1:18:17 Apartheid. Dutch word sort of means segregation (literally it means separateness or differentness). It is where race mixing was illegal, in South Africa they sort of got the Jim crow laws on steroids.

Technically it's more of a Dutch related word because the local language has changed so much from the original it's it's own thing now.
It does sound Dutch and it's sad our ancestors were as involved with slavery and related activities as they were.

Persia is not Iran. A lot of modern middle east countries are carved up in a way that divides and combines different groups in a way that doesn't make any sense. A lot of it was done after the first world war when much of the Middle East was liberated by Lawrence of Arabia. 54:19 I've talked to plenty of Europeans and they don't assume any American is from any state. One of my gfs is from England and she confirmed that most people in Europe don't assume you're from any state because to them an American is an American. They know there's different states and accents and such but they aren't gonna treat you any different if you're from Midwest, East Coast, West Coast, South, or any other part of the US. To Europeans an American is an American regardless what state they're from.

To assume that the whole world distinguishes which bit of your country you are from is a bit self-obsessed.
Besides, when I, as a European from Germany, refer to America, I mean a continent, cromprising many countries, one of which is the USA.
When I want to refer to the USA, I usually call it "the USA" :)

I never was in a situation that I had to show my ID for my age while the card was expired. I know for sure that it's not accepted for identification. But like you said: it is not like your age changed. In The Netherlands I think it depends on why you need to show it. I guess bars dont mind, but I feel like the government would make a point out of it. At least I assume. I think it also depends on what person you speak and how they feel (about you) and they can always defend it by the technicality. Which is that an expired ID is not valid.

Canada isn't "technically" of the US. It's technically from England, with now King Charles III as Canadian head of states. With Russia as the biggest country, Canada is second. Officially Canada is bi-lingual, French and English. Although Canada and the USA have a very good bond, mostly financial, they're both totally different states.

'boss-ship' or 'boss-hood'), which ensured that South Africa was dominated politically, socially, and economically by the nation's minority white population.[4] In this minoritarian system, there was social stratification, where white citizens had the highest status, followed by Indians and Coloureds, then Black Africans.[4] The economic legacy and social effects of apartheid continue to the present day, particularly inequality.[5][6][7][8]

There's some weird ones in here. The question "do you have highways" is not a stupid question. A road is not a highway, asling "do you have roads" IS a stupid question but since there were no highways in Europe or America or anywhere in the wolrd before 1945... There are MANY places that have no highways. It's not a stupid question, the person who was asked didn't understand the question, that is all.

Falafel is just one dish, not a country nor a separate culture. It's just one dish, one of many and it's made in different countries. It's not unlike asking if there is a bread stand.
Also, I only recently discovered that Americans pronounce Gouda as gooda. The Dutch pronounce it as hauda, but gauda is more common in the rest of the world.
P.S. you're getting a like from me anyway, (I always like the videos that I watch, like a courtesy like) but this one is especially earned because of the mobile hotspot situation. Just so you know, it can happen in Europe too. Maybe not days at a time, but it has happened to me a couple of times to buy an internet package on my phone because my internet was down for a moment. So, I know exactly what you're talking about.
    P. P. S. Dude, all the Canadians I've met say that they've never met anyone who says 'aboot' - that's a stereotype. American English and Canadian English are both classified together as North American English. Google it!
Contrary to what you're saying, I understand that the differences may become more apparent in the future.

Britain hasn't got an accent it has 100's of accents not just one, you can go from one city the it's neighbour city and the accent will be different. London (England) itself hasn't even got just one accent. Even the three smaller countries of Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland has different accents in the individual countries. For instance Glasgow and Edinburgh have completely different accents but both have a Scottish twang to them, also Cardiff and Newport to Welsh cities that actually share a border have different accents. But we have been speaking English even before the land wasn't taken off the natives (including Mexicans) in the US by force.

The word apartheid evolved in Afrikaans from the original "life of separation" to the later "life of separation on the grounds of race" in a political system. The word was adopted untranslated into most other languages and became a synonym for any form of racial segregation. Apartheid was related to the system of bosshood, the superiority of the white minority.

there are morphological differences. just like you can tell fox apart from a dog, or a hare from a rabbit, or a crocodile from an alligator even though they have generally almost identical body shape, you can tell wallabies apart from kangaroos. from the distance, in bad light, or if you aren't all that familiar with these species it can be a little difficult, but they have differences. the shape of the skull, the proportion of legs compared to the body, size and shape of ears, the way they move - these things help to tell them apart.

Make no mistake, since the U.S by and large already have this 'breakaway mentality' they would not notice and even so would not mind. The sheer arrogance and cognitive dissonance is disturbing. I would just distance the two 'planets' because quite frankly I want to live.

Apartheid is extreme racism, such as calling "negro" a bad word, or considering all Americans who are not from the US or Canada to be brown or black, or even considering Americans to be exclusively from the US. What other thing? Oh yeah. Apartheid arises from the idea of separating racial groups and intolerance to mixed race or even cultural mixing. Hence Apartheid supporters feel offended by "cultural appropriation" and by not being able to immediately classify someone by origin, ethnicity, accent, etc. 🙂But please don't be offended, look this up.
