  • I give all my videos some kind of title. Don´t know why, but it just seems more personal.
    The videos I upload are not extreme situations, I know that.
    They are all from a limited time, and from the heavy Volvo truck I drive.
    Please keep that in mind.
    I do all this work on my spare time, this video took 5-6 hours of editing...and still it dosent look better than this :)
    The camera I use now is a Blackvue DR750S, and an older 650GW pointed to my mirrors.
    If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
    If you like the video and want to se more, plz like and subscribe! :)
    A few Words about the clips:
    1. This is NOT a crazy russian too much vodka compilation.
    2. It's mainly daily situations from a truck's point of view
    3. I try to avoid calling pepole idiots and stuff like that. I prefer just the show the different situations and let you be the judge.
    4. Dont take it to serious, if you find it interesting thats great, if you can have a laugh thats even better.
    5. We all can make misstakes

    Cars running without lights has become an epidemic ever since the introduction of those damned DRLs (daytime running lights). Many of those cars have LEDs in front bright enough for the driver to not realize their lights are off (especially within city limits or on well-lit roads) and some of those cars even have the dashboard permanently lit up as well, so to the driver everything looks fine and dandy. At least some cars also light up their rear lights together with the DRLs.

      over here in uk (i ride a 125cc motorcycle ) all bikes 125 and below must have lights on permanently so no off switch just dip and main beam but it doesent aply to larger machines for some reason

    • @dubious6718
      @dubious6718 6 років тому

      The solution is to use high-beams on them and as long as there is no traffic in the opposite lane, you can have them on permanent, so you can see the car

    First of all: Thanks for giving me the opportunity to "be in Sweden" even if I sit in Germany. Some parts I do recognize and it is a joy to watch.
    Then about the light isue: Using rentalcars all the time, I have the advantage of getting the newest and "safest" cars. The only problem I have: If youi switch the light to "automatic", there are light conditions that the sensors seem to interprete wrong. There seems to be enough light, so the lights are not (fully) turned on, but due to the weather conditons, the visibility is low. I solve the problem by turning the lights manualy on as soon as I pick up a car, not worrying about turning the lights of, modern cars switch them of as soon as the key gets far enough away from the vehicle.
    No excuse for those who do not use lights, but it might explain.

    People not turning in lights is getting a real problem here in the netherlands too. Expecially when the street lights arent on yet.
    People are like the streetligths arent on so my lights dont need to be on either. Yeah but at the same time it's becoming winter and it gets dark earlier and earlier/
    At driving lessons we even get taught to turn on our lights even when it's day because you visibility will increase.

    I would love to have a sit down with the clever EU-people who decided that no rear lights was a brilliant idea. I'd ask them how they came to that conclusion, and if they still think they deserve a seat in any legislative assembly going forwards. I'd love to hear them argue their brilliance after that fuckup.
    Anyways.. new cars approved by the EU after mid-2016 have to have the rear lights on aswell. I don't get why they didn't make that law retro active. This safety hazard needs to be fixed asap imho.

    My father had a VW beetle, 35 hp, max speed 100 km/h. (downhill, wind from behind and meatballs for dinner)
    Assuming a modern car needs the same to drive at 80 km/h, that would be 26000 Watts (35hp*725W/hp)... Taillights 1 Watt for LED. Someone had a strike of genius there.

    After years as both driver & passenger I have a hypothesis about the mentality of drivers who do not use their lights. They live in a 2 dimensional world of thought; I don't need lights because I can see just fine. Cannot grasp the concept of "being" seen by the others on the road. Sadly it may take a close call with another driver almost running into them or they almost run into another because they could not see them before they grasp that.

      be nice if all car makers were forced to install sensors that make lights come on automatically cause drivers with no lights causes road rage, it sure does for me but i do nothing about it except turn my lights on off and on just once and most people turn their lights on, but i could see it, the sensor would detect the car is traveling and that it is getting dark so, presto, the lights come on automatically and saves lives, and tempers.

    Ok, on the lights: You buy a car, you have a license - TURN ON YOUR LIGHTS. If you are unable to do so your license will be taken away. Now, I admit that this is a car company issue and not so much the driver (like 70/30). The car companies should have lights on mandatory all the time. Just because your dash is lit does not mean your lights are on.

      Nothing wrong with DLR but really need rear lights to also be always on. If I ever end up getting a car with front DLR I will be finding a way to force the rears to be on at the same time (programming or fuse box fix)

    Hahah 6:40 är det jag i taxin, skulle inte kört om dem andra heller men de låg för långsamt så tanken slog mig att jag kanske skulle hinna, var stressad av killen bakom mig som fick stanna på 45an med 😂😂

    Indicatores on BMWs & Audis and most Golfs cost extra and when installed are seldom used as they may use more fuel.

    get one of those triple horns that are mounted to freight train. Use it when people do something really dangerous - this idea looks good in text, but would likely not be legal.

    I saw my pet driving peeve, ( must pass everyone, just to turn off at the next turnoff or exit) I even had a semi(HGV, Lorry) do it to me right before a construction zone then turn off in the cnstruction area.

    Here in Germany Snow came, stayed for maybe one day and then left...
    Today same thing, came over night, snowed till noon, then temperatures got too high, snow turn in rain and the snow that was already there melted...
    That is so frustrating :(

    Great video!
    6:40 Swedish crash barriers are so scary, imagine a motorcycle rider is crashing there.
    7:45 I saw this all the time when I was in Sweden. Of course drivers who're doing this are stupid. But at the same time this is a huge constructional fail, because it was completely predictable that a lot of drivers will do exactly this before the two lanes become one. :-D

    8:51 Volvo har faktiskt bakljusen tända om du har i auto-läget (eller i halvljusläget också såklart), så man måste aktivit ha slagit av ljuset i bilen för att få det släckt sådär! Så korkat! Inte Volvos fel att föraren manuellt faktiskt vridit av ljusvreder... ;)

    • @truckdriver1982
      @truckdriver1982  6 років тому

      Precis! Det konstigt är att jag sett ganska många nya Volvos, V90 och XC90 som varit helt nedsläckta. Mycket märkligt...

      @BjarnePincett 6 років тому +2

      De har satt framljusen på dagljus, alltså de häftiga LED ljusen fram då är baklamporna släckta, helt idiotiska EU regler som så många andra regler från EU som inte är anpassade för Svenska förhållanden.

    • @volvodashcam
      @volvodashcam 6 років тому

      BjarnePincett Jo vi har koll på idiotin med DRL. :) Grejen med Volvo är dock att om man har i auto-läget så har man DRL-lamporna på dagtid då det är ljust, men också alltid bakljusen. Man måste alltså som förare aktivt vrida vredet till 0 eller parkeringsljus för att bakljusen ska vara släkta. Varför man gör det kan jag inte förstå.

      en dum regel/lag, vetetusan hur den gick igenom, vill man inte synas i trafiken ? Har varit nära att mosa rumpan på bilar som varit "nedsläckta" - tillåtet dagtid, men vad gör det när det är mörkt vid 15-tiden - "TD" - gillar dina videos grymt, som sagts tidigare skön blandning musik o sluten är sjukt sköna. Keep 'em coming !

    You know why the Volvo doesn't have the lights on 24/7 as it is law in Sweden? because Volvo is now a Chinese brand and they don't give a FCUK. Btw. Nice chillout section on the end ;)
