A true classic example of British humour…. Puns, innuendos, and innocently rude seaside postcard humour! I’m 25 and a Norwegian who has lived in the U.K. since I was 3, so British humour is well ingrained in me and my Norwegian(mum) and Icelandic(dad). Found this brilliant comedy series purely by chance and have been enjoying them ever since. It’s sad but true that true comedic talent can’t be learned but exists naturally as the fantastically funny regular character actors who appear in TMftM regularly. So called comedians of my generation can’t hold a light to Deryk Guyler and his fellow actors who appeared in this series, sadly all dead now but thankfully still available to be enjoyed by new generations of true classic British radio comedies.
I’m 25 and gay. I laugh my head off at the gentle jibes at a group in British society that had only quite recently before these episodes were written had finally been told they weren’t criminals and should be sent to prison… The digs at the Foreign Office being staffed by “pansies” who use their restroom to apply makeup always makes me howl with laughter (the Royal Marines get a few gay innuendos thrown their way as well for some reason…).
