    Agreed, the visuals and sounds make the class appealing but I cannot give up my first love, the sorc. So regardless if its gonna be OP or not the next patches, for me the sorc is always gonna be S tier. One does not simply PvP without streak :D

      Hah that's true for me as well! I enjoy this class right now, but sooner or later I'll be back on sorcerer.

    I honestly thought I was going to hate Arcanist in PvP, but I just couldn't see past the meme beam! It's now my second favorite behind Nightblade, which I have 7+ years of experience on... so hard to knock him out of 1st!

    Running deadly/eternal/balorg with sugar skulls and am finding the beam build a lot of fun! Intend on switching to wretched/vampire over eternal/human when I get the jewelry I need.

    One thing, what the heck on the deep fissure tooltip? My Warden has a deep fissure tooltip of like, 7k/12k haha. What are you doing to hit that crazy high number??

    This is great. Whenever you get back to sorc though. There are 2 builds I’m trying to get to work on them. AOE magSorc that brings off healing and negates for BG’s. And a stamsorc that can heal itself a little better. I’ve tried pets. Going to try rally with critsurge and vigor. I might try shields not sure. Just need something extra… didn’t jump on Mara since I knew it was going to be nerfed.

      Robes of the hist, and dragons appetite seem to be the placeholder after the Mara’s nerf. Look up Meaxy, he’s got a stamsorc build up using both those sets I believe. Probably pale order as well.

      Good tips on the reply here, I would just like to add daedric trickery as a set option since it's the replacement I use for maras balm on the max health magsorc build that I have. Perhaps appetite is better for stamsorc (provided you run master DW), but I haven't tested that.

    I was pvping on launch day with the arcanist. It was like beams all over the place and they hit hard. Im going deadly no matter what.
    The deal with beams is to be very good moving it where the person is. I have the hang of it.

    • @MalcolM.
      @MalcolM.  Рік тому +4

      Yeah the aiming is quite important, most people that I see using beam don't turn their camera enough so it's completely missing the target :D

    I'm new to pvp. The first and third builds here (also and I'm talking about the written guide on the site) caught my attention. The first one is pretty easy to do for me, but I'm afraid it's weak compared to others (I already have deadly, trainee, balorgh and rallying cry sets). I see that the majority of players are building similar to the third melee build, with masters weapons. although I like beaming, should I give up on the first and try to make the third one? If I choose to stay with the first build, how much strength will I lose?

    Have you tried Force of Nature Blue CP Slottable on this since it runs so many status effects? I'm Also curious to know what your Max stat pools look like with DDF at full stacks and one last thing, i'm curious if you've tried ravager? It builds up stacks when ppl attack you and your armor buff applies minor breach

    • @MalcolM.
      @MalcolM.  Рік тому +1

      Good tip about force of nature! I used it in the past on status effect builds but forgot it here, it's indeed a good bonus to your damage as the melee proc build has a lot of status effects. Depends on the status effect uptimes as well.
      To know what the stats with ddf active are, you can look at the gameplay clips that play at the same time as the build presentation or just add about 2k to the unbuffed stat screen. In reality it'll be a little more still because I don't have the undaunted passive leveled yet in this video. I have used ravager on stamsorc in the past (with caltrops), but even though it'll proc nicely on arcanist I wouldn't recommend it on the proc builds since it's better to increase the damage from all the status effects (with for example dragon's appetite) or add an additional proc set (way of fire, relequen). On the classic build I also wouldn't use ravager, even though the bonus is more useful there as you rely on class skills for damage it has to be double barred which is suboptimal if you're not using ability altering weapon.

    Wanted to ask - what your main resource pull actually affects? Not just for arcanist but for every class in PvP.
    For example what's the difference between 22k stam and 25k stam on a stam spec? Yes you can use more stam abilities until your stamina will die. Anything else?
    I just remember back in the day your damage depended on it kinda. Maybe it's still the case in PvE not really sure. And what about PvP?

    • @MalcolM.
      @MalcolM.  Рік тому +5

      A good question! Most of the time it indeed doesn't matter at all how much of your main resource pool you have, it's cost reduction and regen that matters. It gives some damage, but not as much as wpn/spell dmg so the latter is priority. The reason that I do like that little extra mag from ddf on arcanist is because it's skills are so expensive that I don't even have the time to pressure an enemy for a long time or cast several expensive heals in a row when under heavy pressure before running out of mag. It's not a super important thing (after all you can play around with this by just not spamming anything much and finding a good balance between using magicka and stamina skills), but it's a nice extra that ddf allows you to get in that one extra heal spam before you have to do other things in order to let your mag regenerate. I would not run ddf if it didn't give max stam and especially max health as well.

    I'm not sure what people are having trouble with in pvp on arcanist. I'm leveling one in bgs right now and it is amazing, I believe it may be my new favorite. Maybe one I hit 50 and don't have to low level buffs it won't be as good but it's better than any of the other lo lvls I've played imo

    Not having curative line skill on your bar makes you lose 10% shield strength (last passive from curative line) You know that ? Or you just sacrafice it ?

    I have a question. Why does he use 2 axe and not 2 mace or 1/1? In this build the crit chance isn't much anyway, the axes' crit damage boost doesn't seem to do much. Wouldn't it make sense to gain more piercing with the mace instead? Can someone please explain?

    • @MalcolM.
      @MalcolM.  Рік тому +2

      Axes or maces both work. I use axes because arcanist lacks burst so if you get a fat dawn breaker crit or some crit fate carver ticks it helps for that.

    With eso’s netcode the beam is virtually impossible to hit in pvp even post server update. Completely unusable skill. You’ll have your beam directly on the enemy but the server actually registers them as 5 feet away so you just “miss”.

    • @ethanward3912
      @ethanward3912 Рік тому +1

      Support is definitely true. Yes you can make a dps one, but with so much effort when other classes can do it so much easier with less effort. It's like why work so hard to have sub par numbers when a half ass class can already out do it ya know? It's the unfortunate truth

  • @bryanbowen4193

    I'm not fully leveled yet but I'm having zero sustain issues. I'm lvl 30 argonian with 2220 cp. Try adding on the red tree the mag and Stam return when you kill someone.

    • @MalcolM.
      @MalcolM.  Рік тому +4

      It's best to wait until you're max level and in pvp before judging the class' performance.
      Thanks for the advice but I have built in a lot of sustain boosts that help fix this problem at lvl 50, and unfortunately the cp passive you suggest is useless in pvp.

    • @bryanbowen4193
      @bryanbowen4193 Рік тому

      @MalcolM. maybe it's psychological but things aren't always what they seem on paper in this game especially in PVP. So many hidden variables.

    • @ognevkafenella9741
      @ognevkafenella9741 Рік тому +1

      Malcolm doesn’t build on paper, he tested the class in the environment and found sustain to be difficult. it’s also consistent with its performance in pve where it too struggles with sustain. Underleveled characters cannot be used to judge stats because of Battle Scaling.

    • @bryanbowen4193
      @bryanbowen4193 Рік тому

      @ognevkafenella9741 I apologize for the way I wrote that. I know that Malcolm does real testing. I'm a huge fan of all of his videos. What I was implying was that scaling and even CP allocation don't always make sense when you look at the numbers. I'm sure it could possibly be his playstyle contributing since they want you to use the beam. Plus sustain return for arcanist is heavily affected by crux which is tied to morphs

  • @luchi850
    @luchi850 Рік тому +2

    But this is a slightly niche review for Arcanist PVP and it's potential.
    Because we all know the majority of Arcanists are gonna be Small scale, Ball group and Zerg Tank/Healer supports.
    The real question is how do those builds play out? You're a 1% player making a build about a class you're soloing in Cyro. As a fellow PC EU player, you know full well this is not where the cheese will come from.
    Immortal Arcanist Tanks etc running in groups will be the issue.

    • @MalcolM.
      @MalcolM.  Рік тому +7

      Well first there is a larger amount of the player base interested in solo builds that also work in loose group play (running around by yourself or in a zerg, or more unorganized with a group of friends, or in random bgs). Also, generally for pvp more people are interested in "DD" builds than tank or healer builds. That's exactly the focus of this video, as is for most guides on my channel, so I'd say it's the least obscure niche it can be.
      But as you hinted at I too heard talking about tanks and healer builds (though it's better as support dd than pure healer) in organized raids and such. While I don't intend on making a build specifically for organized groups, as that is always something to discuss with your group, I did already think about making an easy tank build for those who like that in pvp. Something like the Cyrodiil Angler on my website.
      Also nobody runs a "immortal tank" in organized groups, it's either DD, support or healer. Tanks are generally useless in pvp, you can just ignore them, and I only make a build for that for the fun of it.

  • @Patton243
    @Patton243 Рік тому +1

    The class is mediocre? You see some of the class passives they have specifically the status effect one? Not to mention the stun they have is totally busted. This class will get nerfed next patch after sales.

    • @MalcolM.
      @MalcolM.  Рік тому +1

      Yeah I imagine they were hard to kill for sure, after all both classes work really well with high health. Plus it's not difficult to get 40k health (especially with warden minor toughness), so you can build the rest in damage.
