The ''watching tik tok for 30 minutes instead of eating tacos, cutting out the fabric, or figure out if cutting that way would actually work'' moment just hit me way too hard 🥲
Tell me you cosplay Zelda and just forgot that she's princess of Hyrule...
That dress is FABULOUS.
I am a filthy casual 😂 I love Zelda but I can never remember specifics about games and movies, its terrible!
Came from seeing your reel on my fyp! You’re very talented!! The dress is absolutely stunning 😍😍!!
🤩 thank you so much!! I can’t wait to show you the next part! I’m really proud of how the cape turned out!
Since you can buy single packs of Swarovski here, it might be the store who decides to sell them in multiple packs, so a different store might still sell in singular packs.
Though I’m in Japan so it might also be related to country policy.
subbed due to chaotic energy
I'm only 5 minutes into this video and I love you so much. The way you narrate makes me feel like I'm in your sewing are with you while you sew!
ok but you saying that makes me so happy!!! I used to sew with my sister all the time, and now when I made videos I pretend like I'm sewing and talking to her so that when she watches the videos she doesn't feel so alone 😅 im glad that positive energy comes across!!
All the way through the video, all I think is: “Oh boy, she loves to take risks!!” I mean, the serging part made my heart race!
Ive subscribed officially right now
God bless! This is 🤌✨
try putting the laptop on top of a covered with towel or whatever absorbs liquid of an ice pack and it should keep it cool. I do it with my phone a lot. I really enjoyed your video. Thanks
I got a new laptop for my birthday!!!! but those are still great tips! thanks!
The best thing I have find is to use freezer paper and iron. Then To the pattern’s piece Strengthens to pieces and you can reuse then without breaking hope this helps
Gurl you need a viking like mine it drops the needle and lifts the presser foot on its own when you remove your foot from the peddle (if you select that mode) so you can pivot without having to lift the presser foot! Best investment I have ever made in my costuming business!!!!!!
you are absolutely right! I DO need a new sewing machine!!! 😂 bur fore real, thanks for the recommendation because I am always looking at different machines!
I love you too much 😘❤️
WOW this is Fabulous!!!👏👏👏😊
This dress is *chefs kiss* 😙🤌
Stop making me want to make cozy gowns when it's 30° heat in Aus haha
its a chilly -6 at my house right now and I wanted to take advantage of the cold! lol it gets hot here in the summer and I always find myself wanting to make winter styled clothes when its warm too!! 😂👍🏽👍🏽
@@AlexandriaLayne Bahaha my current WIP of a black velvet dress is perfect for a summer night on the town, right?
Sweat? Who is she? 😂
Amazing
thank you!!! I really enjoyed making this project! I can't wait to do another Elsa cosplay and go back to the ice castles!
If you have a commercial pattern you love, you can fuse lightweight interfacing to the back to make it more durable.
BOOST BOOST lol I found this out recently and it's a little known fact that's a complete effing lifesaver. My source went the whole hog though, she's a book binder first who took up sewing and book makers will make this thing called book cloth, it's basically where you glue (either with book paste or double sided light weight fusible interfacing like heat n bond) a thin layer of paper to a fabric you want to use to make a book cover, which gives the fabric all the rigidity and malleability of the paper and interfacing without changing the general appearance. She made fabric patterns from her paper patterns the same way - used an old bed sheet (i.e. very light weight cotton) and some heat n bond to create a virtually indestructible "bookcloth" pattern.
I got little crystals in packs like that just a few weeks ago. Try hobbylobby in the jewelry/bedazzle aisle.
4:10 “this TRAIN has left the station” we love a good pun 😂
Also, randomly found you on my homepage, and I love that your videos are so well-made! I’m excited to watch your older content too.
The reason you can't buy Swarovski Crystals like you used to anymore is because Swarovski decided to do a rebrand. They want to be known as high end so they're focusing on making jewelry and working with luxury brands. In fact, Swarovski is only allowing luxury brands to buy their products. It's really upsetting but they don't want to be associated with hobbyist anymore because they believe that it'll make their brand look cheap. It's quite ironic being that they're just glass; not even real gems.
If you still want to buy crystals similar to Swarovski crystals, there is a company that basically took the place Swarovski at craft stores when they decided to discontinue their DIY Crystals. It' called Crystals by Preciosa. The crystals are still made of glass and come in a variety of shapes and colors etc. They're also similar in price. I hope this helps!!!
I know it's too late lol, but when I need to use a commercial pattern, at least for smaller pieces, I tend to actually glue it to a sturdier paper before cutting it out fully. I roughly cut it out, then glue it, then cut it out properly, just to try and preserve the pattern
I am two minutes into the video, you tossed the cape fabric over your shoulder, and I went "Yep, this is PRECISELY the kind of chaos-imp I enjoy!" *subscribe!*
@@AlexandriaLayne oh believe me, I feel you there. My girlfriend and I spent all last week desperately cleaning every inch of our house because a friend of hers was coming to visit. Aaaaand it’s a mess again.
I really relate to the chaotic way you sew! Great job, this looks amazing!!
So glad I saw your reel! This turned out wonderfully and I love watching sewing videos 🥰 going to subscribe for your personality for sure 😃
😍😍😍 you saw my reel?! im so glad you came over to UA-cam to watch the video too!! I hope you stick around to see what comes next!
You have to kinda be a company for swarvoski crystals or know a nail tech. Also you can get dupes or no name crystals at micheals craft store. They sell them in the same amounts and colors. S crystal is just no longer doing the diy market.
Came from Instagram! You said "head to my UA-cam if you don't want to wait for daily updates" and I'm so thankful for that lol I hate waiting 🥺
Girl, this video is so good! I love this costume and how you show us the process. I can so relate to that waatching tiktoks for 30 minutes instead of cooking. 😂
time doesn't even exist while im on TikTok 😂 I feel like I watch 3 videos and the whole day has already gone by 😂
Zelda is Princess of Hyrule.😊
THANK YOU! I am the filthiest casual when it comes to video games and I could not for the life of me remember the kingdom name 😂👍🏽
i saw this on insta and i am so sad it scrolled away before i could save it needless to say I AM HYPED THIS HSOWED UP ON MY HOMEPAGE
Came from the quilted petticoat video on tiktok, I love your channel!!
Hi Instagram sent me! 😁 Loving your process it feels very familiar 🥰
Hi, figure skater here to share dress crystal tips! Swarovski stopped selling their crystals to the general public because they want their name to go back to being used for “high end” and “designer” projects. You can get ones that sparkle just as well off Amazon for a lot less, I believe they’re called jolin. If you’re lucky you may be able to find a local seller who sells crystals made with “Swarovski elements” or “European” crystals which are usually Swarovski but they can’t say it on their website. Each of these options will sparkle just as much as the originals!
Also if you want some glue for Crystals that is more durable, on figure skating dresses we use E6000. Once it dries if you used enough glue they wont go ANYWHERE.
Best of luck 👍🏻
THANK YOU 🙌🏽 finally an explanation! I’ll have to look into that other kind of crystals!
Alexandria: “Put these Zodiac Killer symbols together then tape it”
Me: *had no clue about that and doesn’t remember if my pattern for a Minnie Mouse dress had the symbols*
Also me: *sweats profusely*
I was listening to a true crime podcast while sewing one time and they were talking about the zodiac killer and I noticed the sewing marks are literally the same symbols that the zodiac killer signed his letter with! 😂
@@AlexandriaLayne lmao. Love true crime videos.
I was referring to the fact that I didn’t know you had to line them up and tape the patterns together, so I’m hoping my patterns don’t have them for my Minnie dress! If they did, hopefully it’s an easy fix besides cutting out more fabric 😩
12:59 would it have been possible to use the freeform quilting foot for sewing around all the lace? 18:30 oh wait 😂
lol I feel this comment 😂 its funny how our brains work, and I guess sometimes don't work 😂
There wasn’t holographic fabric that could’ve been used for the snowflakes on the dress? That’s kind of what I imagine would’ve been used if the dress was reimagined and recreated.
There defiantly are a ton of other options for creating the snowflake effect on the dress! I already had the glitter glue and I wanted to keep this project as low budget as possible by using materials that I found in my craft stuff 👍🏽
I think you're the only person I've ever heard call a yardstick a "measuring stick" which is actually more accurate.... But no one says that.
lol I do say yard stick, but this particular stick thing is longer than a yard, its like 48 inches 😂 I got it at Home Depot for FREE! its the best tool for cutting out longer gowns because I can visualize the length with it!
@@AlexandriaLayne 48"....whoa nice! Free...even better. Gonna check out Home Depot...thanks for the tip.
Swarovski apparently wanted to raise they're image, so they only sell to designers and such. Because apparently selling through craft stores was tarnishing their reputation.
If you brush the fur before sewing seams you don’t have to pick it out
🤩 its so simple, and yet, so effective, I'm about to implement that practice into all my fur sewing! Like, its so obvious but I've never thought to do it! Thank you!!
Could the Zelda dress also work for a Princess Serenity dress?🤔
yes!! im literally planning her white flowy dress soon and im using the same pattern!
Your hem, I feel your pain. I am making a crinoline/petticoat that has a 27 yard wide gathered hem that I am adding ribbon to. I keep putting it off
@@AlexandriaLayne I attacked half of the 27 yards today. I sewed half of it and attached the ribbon hem. 9 more panels to sew together and put ribbon on
What's amazing to me is that how the fuck you are so hard working. You are so passionate about creating it is mind blowing.
Swarovski, has made a major push to exclusivity and has been pulling stines from"unworthy" stores. I work at a Hallmark and they pulled our sellers license and that really screwing our sales over.
Would have just hemmed while pinning it the first time. A two inch hem on a dress really does wonders for the drape of a train. Also makes it easier to catch while stitching through layers. Otherwise you did share great tips for viewers and i commend you for it.
Documenting my projects as they happen ✌🏽 they aren't perfect but I'm doing my best 😁
May I ask how much did it cost you in total to make this dress?
This is a rough estimate, and I always have to buy more supplies because I am really tall but here is a quick breakdown:
All blue fabric: $86
White fur: $10
Glitter Glue: $25
Wig: $40
Silver lace aplique: $90
Crystals: $30
Corset: $20
Total: $301
Here's a great video about paper patterns from Costuming Drama ua-cam.com/video/Pp-Cw9xIZK0/v-deo.html
Using fur from hobby lobby....... noooooooooooooo
For good fur, I HIGHLY recommend you go for HowlFabric or BigZ fabrics
The fur is fuller, softer, easier to work with, has no clumps and sheds very little.
I'm a fursuit maker, I know what I'm saying XD
Thanks for the tip!! I’ll be sure to check them out! Lol I already had this fire in my stash and it worked alright for my purposes!
Came here from the insta reel to see the finishing result and not so regretted it the dress looks so wonderful
I can't wait to share more photos!! new video is up tomorrow that shows how I made the cape!
