Your the man!! just fought a mink in my hunting blind in Michigan unfortunately I thought it was a rat so I coaxed it out of the wall and stomped on it which I didn’t plan on with a mink but I didn’t let it go to waste I’m learning now how to make my young daughter a change purse out of the hide. These damn things stink though it’s wild.
Working my first hide ever. Muskrat. Everything else says leave the membrane, tried taking that off but seemed too like it was taking too much. So I just scraped lightly as best I could and salted it. We will see. Would love to see the process of removing that membrane
Ever do a video on the larger fatties animals? Otter, beaver ect?
Thank you great info.
Glad it was helpful!
Will the mink spray stink go away ?
Good info, appreciate it. Thank you. 1 question, if you were to put the wet tanned hide on a stretcher and pin it down then let it finish drying then flip it would it hold that shape ? More stiff and looking like a ready to ship to the fur buyer hide ? Just curious, thank you in advance.
Yes absolutely, it would hold that "tight" wall hanger shape.
Would this work for tanning a badger hide
Can't see why not...
Should you stretch the hide before salting?
I don't, but i can't see where it would hurt
Thank you. Had a mink kill half of my duck flock, wanted a memento from the little 💩
lol, use it on your mashed potatoes!
