I think you need to put some oil or graphite or PTFE or Protek on that green chain tension idler on the right. It doesn't appear to be spinning hardly at all.
@@jimthesoundman8641 I have. I just don't even have it pushed up against the chain. All the tension on that chain is on the back side. By the time the chain rolls forward over the top, it's somewhat loose and sort of just cascades down onto the larger sprocket. When I've pushed that idler so that the chain turns it, it substantially slows down the speed and presents tension where there shouldn't be. I'm curious.... do you own a player piano?
@@SevenPlus65 I have a 1920 Cable Nelson with an early Simplex action that someone gave to me for free. It had been stored in a garage for 50 years, and I though "Hey, how hard could it be to restore it?" Foolishly, I thought it would be easy, little did I know that almost 90% of all the felt on the action had been eaten away by moths. So I'm replacing all of it bit by bit. Have barely started on the player action, I have everything below the keys working properly, and I have the roll motor working properly, but all the key pneumatics will probably have to be rebuilt, and that's a huge job. Wish me luck.
my school I just graduated from has a player piano in it and it has this same role in perfect condition!
it was so fun nerding out and working it
Amazing!
This stuff is fantastic! Deserves more views for sure!
@walterbirdwell3675 Well thank you very much! I too think it's beautiful sounding piece and I'm happy that you enjoyed it!

@@jimthesoundman8641 No way, what are the chances we would run into each other here? 😂
@@PiotrBarcz Great minds think alike.
