If you search UA-cam for magazine journal you can find tons of ideas! It’s definitely not my original idea but I just thought I would share how I like to do it. It is something fun and different😊
I made my first one in 2017 too. I just found mine and started to add more pages to it. I have some old flips on my channel. I'm going to make another one soon.

Awesome, I didn’t even know that this type of magazine existed, like scrapbook magazines with tear out pages, until last year, and never thought of making a journal out of it. You see others using up scraps making junk journals and sewing it together... but I don’t have that kind of time, this is a great way to make use of something that would usually go in the recycling, but, you also get to keep interesting articles if you want without another ripped out sheet of recipe or whatever to find a home for. And paint, scrapbooking, collage... play on a full size spread without paying a premium for a sketchbook. What a fun idea 💡
It is so fun! And if there is a magazine you love it’s a perfect way to keep it and enjoy the images/words/articles. It’s really crucial that it’s a piece you like a lot of things in or it just becomes painting over every single thing and that gets old and kind of pointless, so you know what I mean😉

Great idea Helen!! Like I said make sure you choose a magazine where you like a lot of the images or words or it just becomes painting over every page and that’s not super fun😉

Yes, you could always have two journals going at once! One that could accommodate bigger spreads but isn’t dated! That’s a great idea!🙌

Thank you for sharing! I never even thought about using the actual magazine to create the full size junk journal. I’ve always just cut out what was cool, then put it in a bin to wait🙄. I’m filling bins of junk journal stuff but never using it 😑! Now I hope I remember 😆! Take care and have fun 💗🤗!
Kimberly Howard have fun with it! It’s best if it’s a magazine that you like a lot of the images or articles or you end up just painting over everything and that might get boring.
I really like this idea, especially because I refuse to trash my Daphne Diary magazines once I use images from them. Tfs, Kay

This video was so lovely! Do you still do magazine journals? I think I have to try this, it looks so me. I love to cut out pictures every magazine and use them in my Hobo a6. But its so small. Now I know what to do: magazine journal! Thanks for idea! Your videos are my savers in my life, little own time and inspirations for my journals an plannings.
I made one this past summer and then I sent it to a friend! I haven’t worked in one in a while because I have been doing my journaling in my Hobonichi. They are so fun though and such a great way to fully enjoy a magazine that you just want to swoon over😉❤️

That's a great idea! I don't think those mags are on sale here in the UK but I will have a look! I use magazine pics for collage. Especially model pics and then alter them with paint but I think I could utilise the whole magazine and do it that way instead! Thanks for the inspiration hunni! 😘
You can subscribe to Flow, I think it’s a quarterly subscription. It’s kind of a pricey magazine. If you have a specialty magazine store I’m sure they would have it. It’s a European magazine I believe!

What an amazing way to recycle magazines that spark something inside you, but you don't really know how or what to do with it. Thanks! I have so many Flows that are pretty and would be perfect for this project. Also, more room to write! x Marieke
I know I had the same problem, I loved so many of the images and didn’t want to get rid of them. Now I have them worked in with my journaling! So great!

I have done something similar but used magazine and folded pages in half and glued in place then trimmed to make it more the size of a travelers notebook, I am using it to work on October prompts by Pinkoddbird that she spoke of in her last vudeo. I have also used a flow magazine I found in flea market as you have just collating on top of pages , this is fun in front of tv with my box of scraps. Just playing around is therapeutic isn't it.

I haven’t Jennifer, unless it was some kind of weird mistake or it ripped. But that would be an option!😊
Also meant to mention the folded journal I saw on crafty hodges I don't think she does videos anymore but the old ones still up.

I like to use Breath or Flow Magazines because they usually have a lot of images, papers and words that I like! Thanks for watching!☺️

What are some UA-cam channels that inspire your journaling?
That’s a great question Jamie! I actually don’t watch too many journaling or art channels. The channel that got me started journaling was Ali Brown in 2016. The person that showed me magazine journals was Dede Willingham in 2017. I watch many more planner channels actually😉
