Thank you for sharing this project! Had much further to go, but it pulled over concrete and lawn so easily. Pulled with my lawn tractor, couple hundred feet in less than 5 minutes. Never a wobble and no sore back!
Hey Buddy Your kidding?? Thats amazing. It surprised me how well it worked. We went over concrete, gravel, bark and lawn. It didnt seem to matter. If we could patent it, we'd make a fortune!😄 Thanks for watching and commenting. Now go enjoy the spa!!
Moved a very large 6 person hot tub today using your sled.. We moved it 50 plus yards over grass and a stone patio with ease (2.5 people) Thank you so much for posting this it was a lifesaver..
Thank you so much for this! What a creative way to move large objects. Mine was a hot-tub and I used your "plans" to build mine similarly with the exception of using a piece of carpet instead of the cardboard because I had a 3x8' piece laying around. I'm so glad I googled moving a hot tub and found you. I asked for quotes from 3 different moving services and none got back to me, but the average price would've been around $600-800. This project cost me about $50 (and it could've been less had I used hardware/rope I had on hand, but I decided to buy new instead just in case.) Thank you!!
Thank you so much for sharing your story. Like you, I figured there had to be a less expensive way to move a hot tub. Not sure why I thought of the coroplast, but it works really well. How far did you have to move yours?
Thank you for sharing your story. Im so glad it worked for you! I recently loaned my sled to a friend to move their tub. They thought their tub would be too heavy for it. They could not believe how well it worked!! I really like how simple and inexpensive it is.
Thank you for sharing this, It worked amazing today moving my new spa into the back yard from my driveway, i was out less than 50 bucks total to make the sled, i was quoted 500 from a spa professional to move it from my driveway to the back patio.
You sir, are a life saver and a marriage saver - my wife and I just moved a 600lb hot tub over a wide variety of terrain over 1/2 an acre, including surfaced tree roots, gravel, and asphalt and your design worked perfectly. This was my second hot tub move, and it was seamless! Used a riding lawn mower to pull it. Thanks for sharing!!!!
Some how I missed your comment from several months ago. What a great story! You are a true testament to how well this sled works. And at a fraction of the cost of a store bought one. Amazon sells them for between $500 - $600. Thanks for sharing!!
This is exactly what I was looking for! Had a couple guys move a hot tub with this method a few years ago, but I was never sure what material they used! This will be such a time saver for my new tub!
It really does work very well!! I have had so many positive comments from viewers that have used it. The 4x8 sheet is called coraplast ( plastic cardboard). Its available at Home Depot. I just checked the price, its gone up about $10, to $35 a sheet. Let me know how it goes!! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I saw the commercial sleds online selling for over $500 each. I just ordered all the parts to build this one for just under $90 bucks. Thanks for sharing your innovation!
Great time of year to order a tub. You will love it. And moving the tub was so easy using the sled. Let me know how it works for you. Thanks for watching and commenting. 😉
I was excited and built a slider….but found it was wholly inadequate to budge a 900 lb spa. This might be workable for smaller, lighter units. So maybe include the weight of the spa in the video so that other’s can prepare accordingly. What did work for me was using two 4ft lengths of 3” PVC pipe as rollers to move the spa across the grass, pushing until the rear roller was loose which shifted the spa weight forward, then pulling out the rear roller and moving it to the front (shifting the spa weight back) to allow for positioning that rear roller to the front and so on. Given the 900 lb weight, it took too big guys to guide and pull/push with another available to pull the rear roller to reposition it to the front position sequentially. With 3 of us on the job, there was no one there to run a video for documentation, but I hope this description is helpful.
Hey Phill, your plan sounds like it worked great for you. Would have loved to have seen a video. I have had other viewers say they were able to move tubs over 1000lbs. But they were using garden tractors. But the sled worked for them. Anything approaching 1000lbs is going to be a tough pull. But just like you, they find a way to do it. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thanks for posting! I just made one of these last night to get our tub out from under our deck for a patio to be installed. Our tub is 1,060lbs and it took 3 of us less than 5 minutes to move it. I was quoted $750 to move it each time. What a great device!
Over a 1000 lbs??? Thats crazy. Im really impressed that the sled worked. Congrats. And the amount of money you saved is incredible. Thanks for commenting and watching .
Hi Ernest, thats awesome! I was surprised how easy it pulled. Is your tub 8' x 8'? My daughters tub is a little on the small size, 7' x 7'. I was wondering how well it would work on a larger tub. The big question is what do we do with it now?🤣 Thanks so much for letting me know. Have a great day!
Hi Vincent. Let me know how it goes. Make sure you watch both videos. The 1st one just shows us pushing the tub into the back yard. The 2nd video shows how I built the sled! Thanks for watching and commenting. Good luck.
Australia!!!!! Good day to you sir! Im still amazed at all the locations I'm able to reach with my videos😉. I'm not even sure if I mention where we are at...the state of Oregon, USA. How far did you have to move your tub? Do you have a YT channel also? Thank you for watching and commenting. 😉👍
Hi Robert, it worked way better than I thought it would. My new go to hack item is doublesided carpet tape. This stuff is amazingly sticky. 2" wide.😄. Thanks for watching and commenting
Haha, my daughter says the same thing. If I could make, anyone can make it. And if you live anywhere near Portland Or, ill give you mine!! It was a fun little project, that worked way better than I could have imagined. Thanks for watching and commenting 😉
Hey Michael. I used a 4x8 sheet of coroplast. Bought it at home depot. Its about $35. It worked amazingly for me and a lot of other viewers. The cheapest and most effective way I could find to move a hot tub!!
Those are nice spas!!!. How long is the wait time? We waited 3 months and my daughter waited 8 months. Crazy. But well worth the wait. We just used ours today. 23° outside, spa water was 101°😉
@@retirementwithpete9859 About 3 to 4 months . Fortunately I dont have to worry about the hack dealer will place it in back yard exactly where I want it. I live in Hawaii and I should have purchased in October ... Shipping price increased 1250 from then to now...
@Retirement with Pete I got the hot tub moved last week. The sled worked great! We did have to go over some landscaping rock which ended up eating a couple of holes in the corply. There was a small crack in the skirting afterwards, but all things considered not too bad. Very happy with how it worked out!
Thats great news. Too bad about the skirting, but the main goal was to get it moved from point A to point B👍. Was it lighter than you thought? How many people did you have?
@@retirementwithpete9859 this particular hot tub is 1025 pounds dry and it still had some water in it. We had 4 people pushing and pulling and it still felt very heavy, but moving it on its side was the only option at the house we picked it up at, so it definitely served its purpose
Holy cow, thats a heavy tub. By far the heaviest one I've heard of using the sled. Thats very impressive!! Im really glad the sled worked, and hopefully nobody got hurt!!. That is an amazingly heavy tub!! Enjoy it!

I built the sled but then ended up not needing it as the hot tub company was late on delivery and then when it did come in they sent their people with one of the tub Dollie’s/trailer and they moved it and put it in place. Sorry but not any help here. Although I do feel it will work but you will need more than one person.
