Maya and her cousin were at their grandmother's house, just back from the craft store, and ready for a day of crafting. It was a sunny and seemingly beautiful day, hardly a cloud in the sky, and they had just started working on their DIY project when suddenly their grandmother's phone started beeping and squawking - not like a regular phone call or text, but a real alert!
They all ran to the phone and it was a tornado warning! Maya started freaking out, she felt like she was about to have a mental breakdown, and then the rain started coming, the wind picked up, and the sky turned dark. What was with the weather? Why was it so extreme? Because it was not her parents house but rather her grandparents house, it was more scary.
They all ran to the basement as fast as they could. They could hear the rain coming down, so loud, pouring, and the wind howling and crashes like thunder! It was too much - Maya burst out crying.
The whole thing hadn't quite settled in with her cousin though, and she just sort of looked confused - but for Maya it was super scary. For some reason, she was convinced that she was going to die.
Their grandma suggested that they get into a circle and pray, but while Maya was praying all she could think about were all the scary things that could happen in a tornado. They had had tornados and hurricanes around them before, and they got a lot of tornado warnings, hurricane warnings and storm warnings where they live, but for some reason this one felt different to her. Would it flood?
Even though the sky had turned a weird green color, with a ton of effort, finally, she started to calm down and started feeling a little less scared. Was this the eye of the storm?
But, of course that's when her cousin started freaking out, running in circles, crying, and so it was Maya who had to calm her down. She was just starting to make her cousin feel better when, suddenly, the power went out! Maya screamed, like she was in a horror film, and that sent her cousin back into a frenzy, who started crying again, and that made Maya start crying again, and there they were, totally scared again and out of control.
But, finally, after a little while it sounded like things were calming down, and their grandpa went upstairs to see what was going on. It all started to calm down, and the storm ran out of energy. They all went back upstairs, and, after all that, it turned out it wasn't even a tornado - just a warning and a fast moving storm.
They were left without power for a few days, which wasn't so bad, but, the whole thing, and how scary it was, and the tornado warning itself, ended up being fun, and a fun story to tell, and, just maybe, made it so Maya would stay a bit calmer the next time there was a heavy weather warning. Hurricane Harvey.

We were in biology, and almost everyone had a phone (not me, haha) and one kid got an amber alert. The teacher started to yell at him, and took his phone. Then all of the phones started to go off. He got his phone back, but it was so funny to me.

I believe green skies occur due to the reflection of heavy rain and hail by the sunlight. Most of the time when there is a green sky, there is no tornado. It is just that tornadoes are often accompanied with a nearby “core” of heavy rain and hail.

I once was in a tornado when I was 3. I had just moved to my new house in Colorado. It's a cloudy day. All of a sudden I hear the TV making the noise for a weather alert. I started crying my eyes out. Everybody went in the basement and we played board games until it was over.
I've been in a tornado and it destroyed my mom's car, our trampoline,and all of our bikes and we were without power for 4 days 😱😱 and 1 little kid died cause he didn't get out of his mom's car in time and a tree fell on him😔

i was at school and there was no sun it was 12pm and the sun was still not there and we left and wen i got home i saw in the window there was a tornado and a house break down there was like 100000000 house break down but not my house only room
From watching these stories I have realized that literally everyone else deals with problems completely different from the way I do. With problems like this I literally say suck it up and deal with it while everyone else is panicking.😂 It's the same with pain of any kind, I never cry or scream or view it as a big deal but then there's my friends and family who are bawling her eyes out. 😂 Yeah I'm not good with comfort either.😂

I once was in a tornado, and after it left the area, my mom and I went outside and there was trash everywhere. Things had been flying all over town. Anyways, my mom found a banana bread recipe on a notepad and we still use it to this day. It's been 7 years lol.

I had a tornado warning on my phone so I had to stay downstairs with my family I heard some liqhting we got some blankets and chargers and all the stuff we need my dad slept upstairs I slept downstairs with my mom big sis and littlebrother and my cousin and my aunt they came to my house because they were scared so I think the tornado is over but not the flood still not over alot of water so yeah. If you made it to the end here's a 🍰 and 🍪 because you made it to the end!! :)

I’ve had a ton of bad weather experiences lol. I live in Florida so I had to sit through Irma which was crazy and we had no power for two days. and I used to live in Tennessee which tends to sometimes get severe storms in the spring so I’ve been in several instances where we’ve had to take cover and it turned out there was no tornadoes. but the craziest experience was my sophomore year of high school I was driving to school and a bad thunderstorm popped up literally out of nowhere and there was so much rain I could barely see three feet in front of me and the rain and hail was pounding so hard I couldn’t hear the tornado sirens going off until I actually got into the school parking lot. I later found out that there had been an actual tornado on the ground that was happening while I was driving and was only like two miles away from my school so needless to say I was shooketh

When someone tells a story about a tornado, it’s actually very common for someone to say in a tornado. I lived in Missouri and we were in a tornado storm and it went right by us. It’s even common even if there was a tornado surprisingly.
I would relate to this bc of texas dealing with hurricane harvey its been raining flooding, about 3 dead and many are injured, And i prayed every night i pray for all those people that are in recovery ares made my the red cross i appreciated for stayong alive and well

I was in the Oklahoma tornado...it was a terrible experience all the girls went in the girls bathroom eventually the tornado hit the bathroom and we all ran out and no one died (thank you god) and then we watched as the girls bathroom literally just be pulled away... everyone was screaming...I remember looking and seeing my friend Emily had blood all over her and I started crying...anyway we had no shelter except the bus stop..we all ran to the bus stop and ducked under the seats then we waited there for around about 30 minutes the tornado still hadn’t stopped but we were safe... it eventually stopped and it was even worse because we were stuck outside...

It wasn’t a hurricane but I remember when Hurricane Sandy hit my area in late 2012.
The winds reached around 80 MPH , and my town lost power for around a few days. The entire county was out for around a week or two.
Never did I hear the wind gusts blow so strong, and never before did I ever see so many downed trees and power lines.
Some trees and poles even got snapped in half.

I once experienced a tornado, my mom was at work and my family was all at home and I remember my family was in the basement. The people there were my dad, me, my brother, and my sister. My sister and brother were playing video games. I was like "what if Mommy dies in the tornado guys?" "I'm scared" I cried and cried then all of a sudden, the power goes out. My family huddled in a room in the basement watching the tornado, my basement had a kitchen so we ate snacks and we sat down in a room then the tornado stopped. A couple minutes after that my mom came home and she was safe and the power was out for about 5 days
