Good fight, I got Helenius in a rematch.
Helenius had the fight the whole time he landed more punches and was the more strategic fighter. I feel like The knockout at the end was more so a fatigue then sheer power but all in all Washington had a great fight.

If Helenius dous not start moving his body and head more, getting out of the punching range, so basicly removing that Stick out of his back and neck, I don't see him winning against Wilder. Standing in front of Wilder like that is asking to get knockout.
Well, obviously and that is how Helenius got the fight. But to Wilder's credit, he did exactly what he is supposed to do. If anything Wilder has proven to be a clutch boxer it is a shame he has not tested himself against higher competition in his career tho.

As Helenius said, he was embarrassed how this fight ended. Later we heard he was sick during this fight, but he never himself used that as an excuse and if you go into the fight sick it's on you. Good he won Adam Kownacki and is back in the game. Hard to look at how exhausted he got here. Even still, not a good fight from Helenius. You can lose, but it better be like the Duhaupas fight.

Man Wilder made easy work of both of these guys. I'd love to see Wilder vs Usyk next. If Usyk decides not to fight Wilder because he just wants the Fury fight next in 2023 I think Wilder will fight Andy Ruiz next. It's the easiest fight to make being in house. But I'd love to see Wilder fight Anthony Joshua and or Dillian Whyte. With Wilder working with Malik Scott I see the improvements Wilder is making. Wilder actually parried the first two shots that Helenius threw as he came in to attack Wilder right before Wilder knocked him out. If you look closely Wilder raised his left arm up while he threw that right hand knockout punch on Helenius! Wilder was being defensively responsible and it looked like it's been drilled into Wilders muscle memory by Malik Scott. Helenius was in the middle of throwing his big right hand at Wilder when Wilder knocked him out with his own right hand but Wilder at 215lbs is just extremely fast with his punches , accuracy, and reflexes. Wilder's power and speed at 215lbs is extraordinary! Helenius did not see that right hand of Wilder coming because he thought he saw an opening and was trying to throw his own right hand to knock Wilder out when Wilder landed. The Wilder Helenius fight only lasted 2 minutes and 50 seconds let's say but you could see all the things Wilder and Malik Scott were working on in camp. As the fight started Wilder was using his movement going around the ring and side to side. I think it confused Helenius and maybe he thought Wilder might be a little gun shy after Wilder's last two fights with Fury. Nope. During Wilder's camp Malik Scott said the game plan was to utilize Wilder's movement and to draw Helenius in and then give Helenius the Arthur Spilka treatment. Man did that plan work perfectly. I'd like to see more rounds with this new Wilder under Malik Scott to show his feints and punch selection that he's been working on in camp. Wilder is about to turn 37 years old and has said he will only fight 3 more years and won't fight past the age of 40. This Wilder is very comfortable with Malik Scott and trusts him completely. At any weight Wilder has that devastating knockout power but at 215 to 220lbs I think Wilder is much quicker on his feet and extremely fast with his punches. In Wilder's last fight with Fury I understand why he tried to gain muscle and put on weight so that Fury couldn't push him back and lay his body weight on him but I think it made Wilder tire out and too sluggish in that fight. This is the perfect weight for Wilder. Not a certain number of pounds but just as Wilder said his happy weight. He just trains hard in camp working on specific things and whatever weight he comes into the ring at is the right weight. The heavyweight division is back on notice.
Lesson: Never lean backwards as a defensive strategy.
