Now this is the Matt Granger I grew to love. Reviewing weird A.F. lenses. Ok my first lens was way back with the Nikkor 50mm f1.2 AIS but still... Love your lens reviews of strange lenses.

I wish they had this for Nikon Z. I’ve been looking for a good fish/super wide angle. The 14-30 is nice but I love the extreme angle of view the fish gives.
I have a Nikon 16mm f2.8 af fisheye. Its not an everyday lens for sure but everytime I use it it puts a smile on my face
That aperture combined with the fisheye fov is gonna make for some great skateboarding videos

Now I gotta see how this performs against the venerable Zeiss (classic) 15mm f/2.8. This is just nuts this lens they released.

Would be interesting to see if this lens could be used for portraiture i.e. minimum distance to subject without any or too much distortion with a vast backdrop, like a forest or cityscape.

Can you do a comparison of the 14mm vs the 15mm FE? I bought the 14 not knowing this 15mm behemoth was in the works. I'm just outside Tokyo if you want to borrow the 14!
You can get some really unique perspectives with a lens like that. That said it is tricky to use and tricky to control the distorsion and keep it pleasant to view.
Definitely a specialized niche lens

Are you able to do fisheye outdoor test?
It would be interesting for some users if the lens manufacture could include an optional rectilinear lens profile with these kind of fisheye lenses so that the user had the option of switching between the two lens profiles before capturing video. I know this can be corrected in post production, but it would be nice to have that option also during recording of the video.
Sigma sells a 14 mm f/1.4 DG DN Art lens that probably does that. It gives up some field of view.
When you're a skateboarder from 1996 but also have to be a professional photographer in 2024.

Rather than astro, if you have a clear night outside of a major city, try a timelapse of the night sky.

Yeah, I've got a question. Why didn't Sigma make this as a much smaller f/2 lens? Why this monster? I have an adapted Sigma DSLR fisheye lens. It's f/2.8. It has noticeable chromatic aberrations. A new lens that corrects for that is welcome, but f/1.4 whlich weighs 3 lbs and costs $1999? Is there really a market for that?

Why did Sigma make this awesome 15mm 1.4 lens with such a terrible rear mount filter system? I was hoping for the same as the 14-24mm 2.8 system.
