"I had every intention to talk to you, but nature had more to say" is the most beautiful, healing, wonderful sentence. Thank you for the gift of that rain!! I live in a very dry climate and we just don't get that kind of atmosphere here in the summer.
Okay now I finished the video and I just gotta say that this sweater is EVERYTHING. It looks amazing on you, you radiate joy in it. I am wrapping up the collar and about to start on the sleeves of a sweater that I am so excited to wear but cannot wear until the weather changes. (I'm not in a hurry, though. I love summer! And this sweater will sit patiently, like a fine bottle of wine, until the right time.)
I love your enthusiasm about your yarn and knitting. I’ve been spinning for years and just started knitting sweaters. It’s such a joy to knit with yarn that I’ve created. ❤
Hands down best, most original, sincere, unique, refreshing, productive, and a whole bunch of other stuff I could say…. On UA-cam. Love you girl!!!❤❤❤. Keep it up. Just so YOU, I love it.🎉🎉🎉
I haven’t seen anyone casually wear a watch in so long. Gorgeous spinning and knitting. I love that you are using local fleeces. I am inspired to source some for myself here in Schleswig-Holstein!
Many spinners find that commercially spun yarn feels 'dead' in their hands and knitting or crocheting with hand-spun is 'living' yarn. It is hard to explain but hand-spun has a distinct feel and a different connection to fibre crafts/arts.
I absolutely totally agree on having my sleeves be bracelet length or a tiny bit longer but not touching my wrists! Otherwise they get in the way of all the exciting handwork we have to do!!! Beautiful work and I loved your comment on connecting to nature and our ancestors. ❤❤❤❤
The sweater is stunning, the pattern and wool are just so beautiful together. I’m practicing my spinning as new to it and dream of producing a sweater like yours. Thank you for sharing your spinning and knitting creations. You are so inspiring.
What a beautiful sweater, quite perfect with your handspun. Love that you jumped right in and fixed the issue instead of just giving it away or not wearing it because it doesn’t make you happy. We all need to learn that lesson. Still love your dopamine sweater!
(Gasp) wow, just wow!! The blue texel looks great on you. I’m a big fan of wearing natural colours too. Nice job on the knitting and blocking. I hope you receive many compliments when wearing it.
You are so right - there is nothing like knitting with handspun yarn. Your sweater is a beautiful testament to how wonderful knitting with handspun truly is. And how wonderful that you have more knitting with the Blue Texel ahead of you! harpingJanet (PS. I totally get the sleeves past the wrist thing. Makes me all jumpy inside just thinking about it. Glad the sleeve surgery was so successful!)
I don't spin, yet, but I have thrown myself down the rabbit hole of plant dyeing and I really get that whole 'connection' idea. I am a process knitter and normally once it's done it's done, move on, but with my hand plant dyed makes I just keep gazing at them with an almost motherly love . A human knitting with wool provided by sheep who eat plants which release colour 😊
I love it too! I love it so much I'd like to make it for myself. Too bad that the pattern isn't available anymore, but I can use a stitch pattern book and create something similar. Your videos never fail to bring me happiness.
Yeah it isn't too difficult with the shaping. The Textured bit is alternating 3 purls and 2 knits to make a 2 row block shape, and then they had something called a 'rope stitch'
I had a period of time where I knitted a lot with this one burgandy yarn and made a hood, a covid mask, a sleeveless jumper, a shrug, a skirt, over-knee socks and slippers and honestly wearing them all together was an absolute vibe and I would love this for you. I finished one of my tour de fleece spinning projects a couple of weeks ago and it looks so good! It's a black and red lace shawl and it used 100% of the yarn I spun for it (lost yarn chicken on the row before cast off but had some more black in stash). I've been working on reducing my WIP pile (full chaos levels on the living room floor) but have plans for the chiengora I span during week 2 or 3 of tour de fleece!
@@MijnWolden alas I have no blue texel but I do have some Shetland cross Hebredian (fleece from this year and last) which is a similarly beautiful grey which I love to spin. I was also a little obsessed with light grey so have a full outfit quantity of items made from the same cheap acrylic in grey. (The best part is the trousers 😂)
Hi Jente, your cabled sweater is gorgeous!! I was already looking forward to see what you're going to knit, since i joined your channel at TdF with the Blue Texel fleece. I share your passion for the Blue Texel wool, i had just bought 2 fleeces BT at that time. Funny, i had the same thougts, that this rustic wool needs a cable pattern. I'm going for the Drops Renaissance cardigan. I can't process it so rapidly ....... it's gonna be a long term project. A good way to learn to love the process more then the result (what i usually do). Thanks for sharing your adventures on crafting with wool, i enjoy watching them
Love it! My grey Shetland sweater is currently waiting for me to spin some contrasting white/cream before I can keep knitting. That yarn and sweater make me feel the same as you do about the blue reception - it makes me so happy every time I pick it u to knit it. 😊
I came across your channel a few weeks ago and I probably have watched 40 hours of your videos, they are so relaxing and entertaining! Currently knitting a zipper sweater, and a pair of red socks with the softest alpaca yarn! I also started spinning with a drop spindle and got something that looks a lot like actual yarn haha. I want to buy a spinning wheel but I should wait until I move so I actualy have space...
I did my first TDF this year! I discovered your channel last year during TDF and finally started spinning in Jan 🎉 I made a 500yds of hand combed, 3ply Romney yarn that I finished knitting and crocheting into a little vest at the beginning of August ❤ it was such a joy to make a project from very start to finish for the the first time. Thank you for inspiring me to dive in!
Oh gosh the yarn and sweater outcome muah chef's kiss. You are always such a joy to watch. I have learned some things from you throughout your endeavors. Thank you for all the videos!❤
This sweater is sooo lovely and beautiful! 🥰 I recently discovered your channel and just want to say thank you for your lovely videos. I live in East Germany where elections were held on Sunday and the results were devastating and so now your content is my happy place for distraction and to save my mental health. (Not feeling well? Watch one of Jente's videos. - that is my mantra now.) ❤
I have 48 granny squares crocheted towards a granny-square cardigan. This includes some of my tour-de-fleece spin and I am LOVING being able to crochet with z twist yarn. I'm particularly proud of this because all the yarn I'm using is hand-spun on drop spindle (I started spinning in April this year, largely due to your bad chaotic influence - YAY! Love your content! Im an autistic+adhd knitter and your content speaks to my soul 😅 your content is getting me excited to add another hobby to my life...spinning!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your sweater! ❤ You did an awesome job! Congratulations 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻… 😊 I am currently working on the "Jamila" top, by Heidemarie Kaiser. I am using my TDF challenge yarn (to spin up the ugliest colourway I could find and some make it work in a garment … 😂), and I am completely blown away by how well it is actually turning out. It’s an average of 31 C all year ‘round here in the tropics and we’re so used to the heat, if it drops below 25 (as it sometimes does in winter) we’re frozen, so hopefully I will get a chance to wear it at some point lol! Loved hearing the rain and storms. We have just had 6 months of our "dry" season, and are very much looking forward to the stormy monsoon season which starts soon. That’s when our storm chasing shenanigans begin … YAY! 😁⛈️⛈️⛈️
I watched this while plying Blue Faced Leicester, the mix of greys, silver and blonde made it a lovely yarn to ply. Most of my TdeF yarn has been woven into cloth and prepared for sewing, it's just waiting until I feel like sewing. Je trui ziet er heel schattig uit.
That sweater is absolutely gorgeous! And I’m already looking forward to your next Blue Texel knits! My own TDF projects have been set on pause. One reason is that it’s absolute madness at work and I’m completely drained afterwards. That’s not a good time to knit with the lace weight yarn I’ve painstakingly spun up, especially since the haapsalu pattern I want to knit is pretty involved. So I decided to finish a few knits I’d left by the side over the past year. They’re close to mindless knits but extremely pleasing to the touch and, being lace too, warm weather doesn’t matter either. Next week I’ll be on vacation for two weeks though. Hopefully the knitting I’ve currently got on my needles will be off and I’ll feel rested enough to dive into my TDF knitting. 😍 The socks… well, whilst I’m oh so proud of having spun sock yarn, I’m still in need of a satisfying sock pattern. It feels…meh. To be continued. LOL Your cable knit sweater makes me want to knit cables. I love cables almost as much as lace. On the other hand, I really, REALLY want a crochet skull shawl myself. Out of handspun yarn. Oh, the choices… 😂
Love your sweater so much!!! “Goth kid in yellow” haha😅 . I just finished a cardigan for my toddler and almost done with my own cardigan with my yarn from tour de fleece! (I thought I wasn’t going to have enough for milk own, I think I maths wrong) Yay!
I just started my lingonberry sweater (in the color of blueberries) as part of a KAL. I have never done a circular yoke or three color color-work and am very excited to learn new things.
Beautiful sweater. I’m the same with sleeves and yes if too long they get in the way and dirty. I’m searching for the same fibre breed close to me in Ontario, Canada. Love the way it looks
This looks so cozy. I can totally see a long hooded cardigan in this blue texel. But I failed at tour de fleece i spun maybe enough for a hair scrunchie. I am just slow with crafts and I tend to knit much more than i spin. Working on my long summer cardigan because monsoon should be over soon. Have a great day
I do the exact same with sleeves. I'm always convinced they're a lot less fabric than the front or back pieces. Even though they are usually at least the same. I just started my second sleeve of the Williamsburg Cardigan Lite by Karas Knit Eng. I usually prefer anywhere from 5mm-8mm needles. My hands are too shaky for anything smaller. I love the look of fine knitting, so I just live vicariously through you.
You have every right to be proud! It is indeed a beautiful blue Texel cabled sweater :D Well done! I knitted a Vintersol sweater out of Bonte lamb spun during TdF. Next goal is a Texel sweater. I wonder why? 🤔😃
I totally feel you on the yarn and/or pattern must be interesting. I'm losing speed on a knit with a rather boring/consistent yarn. Pushing through! Tally ho!
Wow. That was so fast! I've been washing and prepping fleeces while the weather is good, I haven't even started knitting, but I got a drum carder and it's life changing. I do have one "blue" spotted fleece, but it's much more grey beige than silver blue like yours. Still nice. Considering over dying it olive green for the main body of a color work sweater.
I loooooved watching this video!! the blue texel is so beautiful, I will definitely be searching for a blue texel fleece to spin with (I'm Dutch, so it won't be that hard). also, your butterfly earrings are beautiful
My next big spin is going to be for a traveler shawl by Andrea Mowry. One of my Tour de Fleece goals was to get my fibre dyed (which I did) so now it's ready and waiting for me!
That blue texel jumper is lovely, you have every right to be proud of it. And the great thing with the blue texel is that it will go with just about anything and would look good on just about anyone. I'm with the people who've suggested that you use your next three skeins to knit a cardigan. I'd be looking at a pattern that is textured but not necessarily cabled, just for variety. Favourite needle sizes: British 14 to about 10, which is about 2 mm to 3.25 mm Current project: trying to smash together a hat using some of my handspun merino and alpaca (a commercially combed preparation). It's a gently variegated moss green and very, very soft. My default spin is lace weight, so I'm not smashing it together quite as quickly as I would hope. I'm also working it on sock needles and I'm having to pay more attention to making sure stitches don't slide off the needles than I would like because I've really got more stitches on the needles than they're designed for. That's definitely slowing me down a bit. One day I'm going to have to learn how to spin thicker yarn!
I read this as haven-spun, lol. That blue texel as always look divine. My fav knitting sizes are 3.5-4mm, and crochet 3mm (2.5-3.75mm) If our postal "service" wasn't such a joke I'd be begging you to knit me a 10x10cm swatch and send it to me so I could nose it an snuggle it. It looks sooooo good 🤍 and cozy 🤩
And Belgian postal services are one big clown face too. With the TdF secret Santa the only hickups were with the gifts coming from and going to Belgium 😅
I think my personal favorite sizes in knitting needles range from about 3mm to 4.5mm (maybe 5mm but that feels like it's pushing it a bit already). I like how drapey the fabrics I can make that way are, plus whenever i enter a space with yarn I am immediately drawn to the thinner yarns (and I somehow always manage to find those spun with 3 ply XD)
your sweater is so lovely! :) my tdf wool is slowly becoming a rolled 2x2 rib neck for an eventual turtle neck sweater :D but at the speed I knit I may be making an outdoorsy sweater for crosscontry skiing this winter, first, otherwise I might finish it next summer xD hahaha
Nicely done on the sweater! Absolutely gorgeous colour and texture to it! I'm working on a synthetic handknit scarf, but it's sort of an in-between project and will be given away anyways, so it bothers me a little less that I'm using acrylic..? But my next project will likely be another fingering weight wool shawl, if I'm being honest. Though I'm also weaving a woolen blanket too!
I am currently mindlessly crocheting a blanket with thrifted yarns. Colours are: off while, pink, and 3 shades of blue. Reason? Well I realised the decreases on my 2.5mm knitted skirt project were garbage, and I have to unravel ... 1 skein worth of work, and I can't handle that. I am also sick. I wish I could be as fast and successful as you ^^"
I'm sorry to hear you are unwell. I hope that will change soon and that you'll get your knitting mojo back, even with the unfortunate prospect of having to rip out a skein's worth of work. Are you sure the decreases are rubbish or is that not-feeling-well talking? I've not been too crash hot myself recently, which has slowed my crafting a bit but I had my second last chemo session today (they're weekly) so I'm getting a bit closer to the light at the end of the tunnel.
@@resourcedragon oooooof .... chemo ... that's rough .....I don't even wanna know how it feels like =( As for the decreases, yes they are. I used a free pattern, which already had awful decreases, I wanted to improve them myself ... didn't work. Then I actually did some research on youtube, and watched some very good videos, and now I know I want the good looking ones ^^ It's 2x2 rib all over. It's gonna be a good thing, I know, I just don't have the willpower to do it right now.
i have a similar sleeve delulu. and i get the sleeves out of the way. and then i can no longer jump back and forth between the different parts of the sweater and i have to keep going at the rest of the body and it's boring and i start thinking i should have left the sleeves for the end. sigh. oh and btw DAAAAAAMN THE WOOL IS SO BEAUTIFUL AAAA
Are you going to dye the blue teal for your next project it will still have all the variations but just in colour. I am not a grey wearer so even though I love the colours of the fleeces I normally dye either the finished product or the yarn before knitting still love the design and looks great on you
AAaaaaahhh your sweater is gorgeous! I'm actually the opposite of you, I need my sleeves to come past the point of my wrists to the top of my hands. However my recent sweatersleeves come past my knuckles, and they're knit bottom up, so I think some surgery is going to be needed as well. (The sweater before that has one sleeve that's like 10 cm longer than the other? Even though I could swear I used a row counter and made both sleeves exactly as long as the other? No idea what happened there...)
This might get lost in the comments but could you please show a full combing "cycle" or how you comb? I was trying to understand it in your 100 day spindle challenge but it was too fast for me😅. And also, do you have the link to your combs? I think you mentioned they are 3d printed and my little craft hands are curious 😂
I don't know what is available for you, but spinningwheel brands like Ashford and spinolution have a list of sellers on their websites, I would try there first
I currently am working on a hat for my bf (it's about all he gets because I *fully* believe in the sweater curse 😅). I'm newer to knitting, and I've been looking for a cable knit pattern for beginners that works with spun yarn, if anyone has any suggestions! I absolutely love your sweater!!!
The patterns by Drops/garnstudio are free and they have quite a bit of cabled designs, so if you want to try before throwing a lot of money at a pattern, I'd start there
Hey Jente! Zou je heel alsjeblieft dit patroon willen delen? Ik zou deze trui ook heel graag willen proberen te maken 😊 ik kan mijn e-mail doorgeven evt. Groetjes, Sanne

Have a great day
Handspun hair scrunchies are quite the luxury though
I do the exact same with sleeves. I'm always convinced they're a lot less fabric than the front or back pieces. Even though they are usually at least the same. I just started my second sleeve of the Williamsburg Cardigan Lite by Karas Knit Eng.
I usually prefer anywhere from 5mm-8mm needles. My hands are too shaky for anything smaller. I love the look of fine knitting, so I just live vicariously through you.
Big needles make my hands too shaky. I get so clumsy with them
You have every right to be proud! It is indeed a beautiful blue Texel cabled sweater :D Well done! I knitted a Vintersol sweater out of Bonte lamb spun during TdF. Next goal is a Texel sweater. I wonder why? 🤔😃
Oh vintersol is a great pattern!
I totally feel you on the yarn and/or pattern must be interesting. I'm losing speed on a knit with a rather boring/consistent yarn. Pushing through! Tally ho!
And oh god also the sleeves being only the halfway point is also relatable
You can do it!
Dyeing over grey fleece is Fun!
Oh, I forgot but your cropped sweater turned amazingly! Maybe a cardigan next?
I might need some cardigans yes haha
I loooooved watching this video!! the blue texel is so beautiful, I will definitely be searching for a blue texel fleece to spin with (I'm Dutch, so it won't be that hard).
also, your butterfly earrings are beautiful
My best friend made the earrings for me 😁
My next big spin is going to be for a traveler shawl by Andrea Mowry. One of my Tour de Fleece goals was to get my fibre dyed (which I did) so now it's ready and waiting for me!
I haven't tried for myself but I've heard that Andrea mowry's patterns are great for handspun
Favourite needle sizes: British 14 to about 10, which is about 2 mm to 3.25 mm
Current project: trying to smash together a hat using some of my handspun merino and alpaca (a commercially combed preparation).
The Blue Texel does fit with everything, it's great 😁
Saturday 31 Aug (just): despite the challenges I have finished the hat (other than the blocking). It looks good.
I read this as haven-spun, lol. That blue texel as always look divine.
My fav knitting sizes are 3.5-4mm, and crochet 3mm (2.5-3.75mm)
If our postal "service" wasn't such a joke I'd be begging you to knit me a 10x10cm swatch and send it to me so I could nose it an snuggle it. It looks sooooo good 🤍 and cozy 🤩
And Belgian postal services are one big clown face too. With the TdF secret Santa the only hickups were with the gifts coming from and going to Belgium 😅
I was going to cast on my TDF sweater last weekend during a once yearly spinning retreat that I was booked into but my daughter ended up in hospital.
Ohno! I hope your daughter is ok
@@MijnWolden yes she's much better now
@@hawthorngrove3629 I'm happy to hear that!
@@MijnWoldenthanks
Love your enthusiasm . I am a dk spinner and 4ply knitter (timely cardigan at present) sp maybe I can alter the timely cardy to Dk with handspun
Yeah me too, don't care a lot about the bulky yarns
your sweater is so lovely! :)
my tdf wool is slowly becoming a rolled 2x2 rib neck for an eventual turtle neck sweater :D but at the speed I knit I may be making an outdoorsy sweater for crosscontry skiing this winter, first, otherwise I might finish it next summer xD hahaha
It'll be gorgeous anyway
Nicely done on the sweater! Absolutely gorgeous colour and texture to it!
I'm working on a synthetic handknit scarf, but it's sort of an in-between project and will be given away anyways, so it bothers me a little less that I'm using acrylic..? But my next project will likely be another fingering weight wool shawl, if I'm being honest. Though I'm also weaving a woolen blanket too!
Acrylic has its uses too
Oh no i have whiteface woodland and Hebridean waiting to spin, now i want to find some blue texel 😮
Ohno whatever will you do 🤭
I am currently mindlessly crocheting a blanket with thrifted yarns.
@@resourcedragon oooooof .... chemo ... that's rough .....I don't even wanna know how it feels like =(
As for the decreases, yes they are. I used a free pattern, which already had awful decreases, I wanted to improve them myself ... didn't work. Then I actually did some research on youtube, and watched some very good videos, and now I know I want the good looking ones ^^
It's 2x2 rib all over. It's gonna be a good thing, I know, I just don't have the willpower to do it right now.
I understand not being able to handle ripping back 1 skein worth of work... It Brings so much heart pain
I hope the light in the tunnel is near for you!
i have a similar sleeve delulu. and i get the sleeves out of the way. and then i can no longer jump back and forth between the different parts of the sweater and i have to keep going at the rest of the body and it's boring and i start thinking i should have left the sleeves for the end. sigh.
oh and btw DAAAAAAMN THE WOOL IS SO BEAUTIFUL AAAA
I KNOW RIGHT?! 😁
Are you going to dye the blue teal for your next project it will still have all the variations but just in colour. I am not a grey wearer so even though I love the colours of the fleeces I normally dye either the finished product or the yarn before knitting still love the design and looks great on you
I have put some Blue Texel in a solar dye jar as a small experiment and it looks promising for further dye exploration yes
I could be wrong Jente but I'm starting to get the feeling that you quite like blue texel wool? 🤷♀️😁
What? Where did you get that idea? 🤭
Yes, past the knuckles might be too much of a good thing 😅
I neeeeeeeeed someone to find this pattern on Ravelry or somewhere ;-;
I have tried, but alas ☹️
Wow é molto bello
Ti chiedo dove posso trovare il modello del cardigan marrone, mi piace un sacco 🐝🌸
The Brown cardigan is the Ferndell cardigan by NCL knits
@@MijnWolden grazie
Would you ever consider knitting a long coat with all your blue texel yarn?
Not really, but has mostly to do with my personal style and I don't think long top pieces look good on me
This might get lost in the comments but could you please show a full combing "cycle" or how you comb? I was trying to understand it in your 100 day spindle challenge but it was too fast for me😅. And also, do you have the link to your combs? I think you mentioned they are 3d printed and my little craft hands are curious 😂
The Combs are from Instrumentum Textilae on Etsy!
I myself chetna I am from India and i want to buy a spinning wheel can you suggest me from where to buy a spinning wheel online
Stuur me een mailtje op mijnwolden(at)gmail.com :)
Aaack!! Choose a different microphone holder!!! I was afraid you would stab your face or neck at any moment!!!
Witam 🤗 ile razy greplujesz wełnę na grę pralce.
I carded this wool two times, to keep the colours a bit more seperate, mostly I card three times
