of alternate picking and downstrokes depending on the riff, because pure alternate picking can lead to you playing the same line inverted (up dow up becoming down up down). Sometimes ending an alternate picking rhythm phrase with 2 downstrokes can make sure that the picking is always consistent. Other than that, pure down picking can sometimes have a slightly different sound when palm muting, depending on your setup. When it really matters is when palm muting chords. Once you palm mute multiple strings at once, up or down picking changes the order the notes are played (even though it all happens fast) and therefore changes the sound.
As someone who played piano this looks like the nightmare of sight reading- also it sounded like continuously waiting for a beat drop! Great job that was amazing!
Wow this is a good challenge which I have to try. Do you maybe have the sheets as a PDF-link? If they are in the video, excuse me; I'm blind and can read sheets only with using a screenreader + braille display but they can't capture video graphics. Although I could try to remember the whole sequence by ear. Thank you for the great video. P.S. I love the guitar's sound.

I think you hit every possible metal bass line.
Considering 4 cards, with 5 options per card (number of sounds: 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4), there would be 5^4 = 625 possible cases
I hate this comment.
*shitty metal bassline
But not all metal plays on 4
