I was severely disappointed with CJ at the end, considering the fact he's a vet.
He should've used his initiative and had a teammate set a screen on his left and right.
It was obvious he wasn't going to hit a game winning shot/layup
They should have called a time out to set up a play fanboy because cj is not a true pure point guard .

Willie Green never constructed a play, otherwise CJ wouldn't have done what he did.
But Pelicans didn't 'lose' the game because of CJ's attempt to hit a game winner. It was the crazy sequence where Pelicans kept getting offensive rebounds and couldn't make any threes, that's where they lost the game

You don't need a coach's input to design a play for your team to win a playoff game.
If players can't use their own initiative like the scenario in this game, then they don't deserve to win a playoff series 🤷♂️

The Pelicans have showed how scary they can be. Even though they didn’t win, they displayed their strength, versatility, and resilience.
This is something for them to be proud of, to see the effort that they put in, but also something for them to learn from and apply to the next game. I’m excited to see how this series goes! 🔥

@@Ahilliard44 I don’t think anyone should be proud of losing, I’m saying that they should be proud of how they did what they could to win, but ultimately fell short. It’s tough to win on the road as an 8th seed against a loud OKC arena and this tough team, but they nearly did it.

If you watch the 3’s they were chucking up one after the other, the shot-clock didn’t reset, then it 10 seconds got added mid-play, then after the final shot the ref stop the game to reset the clock again. Pretty big technical issue.
That was the main issue, Thunder kept forcing 3 pointers. Hopefully lesson learned.
Damn the pels had this game in the bag. The pels played to the best of their ability in this game imo and this was the one too steal.
They shot horrendous their defense will always be good but don’t rely on the pelicans to shoot this poorly each game.
Ingram not taking last shot and only having 12 is crazy
The fact that he only had 12 was the reason he is not taking the last shot. CJ was a little hot down the stretch however I would have used BI as a decoy then pass to CJ so he wouldn't have to work so hard for it, however he got a good look so let's move on to game 2 make some adjustments and see what happens.

Okc coach was trying to use a loophole by challenging a jump ball. Either way, it will always be a successful challenge even if it doesn’t go in your favor. Hopefully, the league recognized that loophole and that’s why they didn’t give him the challenge and timeout back.

@dougbrown6952 a jump ball indicates that the ball went out of bounds and the ref couldn't determine who touched it last. When they do a video review they will always be able to determine who touched it last. This means that it will always be a successful challenge even if the ball doesn't go to them. Basically, it gives them a free time out, an automatic challenge win, and a coin toss on getting the ball
@@robertomaldonado2723 and sometimes it will be a jump ball. Also the NBA totally botched it. When they review fouls and they still call a foul but on a different player you get your challenge and time out back. You can't in the middle of the game say oh no, you can't do that on a jump ball, for whatever made-up reason you just made up that makes no sense at all, and say you lose your time out and challenge because of that. That could have been the difference in the game.
OKC doing what they did in the regular season many times. Creep up on it and win a close one. Another indicator they play like an experienced team.

I chuckled when, with 1.5 min left and the Pelicans went up 2 pts, the OKC fans was all quiet after their team gave up a 16 pts advantage. To me, the two teams were even but McCollum should have tried to go for a dunk with the possibility of an "and 1" in the last seconds.

Most stupid ending in an NBA game I've seen. 24 seconds to go...they waste 10 seconds to foul.
14 seconds to go 2 down...they dribble the clock out no movement and take a contested three rather than drive to score or attract free throws.

Defensive play was fine. Gave themselves a chance to steal and fouled when the ball was with a poor free throw shooter. Not like they had a heap of time outs to play a long foul game.
