I rode to junius before and saw no one only like 4 people
There once was an exit to Junius Street exit at the south end (New Lots bound). It was removed many years ago. The main exit is to Sackman Street.
I got off at this station when I lived in Van Dyke Housing... Those steps were a beast 🤣
I think this station is only the least used on the (3) train because more people will use the Canarsie Bound (L) train than the (3) to New Lots Avenue. Still an amazing video!
I've used the Canarsie-bound L to get to the Harlem-bound 3 train. I wouldn't doubt that other people go in the opposite direction. Considering the transfers between the New Lots Line and Canarsie Line, I'm surprised this is considered one of the least used stations.
Yeah! The BMT has the better connections than anything on the Westside iRT lines.
Yup and you're better off switching, between the L and 3 in Manhattan.
I thought it was because Pennsylvania Ave and Rockaway are the bigger stops
This station will probably get busier once that interchange opens. I think Van Siclen will become the least used then

2:45 there’s an in system transfer that was introduced during the L train project and the demand was high enough to make it permanent,but the Livonia Avenue L train station overhaul isn’t fully complete yet,the 3 train will slightly reduce congestion on the L train,so after the station renovation is complete the free transfer may become permanent.
I grew up in the van dyke houses all of my childhood , took this train daily . I also remember looking out the window from the 8th floor everytime i would hear the train coming down as a kid.
Great series so far! One minor correction, it's the LIRR Bay Ridge Branch below - it'd be amazing if the Subway went out far enough to connect to the Long Beach Branch!

Interconnectivity always lags behind in NYC subway, as you showed there is no MTA passageway to the L line
They are building a complex, connecting both of the stations they're also building elevators
The chief impediment to any proposed connection here is adding passengers to the Brooklyn IRT, which is at about 100% capacity.

They're building an elevator for the Livonia Avenue train station, and it looks like they might build an overpass to the 3 train one time.

So cool how it crosses the regular tracks then goes to the left. Something very unique im guessing! Also intresting how it uses R142s
Actually, the 3 doesn't use R142's. The R142's are used by the 2, 4, 5 when they run along the New Lots Line past this station. The 3 only uses R62's.

I rock with this series. Quick note: you forgot to mention the station was served by the 2 at all times before the MTA pulled the New Lots/Flatbush swap, sending the 3/4 to New Lots and the 2/5 to Flatbush.
I didn't forget to mention it, I just didn't think it was too necessary. At the time, I didn't think it was worth it including information about past service patterns at the station, I might try to mention such things more in the future, but I'm not completely sure.

They did a lot of these swaps back in the 1980s. The R and N lines Astoria/Continental.
Junis street was my stop for the 3 train.

This is one of the few areas missing a transfer between nearby stations. Others are:

Not to mention Jay Street-MetroTech/Borough Hall, which probably shouldn't be connected internally but should be a free out-of-station transfer. You can take the R train there, but it's faster to walk even if the R is right at the station because the transfers are so ridiculously long.

I have vague memories of taking the LL from school in Manhatten and changing to the New Lots line via a walkway so there must've been a passage in the 1960s.
Anything in Brooklyn, north of Eastern Parkway and east of the Flatbush Avenue extension is the dark side of the moon to me.

That's really strange. When I used the station back in 2006 the neighborhood was very established.
Can you do a video on the differences between R142s and R62s, and any other types of cars used by the MTA? I'm a non-NYC resident. Great vids!
It's not too difficult to distinguish the differences between the R62 and R142's, so I'm not too sure if it would be a popular video, but I can do some on the most similar cars, like the R62/A, R142/A, and R143/R160/R179.

theres a passage bridge that we all walk from junius street to catch the L on livonia ave platform station! that little passage bridge will be completly gone & destroy once they finish contructing a new elevator & passage to transfer from the L to the 3 with out paying another fare
Is that the bridge that goes over some tracks below it? I was on it a few times. I'd hate to see something that old, functional and destroyed.
Would you do a video on the third track turning off into the bay ridge branch and how that can possibly be put to use?

I completely agree I hate having to walk a block then walk those high ass stairs! They should extend the bridge at Livonia Av and connect it by the Junius stairs

I stopped there at 2am and needed up talking a Lyft . It was pretty bad area
