    this is a very well structured tutorial. comparing this to Boris FX's Primatte Tutorial (or any of their other tutorial for that matter), there's a night & day difference.

    06:02 This video should should have mentioned this key point up front. While in Premiere Pro, YOU MUST HAVE THE PRIMATTE EFFECT HIGHLIGHTED IN THE EFFECT WINDOW IN ORDER FOR ANY OF THE MATTE BACKGROUND AND FOREGROUND OR MATTE CORRECTION TOOLS TO WORK. Otherwise you can click all day long and no pixels will be selected. Selecting the foreground/background or matte correction tools alone will not work, nor will selecting those tools highlight the Primatte effect in the Premiere Pro effect window. You must manually select and highlight the Primatte effect in the effect window in order for any of the tools to work.

    Can Primatte be used effectively in Premiere on an adjustment layer over the footage like Ultra key can? Or does it need to be applied directly on the footage?
    Also, although you mention it is GPU accelerated, I did notice a red line in the timeline, and no GPU icon in the effects panel. Can you elaborate?

    If I have green eyes (lenses) how to mask them out from effect? With keylight I can do it with Inside mask and chose any mask of my layer. Where is this function in Primatte? Is there a way to do it without duplicate main layer?

    • @MaxonRedgiant
      @MaxonRedgiant 3 роки тому +2

      In After Effects, you can mask effects so that they don't apply in certain areas. In your timeline twirl open your Primatte effect and, at the bottom, you will see compositing options, you can choose a mask there.
      You can do it with ANY effect now; it doesn't need to be integrated into the effect anymore. That feature in Keylight was created before AE had that functionality built in natively.

    Okay, so I've got a rather difficult shot. It's a miniature forest with a lot of thin branches that catch the spill. It's been a nightmare in After Effects Keylight. It's moving camera shot so I'm dealing with chatter and disappearing parts. If I buy this product will I be able to solve these problems?

      @@raymundtan3261 I did end up getting this plugin and the answer to my question is a complicated one. Is this a good advanced tool to help with difficult keys? Yes. Is it going to simplify the process of complex green screen shots? HELL to the NO. I am glad I got it but if you don't have the money to throw at this plugin, you should be aware that it's no substitute for, nor will it save you from the required time and effort it takes to pull great keyed shots. In fact, when I applied it to my shots it came with its own brand new set of complications. However, I would recommend it to people who can afford it and have dedicated themselves to bettering their green screen game. I even managed to create some solid shots using a combination of layers segmented by masks, with Primatte used on some and Keylight used on others. I may create a tutorial about that, in the future. So, overall, yes, this is a good product but it's no substitute for putting in the work. Give them time, though. I believe this is yet another issue that's going to be solved by automation soon enough.

      @@christophermoonlightproduction I also have this at work and use this "occassionaly" because as you have mentioned it also introduced a new set of problems. I see it as a newbie friendly tool for green screen, but for those complex green screen shots I agree with you that it does not take away the proccess of meticulously adjusting a bunch of settings. Hence I still stick to my old ways but I do hope they still improve this

      Maybe pre-comp the keyed footage before throwing them to SuperComp? I always pre-comp everything into ready, standalone elements before throwing them to SuperComp and that seems to work the best.
