  • It wasn’t the prettiest game but Nebraska took care of business in a mostly efficient manner in its 34-3 win over Northern Iowa on Saturday.
Michael Bruntz and Mike Schaefer broke down how things looked on both sides of the ball on Saturday. The two started on defense where Nebraska struggled to get off the field early, but ultimately only allowed a single field goal in the contest and was playing better in the second half before the backups came on to finish things out.
Offensively the Huskers were efficient and crisp - until it wasn’t. Do the guys have any concerns there?
What about special teams? Anything notable on Saturday?
The breezy near 30-minute podcast concluded with a look ahead to Nebraska’s Friday night matchup against Illinois.

There was some colorado hangover for sure. But when you look at it through the lense of a 5 win team making improvements and growing this season instead of expecting perfection every week, they did a lot of positive things. Will be interesting to see snap counts, and what % of the game backups were playing on defense, which i suspect was quite high. Missed butler not being there to set the edge on the right side.
Uni was well coached, played disciplined, and did what they could.

Their coach said Nebraska running back was our trouble . In second half when we settled for 2 field goals they played the running back man on man . Both times we stalled. It was good for Nebraska to make both field goals and every extra points

Their offense did not allow a sack they earned my respect.

Look Tony white will not be happy with the defense. But having said that they had a great offensive line and 2 running backs . Even the quarterback could run. Their receivers caught well. Their coach said we shot our own foot on offensive drives with holding penalties. We didn’t beat them in rushing yards until the last big run by ramer

This defense looked unprepared against a physical offense. They weren’t getting any pressure rushing 4 or less. Very concerning.!!!

It looked to me like Nebraska practiced all week for Illinois.....
    Satterfailed is a basket case!!!!
I see no "Championship" Offense EVER being played in Lincoln with Satterfaileds erratic play calling...
Watch our offense, then watch Texas, Tennessee, and or Missouri.

Don’t let the score fool you. That defense didn’t look like they wanted to tackle tonight. If this team wants to survive the Big 10, Tony White is going to have to make some adjustments.

Two years ago the defense gave up the most yards in the history of memorial stadium to Georgia Southern. Now the fans complain when a team scores 3 points.
