    Bangkok is amazing! But I definitely wouldn't drive there. I took uber for the first 2 days and wasted so much time being stuck in traffic that I finally decided to take the metro/ skytrain. Metro in Bangkok is well thought out and very easy to follow. Can really help save a lot of time and make the Bangkok experience more enjoyable.

    If you live in LA, NYC, London and think you have bad traffic, try going for a cab ride in Bangkok. During business hours, you will literally get to any destination faster by walking, although that really isn't pleasant in Bangkok due to the humidity and air pollution. Internal combustion motorbikes in Thailand should be taxed like cars, or even higher. Use that to subsidize electric scooters. It would do wonders for air quality.

    As a Japanese car owner, I love how Japanese automobiles are literally dominating the roads and are trusted by the locals in an SEA country known for harsh climate.

      I'm a Thai driving a Mercedes Benz and a Honda. I would say that it rides good but I have to spend much more money (like 50 times more) and time on maintenance alone. Japanese cars are less advanced but do the job much better.

      Most other brands are too expensive. That's really all it comes down to.

    • @gackt13
      @gackt13 4 роки тому +2

      The locals buy Japanese because they are much cheaper compared to European brands as they are manufactured or assembled here. Unless you are stupid enough like me who bought a BRZ with a 300% import tax as they are not made in Thailand because I love them. This means no import tax. The rich or well to do locals buy European/Amercian luxury cars with an import tax of 300%. You will never see them drive Japanese, unless they are rare classics like the R34s or RX7.

    • @Kei.W
      @Kei.W 9 місяців тому

      @@youarehere0not entirely true, it is also because its very reliable and last for a long time with minimal servicing. If Japanese vehicles weren’t reliable, people wont buy them even if they are cheap, maintenance is expensive and time consuming. European cars are not only expensive but require much more care and maintenance for them to perform that way years later down the road.

Overall developing countries have that problem, we don't have a great, smart leader with a vision like him, these leaders can see only 5-10years ahead, while Singapore's maybe 1 century, even more 😆

    Watching from Australia. Bangkok according to this video: no large busses, no trucks, no cargo vans, no jeepneys. Do these only operating night time? Thought I saw Nissan, Hyundi, Kia & Honda sedans, as well as the universal Toyota.
    Saw one lady in a mini skirt, sitting lady-like with both knees on the left side of the motorcycle (scooter?). Very dangerous when lane-splitting is so common. Rarely saw motorcycle drivers without crash helmet - illegal? All the vehicles had lights (brake, turning indicators) working, but rarely used their turning indicators.

    • @fabrepupz
      @fabrepupz 5 років тому +1

      We have a limited time access to the inner Bangkok for large truck. Pickup truck (your ute) are the most popular type of vehicle, so cargo vans is not necessary. Jeepney are available on smaller street and other city, which mass transit is limited. Both driver and passenger of motorcycle must be wearing helmet. In Bangkok's downtown, police strictly check for helmet, but not outside the city. Most accident here come from motorcycle ( definitely without helmet)

      เมื่อคนไทยมีวินัย รู้หน้าที่ และ กระหายในการพัฒนาตนเอง
      ถ้าสังคมเลิกใช้คำว่า ไม่เป็นไร ได้เมื่อไหร่ เมื่อนั้นแหละ เจริญ
      มีระเบียบ ไม่หย่อนยาน ประเทศจะก้าวไปข้างหน้า ไม่ติดกับวนไปวนมากับเรื่องเดิมๆ
      เพราะถ้ารู้ว่า ไม่ได้ก็คือไม่ได้
      กฏเป็นกฏ
      ทุกคนหยุดฉลาดแกมโกง แต่ไปฉลาดในเรื่องสร้างสรรค์ ลดขั้นตอนแบบถูกกฏหมาย ไม่ใช่ลัดกฏหมาย
      ก็จะคิดแก้ไขปัญหาของตนเองได้โดยไม่แหกกฏ และก้าวไปข้างหน้า พร้อมๆกัน
      ทั้งหมดที่พูดไป ฝัน
      ลองใคร ซักคนพูดว่า แค่นี้เอง ไม่เป็นไรหรอก ก็ใจอ่อน ยอมหยวนๆ คนเคร่งบังคับกฏ ถูกด่าว่าใจดำ แค่ตำรวจออกใบสั่งไม่ใส่หมวกกันน๊อก ก็มองว่าเรื่องเล็กน้อย ตำรวจขยันจะเอาตังค์ แต่ไม่มองว่า แค่เรื่องเล็กน้อยถ้าเค้าไม่บังคับใช้กฏ เรื่องใหญ่จะพึ่งอะไรได้ และไม่ตำหนิตนเอง อ้างแต่ใครๆก็ทำกัน อ้างคนทำผิดเพื่อแก้ผิดตัวเอง
      แค่ขับรถบนฟุตบาต ก็เรื่องเล็กน้อย
      ขายของบนฟุตบาต ก็มองว่าเล็กน้อย
      ไม่ใส่หมวกกันน๊อก ก็เรื่องเล็กน้อย
      โถ วินัยเล็กๆน้อยๆ ยังบังคับตัวเองกันไม่ได้ จะหวังอะไรที่ใหญ่กว่านั้น

      While Dhaka infrastructure development is impressive, Bangkok doesn't just stay still.
      And because you're talking about transportation infrastructure, lets see what's going on in Bangkok.
      There are 5 metro lines currently in operation, both elevated and underground.
      There are 9 projects of new lines and extentions under construction right now with most of them more than 50% completed.
      There are 7 more metro projects waiting in line for final cabinet approval in the next few years.
      Summary of the length of metro lines in Bangkok,
      Currently in service: 111 km
      Under construction: 189 km
      Waiting for approval : 71 km
      And Bangkok is also building a new Grand Central Station, about the size of Suvarnabhumi international airport terminal. It will be the biggest railway/metro hub in Southeast Asia once completed. it is also a hub for 2 high speed railway lines which are in the designing process.
