Yeah. Sadly zero class. Explains a lot of asal’s behavior. Most of the top Egyptian players are very classy and fair though ( Farag, gawad, momen, hesham, etc).
I hope that the kids in the audience took notice of Asal's behaviour. In the final in front of his home crowd he kept up the sportsmanship to the highest level, and accepted his defeat. Well done Mr. Asal, you have grown in a way that many people probably didn't think was possible.
well when you play a 5 setter against Coll the night before and dont finish playing until 3am in the morning and didnt get to sleep until 7am after physio, shower, eating and resting as well as a drug test to boot. I highly doubt you could pull off a convincing game either
Felicitaciones Diego...el Perú está orgulloso de ti, te darán los laurales deportivos, tu nombre estará en el estadio nacional, y todas la generaciones te recordarán.
BEAUTIFUL to hear the silence of the Egytpian crowd as Asal hits the tin, even more GRATEFUL to hear Diego screaming vamos as he wins the tournament 🎉🎉
As an Egyptian, I cannot be any more happy for Diego. Well played, one of the most talented players. Tough crowd, but you made it through, Congratulations :D
Great play from Elias. Not only stepped up his gameplay, but also the physical "pain" he's willing to take to go for the win. Kept his head cool as well, so I think this tournament is a big marker in his career.👌 Congrats to Asal well, showing what he's capable of without the need of crossing lines. 👍 Hope they both can keep this level of play up! 💪
So happy Elias won. I actually give Asal a lot of credit, his demeanor on court is way better than it used to be. Still not a fan of him but he’s much more watchable most of the time. But that crowd… I’ve never been rooting so hard against a crowd.
A deserved (if strange) victory for Elias in front of a ridiculously partisan crowd. Kudos also to Asal for showing humility in defeat, which shows maturity. If his humility one day matches his strength and skillset, he'll be a world-champion for sure.
It's natural for fans to get caught up in the excitement of the moment and cheer on their home player with passion. Let's cut the Egyptian crowd some slack.
@@Mr.X20117 You from Egypt or something? There's no other reason to continually defend the crowds behavior on every single comment of every single video pointing out their poor sportsmanship. It's borderline xenophobic behavior and I'm glad Elias won.
Vamos Perú 🇵🇪 carajo. Eres grande Diego... bien merecido ser el nuevo campeón mundial!!! Merecías esos aplausos pero bueno, los que no escuchaste en el evento lo escucharás cuando vengas al país
Incredible performance from Diego. He studied all his opponents , the way they play, they way they think, as if he is telling them how to play and where to play. Very well deserved.
I was wrong. I thought that in front of an Egyptian crowd, defending the world championship, with a ref who was surely under tremendous pressure to deliver, Asal would revert to form when the match was on the line. But he didn't. That was the most rhythmic, free-flowing match I've ever seen between those two, with them gliding around and deliberately avoiding each other. It was exactly how you want this game to be played. I doubt he'll ever see this, but I misjudged you, Mostafa. You won this event more than you ever did before and we'll be lucky to have you on the tour for the next decade or more.
It's natural for fans to get caught up in the excitement of the moment and cheer on their home player with passion. Let's cut the Egyptian crowd some slack.
Wahoo! A World Champion from Peru! Very impressive movement style from Elias, combining his tall physique with approach accuracy, speed and perseverence. Asal will get his WC as well, no doubt; just a matter of time.
As an Egyptian that attended last season’s world tour finals between these two phenomenal players, i can tell you that the 99% of the crowd will cheer for their homeboy, That is understandable and loyal and all But the problem i faced while speaking with some of them is that they wouldnt even clap for Elias if he won, and that i believe we as egyptians should improve and be more like asal himself, better sportsmanship, better games, overall happier sport, and after all, we’re here to have fun
Amazing - equal congratulations to both Diego and Asal. Diego for finally realizing that sometimes you have to be prepared to "die" on the court and to Asal for evolving from a spoiled brat into a true squash statesman and ambassador along with Diego. The sincerity that he congratulated Diego with was totally real and genuine. I can't wait for their next matches.
Congrats to Elias on such an achievement! I feel he did have an advantage over Asal, simply because of the late running of the prior rounds matches. It would be extremely unlikely that Asal had an ideal preparation for this match. I was disappointed to see some of Asals bad behavior starting to reappear. To his credit though, he was genuinely congratulatory of Elias.
Amazing end to third game. Incredible get at 9-10, then the nick serve off the back wall. I wonder if he was going for that? I think almost certainly yes. I used to go for that, and could get it pretty close, sometimes nicking, as a mere club player.
Strange to see Asal break after a few really bad ref calls. He's usually a warrior. The impartial squash fans will be delighted to see Diego win the world champions playing fluid squash.
Well done Elias. Great rally construction (some might call it cumulative pressure) and effortless movement👌. I personally really love this style of squash. On a side note, am I the only one at 4.15 who isn't convinced by the slowmo that the ball bounced twice before Asal got his racquet to it ?
Egyptian crowds could learn from Asal and grow up a little ... i get upset that parents are not telling their kids how to act while watching a sport in a small atmosphere... brutal Amazing game though!!!
Last three points are the greatest Karma I've ever seen 😂 Though Asal seemed clean this tournament, well done! As of the audience, I am officially requesting not to host World Champs ine Egypt ever again. Pathetic behaviour of childish crowd
Interesting physique matchup here - both identical height at 6'2 and only a 4 lbs weight difference. It's not surprising there was so much contact, the game gets pretty bumpy the taller the players are.
Congrats to Diego but Asal looked like he wasnt really trying because he kept playing front court only for the first two rounds (based on what i see in the highlights only)

Diego only dropped 1 game in the whole tournament! And it was against Ali Farag 👏
No applause from the crowd when Elias wins 😮
Too bad, there is a lack of education and class.
a crowd full of children, literally

Congrats Elias!!!🎉
Asal just left his a-hole mode behind when he acknowledged the back wall nick double.
That was a classy act.
Orgullo del Perú!!
Congratulations, Elias. What a set of amazing performances. The best he's ever played, in my opinion.

Kudos to Asal for approaching Elias, shaking hands and appreciating him. True legend and great sportsmanship spirit 🙌🙌

9-10: insanely long rally, with collisions and dives
10 all: backwall nick ace
11-10: opponent hits tin

Great to see Elias get revenge on Asal. Although Asal has matured a lot since his early heated battles with Asal
Asal has done an impressive 180 IRO sportsmanship, big respect.
