"Don't do ectasy because you'll dieeeeee!" but then when people try them and realize they didn't die and had great time they discard everything they were told and become unwary. They mention in the vlog that 50 people died from ecstasy in the previous year. A quick search on alcohol says that more than 7,000 died the last year. And, the 50 that died are probably OD from something other than e. So, yes, you're right. We need honest conversations so that people don't get complacent and die for no reason.

"Last year over 50 people died from overdose on ecstasy." Meanwhile: In 2016 there were 7,327 alcohol-specific deaths in the UK, an age-standardised rate of 11.7 deaths per 100,000 population.
Yes but that's not really comparable because the exposure rate of alcohol vs. mdma is very different. It's like when people say "you're more likely to get hit by a bus than die from a shark attack" - well no shit, how many buses vs. sharks do you interact with? You can only compare death rates between two substances when there's a similar level of exposure

@@nektarmangotrinksaft3695 but with a method like this, they cannot garrantee a consistent strength to their pills so may accidently make ones that are way too strong for someone
Legalize, regulate, test it and tax it. Harm reduced. People took drugs in the past and they will take drugs in the future. Legal or not. Best approach from the country is a harm reduction approach.
My only concern is that with legalization will come an entire drug entertainment industry, and addiction might become more common place as big pharma starts pumping out synthetic highs with consistent experiences.
Decriminalize it, legalizing it would increase the amount of people overdosing it. And also ban drug use in specific situation like while driving or at work. And also leave harmful addictive substances like meth, heroin and coke as it is today. It's very easy to get hooked on those. Imagine how much would the government make if people get fined when they're got on possession just like when they're speeding.
Eddy Burg a simple fine makes sense. It makes a hell of a lot more sense than spending resources jailing people. It would be amazing if the fine could be reduced or even waived if the person opts to go to a drug counselling program, the way that a speeding ticket or moving violation can be lowered by opting into driving school.
There you go... If drugs are illegal because it's harmful and dangerous than driving should be illegal If drugs are illegal because it's addictive than playing video games and pornography should be illegal

@@differentbutsimilar7893 YES! 100% Prohibition creates a trillion dollar, global unregulated market where its not about producing the best/cleanest product or best customer service or anything like that, no. This trillion dollar, global unregulated market is controlled by power, fear and who is the most willing to kill to get on top. End of story, thats what makes the whole industry, the whole unregulated industry, so fucking dangerous! Step 1. Decriminalize drugs - What that does is stops punishing the end user, the addict, JUST for being an addict. The only people this helps is the addicts. It also means you can move TONS of funds away from catching and punishing users and put that towards education and rehabilitation and HARM MINIMIZATION. Step 2. With all the money saved from conviction/punishment etc.. Introduce programs where in users get their "fix" legally BUT they have to meet particular conditions (this has been trialed to success in Europe) such as getting 1 "hit" of their drug in exchange for some counseling sessions or a subsidized work program (getting the addicts back into working, back into feeling like members of society again and not like outcasts) Step 3. Legalization - If you're not a drug user, this doesn't change your life in any way shape or form. Period. Anyway.. You make the drugs legal, this means "cartels" now have to go up against pharmaceuticals companies who can make/distribute the drugs cleaner, safer and cheaper than the cartels can. You place restrictions on the drugs similar to alcohol (can't drive on them, cant operate heavy machinery on them etc etc etc) Now what happens is you see an increase in tax revenue (from the stores selling the product + from the employees of those stores paying income tax etc etc) and can put that money into more education/rehabilitation/harm minimization programs and also put that money into healthcare or infrastructure programs, whatever, anything. Its a win/win. The only losers are the cartels, the for-profit prison systems (because intake will go DOWN drastically) and the police departments (who wont get as much funding as their wont be as much crime) The winner is society.
Not legalize! DECRIMINALIZE! Canada "legalized" weed and now our laws are fucked. Dispenseries are all out of stock, you buy your weed and it's molded or its not the amount you actually paid for. Example some people pay for 3.5 grams and actually end up only having 2.5 grams of weed in your container. Then when you get tired of the government's bullshit and go buy it off the street you can get really fucked by the new laws. Like let's say you were carrying an amount of weed you'd have only gotten a fine for before legalization, well now after legalization you can get up to like 5 years in jails for the exact same infraction. Basically our government has us in a corner and they are abusing their powers. You don't want legalization, you want decriminalization.
@@inolongerwanttolive3239 Decriminalizing does nothing in the terms of having it controlled? Everything would continue the exact same path the only difference is that you can't get jail time.
What makes ecstasy so dangerous? Illicit producing in labs with no hygienic rules, by people who have no clue what they are doing, no idea of basic chemistry knowledge and handling with substances they know nothing about and the lack of care for users, by only wanting to maximize profit and then the following saleson the street. How to reduce this danger? Very simple: legalize, tax and regulate
MDMA is extremely neurotoxic and does screw with the bodies ability to auto-regulate (which when combined with raves = deaths from hyperthermia). That being said, I think people should be able to do whatever they want as long as it doesn't hurt other people and these drug testing programs should also clearly be legalized.
The only reason MDMA should be legal is for medicinal purposes, such as PTSD treatment and relationship counselling. The reason is because it can take quite a toll on the physical body, especially the heart. I was a pretty fit individual, but after a lot of MDMA over a period of a few months, the heart began to hurt and beat abnormally. This is because the heart is not designed to beat that long and hard as it does on MDMA. Sometimes after taking MDMA, the heart was still racing by the next day. I've heard that it can also cause tissue scaring to the heart.
The effects of MDMA usually begin about an hour after taking the substance. It tends to peak quickly, within about an hour after the effects first start to appear. You’ll feel a greater sense of euphoria, pleasure, social bonding, connection with the people around you, and your perception of sights and sound will change. MDMA is not a hallucinogen in the traditional sense, but it can make lights and colors appear more vibrant.
Drug/pill testing should be readily available at all clubs, raves and festivals. People are gonna get on pills and gear and there’s nothing the law can do to stop it. Regulate and make it more safe.
"The Loop" is an absolutely fantastic company. Wow. Of course, people are always going to take drugs. Especially at festivals. It's such a good idea to create a company that makes sure they're safe for use.
I'm a big proponent of harm reduction. Always have been, and always will be. Having a realistic outlook about people taking recreational drugs, and analyzing their content, can save lives.
a friend of mine started up a non-profit local association to test drugs. he got the idea after a rave organizing association he was a part of suffered 3 od's in one event. they've since been given state funding and access to medical equipment to do just that so long as their members go in for voluntary medical training (to help victims of od's) and lab training to use the machines. now, they do the electro festival and rave party circuits in the south of france. you see the guys running that association, and they're a bunch of hippies and ravers, but all they want is for the consumer to be as safe as possible. hell, one time at a rave, i suspected some guy had roofied my drink. on a hunch, i went and asked them to test it. turned out that aside from cannabis ash, nothing had happened. kind of glad they were there that night, wish that there were more non-profits that did that.
We did the same for years in the netherlands. But as the political climate changed so did the legality of these tests. As a result drug related accidents and hospital visits increased again.
How to use ecstacy safely: test your product, stick to 80-120 mg, stay hydrated but don't drink too much, and wait AT LEAST 3-5 weeks between each use. Following these guidelines will prevent the comedown and long term damage

NAgreaterthanEU What tommy is saying is the reason these drugs are dangerous is because they aren't controlled and you don't know what the manufacturer has put in it/cut it with. If there was a controlled manufacturing and selling process the harm would be significantly decreased.
Oceane Bourgault These substances in their clean form are much less harmful than the research chemicals and cleaning supplies drug dealers cut them with to make a profit. Yes alcohol and tabbaco are regulated and cause much harm but for a different reason.
Tyler Okay so ecstasy is going to be dangerous no matter what, it's just the danger of overdose can be minimised if you know exactly what is in it. Many people take a dose of what would typically be fine but because it contains some dangerous chemical other than mdma they overdose. If regulation is a long stretch then there should at least be free lab testing so you know what you have.
I think the biggest problem with MDMA is prohibition. Removed from drug abuse, its one of the most healing compounds I’ve ever experienced. Im also an addict and have no issue leaving MDMA sit for year and years. I think being illegal just encourages irresponsible doses and binges
e is a social drug, most people would view it as a waste if you do it by yourself. acid and shrooms can be even more beneficial by yourself, so theres that.
In my eyes not all drugs are bad. The dosage makes the poison not the drug. I think portugal made a great move with decriminalising all drugs and set everything on drug education and rehabilitation. You see that the results turned out much better than expected. Have a safe trip guys ;D
Drugs dont kill people people addicted to drugs kill people i think addiction has a lot to do with depression but in some cases maybe it has alot to do with just likeing to get high for some people their hobby is taking drugs they simply dont care the effects long as its good those cases are ones i dont think they can be changed
Well any dosage can lead to addiction and that's not good.. I believe it's frequency and dosage. You don't want to take something every day, but you also need to know what your taking
In Toronto we had T.R.I.P. They gave out straws/condoms and info packets on drugs. Walked around and gave water to those that needed, absolute godsend to have alongside the rave scene!

The pills also can have pieces flake off or even split in half. These pills counts can mean the difference of 5 - 20 years of prison time. If they chose a flaking one as their base weight of one pill, that could add 10 - 20% more pills in the weight count and could push the charge up another level. So I am all for them taking their time and doing a good job counting them.
Yeah it was a pretty bad setup. If they had everything laid out on a clean surface with plastic lining underneath, it would have been much more efficient and easy to save the powder. I am not promoting what they are doing in any way.
damn watching this 7 years later and seeing how much the entire scene changed it's unreal... 2016 was apparently wild in the UK, glad to see it took a turn for the better (less adulterants, more stable dosing, MUCH more harm reduction measures...) 0:47 - "[MDMA is] a controlled drug because it's deadly." Somebody should tell her that tobacco, alcohol, and tylenol are also deadly. Until then her co-worker will continue to believe, "we are all very intelligent here at Border Force."
So sad that people act so much like sheeps. People have no idea how things work and young users these days just take it. Several reasons why people die: Bad drugs from an unknown seller or not knowing what you need to do while being on drugs (drinking no water or drinking too much water et cetera).
Lane Eardink The substance itself is actually not deadly at all 😂 It is deadly when you use it wrong (drink no water, overheat, etc) or when you take a pill which contains another deadly substance. Actually if you'd think about it, making it legal would also make it less deadly, because people would get to know how to use it and also wouldnt take any deadly pills.
Lane Eardink Yes, but she did not say that tobacco or alcohol are deadly.... look at the people at the raves that take mdma! they all look like dissapointments, not to menyoin that mdma is an addictive drug. The only safe drugs are cannabis, and other tested psychadelics that can actually help you in your life or if you have problems, and are not addictive, and are best used in calm, spiritual ways.
Martin Piber mdma is a psychedelic, therefore its not addictive, and the reason these people look like that are because their lifestyles actively feature massive seratonin releases, probably a few times a month, and all evidence and research suggests that there is a high chance that mdma is neurotoxic. Everything in minority is safe, and look at greenies bro, they're constantly fried, cannabis isn't as abusable as you think. P.s there is just so much wrong with ur thinking i think its time to do ur own research instead of listening to other people
MDMA is not physically addictive -- meaning, a person who uses it on a regular basis will not suffer physical withdrawal like an alcoholic or a heroin addict gets sick when they stop using. However, like most drugs, it makes you feel really, really good, so it can be psychologically addictive, and as with most drugs, regular users can build up a tolerance to it. Ecstasy works by releasing ALL of the serotonin at once so it's a pretty powerful feeling even more so when it's taken with friends in festivals, dancing etc. meaning it's a pretty powerful psychotherapy
Give them a break, they were clearly just covering their asses in case something they might say could become a serious media gaff. They're basically using the Leslie Knope approach to the media: pretend (or believe) like you're someone they would care about.
More people die because of alcohol than any other drug. MDMA is only dangerous because it's illegal. Regulated, standardised pills made by professionals would be safe if taken responsible.
You're right it can fuck up thermo regulation and cause organ failure if you take to much. People take to much because they don't know the strength and purity of their pills. In regards to serotonin, after a high you do have a lack of serotonin for about 2 weeks. Although this is only noticeable for 2-3 days from experience. If MDMA is taken too regularly then It can cause chronic depression which is why I would never take it more than once a mounth maximum. What people need to remember is teenagers have been self medicating MD from drug dealers who mix it with all sorts of shit for over 30 years and the number of deaths are very small compared to the number of consumers. At the end of the day it's our body and if we want to risk it to feel one of the worlds greatest pleasures then we can, and do.

Ratty i agree with you 100%. But think how many people drink compared to ectasy. If as many people used ectasy as people drank the death toll would higher. You can almost certainly survive drinking to much but its not always the same with mdma.
Another thing that bugs me is the fact that the anti-drug people never talk about alcohol related deaths or even prescribed drugs. They want to focus on controlling the markets and the politicians do all the major drug deals behind closed doors!
Exactly, it's almost brainwashing. Alcohol etc is legal, drugs aren't, so from an early age we perceive drugs as bad, the rest good... u get the idea..
Very rare does alcohol cause a reaction within the body that causes death. With alcohol it is a case of human behaviors that cause the deaths such as drinking too much, dangerous behavior such as drink driving. Ecstasy on the other hand can cause reactions at a much higher levels than alcohol.
I tried ectasy yesterday for the first time and it was so damn good, I felt so amazing the entire night; obviously I WILL NOT take it again for a couple of months (I don't do weed or any other drug, and very little alcohol), but I will definitely try the experience again in May in a social environment

Some people are more susceptible to addiction in general (particularly if there's a family history of it) and their mental health and history of trauma can play a significant role in increasing their chances of becoming addicted after very few uses. But that's not everyone and governments have latched on to those cases to take it as far as to restrict pain medications for people who legitimately need them.

If drugs are illegal because it's harmful and dangerous than driving should be illegal
If drugs are illegal because it's addictive than playing video games and pornography should be illegal

Introduce programs where in users get their "fix" legally BUT they have to meet particular conditions (this has been trialed to success in Europe) such as getting 1 "hit" of their drug in exchange for some counseling sessions or a subsidized work program (getting the addicts back into working, back into feeling like members of society again and not like outcasts)
Step 3.
You can take alcohol and Tabaco products for your whole life with out dying. Additionally, its harder to overdose on them than MDMA.
*sigh* legalize, regulate, and stop worrying
@@inolongerwanttolive3239 how is it that its molded or not the right amount? i mean what the hell whos doing it?
Agreed. Legalise, decriminalised, tax, regulate and sit back and relax. People over complicate.
FUCKING PREACH!!
That and people taking pills with no clue of the contents in a hot, crowed night club.
So because you're an idiot no one should be able to use it responsibly right? Typical white person thinking.

Look up the loop they have pop up stalls in city centres happening soon with a crowdfunder they are doing
We did the same for years in the netherlands. But as the political climate changed so did the legality of these tests. As a result drug related accidents and hospital visits increased again.
In the States we have dancesafe.org. They do the same thing. Harm reduction through education and knowledge.

I just tried to look up ths acronym but I'm not finding anything related to the meaning from your comment. Could you tell me what it stands for and if the organization is still around in Toronto?

Great to see that Kevin and Perry are doing well and have become entrepreneurs in Brighton...
They count every pill instead of weighing all of them and dividing it by the weight of one pill. Yeah, they are really intelligent there lol
Pills made from illegal sources do not ever weigh the same .. only pills from government manufactures will weight identical
@@Jake_Hynds of course they won't weigh the same, but it won't be a signifficant difference. Maybe +/- 20mg at most if they're from the same batch.
Weight of a pill shouldnt matter, you weigh it if its in a powder form
They all weigh different cause of filler dumbass
The pills also can have pieces flake off or even split in half. These pills counts can mean the difference of 5 - 20 years of prison time. If they chose a flaking one as their base weight of one pill, that could add 10 - 20% more pills in the weight count and could push the charge up another level. So I am all for them taking their time and doing a good job counting them.
Its sounds like those ying and yangs are gails favorite

It hurt my feelings how much mdma the pill presser was spilling on the carpet and then he said they try not to spill any.
🤣👍
Yeah it was a pretty bad setup. If they had everything laid out on a clean surface with plastic lining underneath, it would have been much more efficient and easy to save the powder. I am not promoting what they are doing in any way.
But I said don't bother I'm guilty and my baselines fucking filthy
damn watching this 7 years later and seeing how much the entire scene changed it's unreal...
2016 was apparently wild in the UK, glad to see it took a turn for the better (less adulterants, more stable dosing, MUCH more harm reduction measures...) As someone that does x maybe three to four times a year I would've been scared shitless or killed myself if I was using in such an enviroment
This taught me mostly...
That I'm moving to the UK.
Should move to nl. If you buy 50-100 its about 0.80 euros a pill or less

0:47 - "[MDMA is] a controlled drug because it's deadly." Somebody should tell her that tobacco, alcohol, and tylenol are also deadly.
That drug testing booths at festivals is amazing ♥️

Ratty it's dangerous bc it fries your seritonin and causes permanent depression. Educate yourself homie
Truth Tuber yup
Exactly, it's almost brainwashing. Alcohol etc is legal, drugs aren't, so from an early age we perceive drugs as bad, the rest good... u get the idea..
I'm not saying drugs are good, the legal shit is bad, just judge for yourself before believing anything
Very rare does alcohol cause a reaction within the body that causes death. With alcohol it is a case of human behaviors that cause the deaths such as drinking too much, dangerous behavior such as drink driving.
Ecstasy on the other hand can cause reactions at a much higher levels than alcohol.
Truth Tuber ...that is not true. It's no where near that simple. It's laughable ... you've heard a few facts and your making a conspiracy out of it.
I tried ectasy yesterday for the first time and it was so damn good, I felt so amazing the entire night; obviously I WILL NOT take it again for a couple of months (I don't do weed or any other drug, and very little alcohol), but I will definitely try the experience again in May in a social environment
Yessss!!!! I’m so happy nothing like rolling for the first time 🥰
It's like all of the positive effects of alcohol cranked up to 11 with none of the downsides.
I think it should be used generally in psychotherapy.

Yeah, pills being mixed and pressed in a fucking teenager's filthy bedroom is all I needed to see to never try mdma. Talk to me when it's legal, produced in a sterile environment, with a consistent result. I was talking to a friend of a family who is a cop and his absolute ignorance to drugs really frustrated me. He said he thought everyone who took them should be lined up and shot. Felt like telling him that more than half the people he knows will have took drugs before 🤦♀️ he also was an avid believer that u got addicted the first time u did heroin, to that I said if that was true then I’d be addicted to heroin because I was given fentanyl loads after a serious operation 😂 he said no but it’s the high u get that makes u addicted, I was like nah I loved that stuff when they injected it into me but still didn’t start tryna score on the streets after.
