Bhai 0:49 here MgO is a compound not a molecule because MgO contains two elements that is magnesium and oxygen.
And according to rule if two or more elements together form a single substance than it is known as compound
but
if two or more atom of single element together form a substance than it is known as molecule.

It is not necessary that Magnesium will react with water only to form its respective hydroxide. It depends on the condition of water.when steam reacts with magnesium ,magnesium hydroxide is formed and when magnesium reacts with hot water ,magnesium oxide will be formed along with hydrogen.
