      My advice to you is don't! Learn what is is to work for someone else, learn what it entails to run a business, customer relations, financial statements, tax laws, competition, supply and demand, geographical advantage and disadvantage etc... don't start a business if you don't know what the hell you doing! It's like writing university exams without even going to school. You'll fail fast and fail hard

    I don't know about the hotel business in Egypt so I can't comment on that. Starting any business correctly, including a cafe, and building it into a valuable asset is always a good idea. I know people who started with a cafe and have grown their business into 4 successful restaurants and a successful resort. It's taken a number of years and a lot of smart work, but it happened. Good luck with whatever you decide.

    "To obtain financial freedom, one must be either a business owner, an investor, or both, generating passive income, particularly on a monthly basis." - Robert Kiyosaki. I wasnt financial free until my 40’s and I’m still in my 40’s, bought my second house already,got a new business my wife is managing, earn on a monthly through passive income and got 4 out of 5 goals, just hope it encourages someone that it doesn’t matter if you don’t have any of them right now, you can start TODAY regardless your age INVEST and change your future! I understand the fact that tomorrow isn't promised to anyone, but investing today is a hard thing to do for me now because I have no idea of how and where to invest in.I would be happy if you could advise me based on how you went about yours, as I am ready to go the passive income path.?

    • @Lawrencekingsley01

      uunderstanding the intricacies of investing is crucial. That's why it's important to have a reliable support system, such as a financial consultant, who can guide you, especially when it comes to selecting assets. Personally, I work with Regina Louise Collaro, an investment advisor who collaborates with a licensed wealth management firm. I must say that my financial journey has been exceptional under her guidance. Regina is widely recognized for her excellent services, so you may already be familiar with her. Thanks to her expertise, I have achieved financial stability and now earn a consistent monthly income through her passive income strategy.

    Hey Brian! I am about to acquire an engineering degree and the thought of owning my own business has always appealed to me. Problem is I have zero business knowledge so what do you recommend my first step should be after I get a business idea? Where should I go to learn the basics?

    • @brian_silverthorn
      @brian_silverthorn  8 років тому +3

      The self-serving answer is to become a member of my website once I finish the redo this week. Other than that, there are plenty of books that discuss the basics - choosing the right business for you, determining the potential of the market, determining how you'll approach the market, figuring out how you'll fund your business until it becomes profitable, choosing the right people to help, deciding on the most beneficial structure, etc.
      That being said, the real key is implementing your decisions & strategies effectively. This all sounds pretty daunting. And, given that the failure rate of new businesses in about 95% in the first three to five years, there are a lot of well intended people who don't make it.
      The best thing you can do is find someone with experience & knowledge that you're comfortable with and have confidence in to go to for feedback & advice when you need it.
      I wish you the best.

    Thank you for sharing this Mr BrianSilverthorn. We do agree that employee's always the number one. Now there's something I'll like to know from your perspective: Do you think that it is better to be paying our employee a monthly fixed salary or to give them incentives/commission by percentage in driving them to work for a common goal?

    • @brian_silverthorn
      @brian_silverthorn  8 років тому

      +Verse Monct It depends on the type of business and the position an employee occupies. The challenge is to find an objective, track-able result to tie the incentive/commission to.
      It's relatively easy for sales people. Commissions can be based on dollar volume or units sold, for example.
      The best way to get high performance and high productivity from employees is to be very thorough and very careful in the hiring process.

    Brian stated that he believes the keys to starting and growing a successful business are fundamentally broken down into Efficient Operations, Increasing Profits, Growth, and Quick Response To The Market. In my opinion, I think that he’s pointing out the fact that you must engineer systems for your business before you start it. Not to take away from what Brian is teaching you, but another business expert that you should check out is Robert Kiyosaki and his Rich Dad series because he goes into extreme detail about business systems. You could combine Robert’s teachings with that of Brian.

    In the first few years, when I'm just struggling to get by (I'm still working a full-time job), do I need a CPA, and if not, what do I need to do /how do I keep up best with expense receipts etc. ?

    • @brian_silverthorn
      @brian_silverthorn  8 років тому

      +Patricia Justice If you're struggling, there's no need for the added expense of a CPA right now. Keep your check register up to date and detailed. Make notes on your expense receipts and put them in a file. ASAP after the end of the year go through your check register and your expense receipts file, categorize the information, and then decide if you need help with your taxes. As your business income and the complexities of your business increase you can evaluate the need for a CPA. All the best.

      Become the best you can do at your job. Ask for opportunities to do other development related jobs and become the best you can be at those jobs. Once you've learned, gained experience and proven yourself look for development projects your confident you can complete successfully and put together a pitch deck for investors. Then start spreading the word. I wish you the best of luck.

      The clothing business, like most retail businesses, is tough. Before starting your own business I suggest you do one of the two options.
      1. Get a job, paid or as an intern, at a clothing store, learn, do a great job, let your employer know you want to open your own store at some point and ask for their advice.
      2. Visit clothing stores in areas that won't be in competition with your store when it opens. Prepare some great questions, let the owners or managers of the stores you visit that you're planning on opening your own store and ask about their biggest challenges and about the most important things to do to make a store a success.
      And, watch all the videos on this channel that pertain to sales, communication and business operations. I wish you great success.

      Find a way to provide products and/or services doing something you enjoy and can do well that people will pay for. Ask business owners who have a business that would interest you how they got started. Most are willing to help you, but you won't know until you ask.

      @chasedart382 8 років тому

      yeah that's the real issue, especially when at first you don't make much money. it feels like all your money goes to others.

    • @brian_silverthorn
      @brian_silverthorn  8 років тому

      rjravaz When starting a business it's best to keep an eye on the books personally. Pay attention to the money coming in and the money going out. Be sure to put some away for taxes.
      Check with your local Chamber of Commerce and other sources for basic courses in business bookkeeping. Learning how to pay attention to cash flow is very important to every business owner. It helps you plan for the future and it also helps you protect your business.
      The more you learn now the better your decisions will be when deciding if you need a bookkeeper, a payroll service, a CPA or anything else financial in nature and who you should trust to perform those duties.
      I wish you the best, whatever you decide.
